Kris Allen – Live at the Vineyard – VIDEO

Such a heartfelt and touching performance. This is one of my most favorite tracks in his album. Really envy those who are able to see Kris perform live. I heard that the organisers will be putting up his videos in a couple of days. I’m looking forward to his creative mash-up performances for Falling Slowly+U2′s song (sorry dun know what’s the name) and also Heartless+Gangsta’ Paradise.

He really is quite a gifted musician. I do hope he’s managed well. His kind of quiet elegance can so easily go under the radar. I’m all for presentational (being a showy kind of gal myself) – but there’s a lot to be said for the kind of style that slowly works its way under the skin. Kris’s talent rather creeps up on a person: you have to listen carefully – but it’s definitely worth the effort. I wish him luck.

One thing about Kristopher when he sings songs like this you can feel the emotion.

I agree, I liked Let It Rain since we got the snippets, after hearing the full track, I believe it’s an exceptionally beautiful song.

TFLS- I feel that’s exactly what happened to Kris during the AI season- his music did slowly work its way under your skin. I feel the same thing listening to his album- the more I hear his songs the more they get to me .

Did Kris seem to get a little emotianal at the end of this performance of Let It Rain? Watch his face when he looks over at Cale at the end. He really put his heart into this song.

According to accounts from IDF, the audience even gave him a standing ovation after his set(most of whom have no idea who he was) – the only one among those who performed that night. If that’s not artistry or talent I don’t know what is.

I hope he sings this when he does that acoustic show I’m going to! Awesome.

Oh no, he busted out the fushia and turquoise plaid shirt again. Hee! At least he didn’t wear it in his LLWD vid.

“Let it Rain” is great.

This is one of my favorites from the album, and of course, he sounds awesome live. I love how Kris brought Idol back to its original roots – finding true undiscovered talent and making an ordinary person’s life change. Go Kris!

What TFLS said – perfectly and to a tee how I feel about this lovely man and his music. Under my skin – yes, that’s it.

I wonder who else performed? The kids from AI get a bad rap, I think.(bad karaoke singer, etc…) I’m frequently disappointed when I hear a well-known artist live, the majority of the time they do not sound anything close to as good as they do on the radio. With these “karaoke” AI singers you always hear the voice you expect…and it’s a GOOD voice. The worst performances on AI this year were the guest stars…Miley Cyrus and Kanye were terrible. If the “stars” at the vinyard concert were anything like Miley and Kanye were live, it’s no wonder Kris got such an ovation.

The other performers that night were NeedToBreathe, A Fine Frenzy, Parachute, and Collective Soul.

I was there that night–didn’t get to go to the concert because I didn’t win tickets, but some friends did. I did get the chance to meet Kris and his family, as well as his friend and guitarist Cale. Kris’s wife, brother, and mom were all there. They were all exceptionally nice. Also, my friends said that Kris was extraordinarily “bantery” during his set–made lots of jokes, was very engaging with the crowd. I know this was something he got criticized for by some during the tour, so I thought that was interesting.

The “Let it Rain” performance is really gorgeous.

Yeah, yesterday, Kris fans the world over heaved a collective sigh of relief over his album. I really thought they would throw him under the bus… again.

I knew Kris was talented, but I have to admit, I am surprised by the level of songwriting on his album. Great, heartfelt, REAL music. Such a breathe of fresh air.

I agree with you on this – and Simon Fuller also seems to understand the potential that Kris has to make $ for him. My point was more about the Idol producers then 19 themselves since Jive is associated with 19 as well. I actually think Let It Rain could also be a beautiful SYTYCD boot song, where you can see some of the dancing with that in the background.

Since they seem to have asked Ruben and Carrie to do songs chosen especially for the boot song, I have a feeling they’ll continue doing that. I guess that means Jordin is up next, both because they seem to be skipping the odd numbers (#2 Ruben, #4 Carrie, #6 Jordin?) and because I can’t imagine them using Taylor, anyway. Or maybe they’ll go backwards and pick up Kelly or Fantasia. Or hop right on over to Cook, since they seem to like him pretty well and they did use “A Daily Anthem” for parts of Hollywood week last year.

I think 19 started doing a song chosen just for them because they figured out they could make a lot of money for themselves rather than sharing it with or making a hit out of somebody like Daniel Powter. But I still think “Let It Rain” would make a great boot song if they can get off the special-commission-to-one-of-our-faves thing.

This song wasn’t my favorite when snippets came out. But with this video and full CD stream, it grew on me and is now one of my favorites. This plaid shirt must be his lucky shirt.

TFLS, I hope TPTB who are marketing him get him too! I am amazed by the album and I believe he will only get better and better as indicated by the fact that he already has since AI.

Sweeeeet. I just enjoy him in an acoustic mode so much more. You can really his voice, really hear the lyrics, and he plays such cool guitar backups.

I can see TPTB taking a song like Red Guitar and/or Alright With Me and remixing them for country radio. I still believe that the Kris/Keith Urban duet during the finale results show was the plan for Kris if he had not won. He can fit in so many different recording formats.

As much as Kris sounds amazing on the record, his voice live is soooo much better. “Let It Rain” was not my favorite off the record, but when it is performed live it completely changes things. I think he and Cale need to work on their harmonizing when they do acoustic sessions like these, though. The ending part where they pull the falsettos – Kris was doing OK but Cale’s back-up was off. anyhow, I really hope a video surfaces of those mash-up performances. The twitter for Live In the Vineyard says they will try uploading videos tonight.

I really want Kris to perform at BBC’s Radio 1. Lots of cool cover songs have emerged out of that small room. It totally fits Kris’s style. But I think we will get some awesome performances from AOL sessions

He’s one of the few artists that I can listen to on repeat in my iPod… i love it when his voice keeps me company while driving…. * sigh *
