I’ve watched a couple of the videos, and have to say that the audience seems kinda rude. Sounds like lots of talking going on in the audience. I’m not sure who was in the audience, or what the set-up was, (some audience scenarios are more conducive to people chatting), or maybe it was just talking in the vicinity of the tapers, but I found the audience annoying.

I wonder how different Kris’s performances will be once he has a full band. I look forward to hearing that.

I couldn’t begin to say how many times I’ve watched this and it just doesn’t stop giving me the biggest grin. I like feeling good. Kris Allen makes me feel good.

Me too! These videos are great, but LLWD would sound even better with percussion, IMO.

I love Kris but this isn’t exactly what I want to hear from him. I guess I should be happy it’s a “headline” or maybe not so much. Anyhow, there are so many more amazing songs out there that deserve covers. This song, not so much.

How can you not love this kid?

I think Kris getting Cale an audition and finally a gig is reminiscent of David Cook. I don’t know if anybody before fought for people they knew and loved. I actually don’t think that before Cook that anybody fought tooth and nail for somebody. Maybe I’m wrong. I’ve been wrong and it’s not yet killed me.

I LOVE this version of “Make You Feel My Love” — so stripped-down, so moving and sincere. I’m wishing he could release that on an album sometime….

As for the noise on the videos, it’s my experience that when people are videotaping something from the audience the noise around them is amplified higher than you’d hear it from being elsewhere in the room. There’s no baffling, so all the ambient sound comes through (annoyingly).

This was a great interview with new information! (yay). I don’t know how long it takes to put the vid together after he shoots it, but I’ll be anxiously awaiting it. I love the concept for it, sounds (dare I say) catchy.

Just to clarify, I believe he said the concept for the video was time and clocks, not blocks of time. He was being fairly secretive. Another bit of info was he said that the chances were looking really good that “I Need to Know” and “Red Guitar,” which are two songs that Kris wrote himself (“Red Guitar” he wrote pre-Idol), will both be on the album.

He sounds totally happy and comfortable with the process. All signs looking good.

He wasn’t trying to be unique, he was just playing around. It wasn’t like he planned on singing that song, it was just that he felt like the audience would enjoy it, and that they would also think that it was silly. There was nothing serious or deep about it, he wanted the audience to laugh at a guy doing a Britney Spear’s song.

Not really. They were assigned the songs and a had less than a week to come up with the arrangements on RS. But, either way, I didn’t like Kris’ version. I still like Kris, and its cool that he has a sense of humor.

That’s like comparing Kris’s “Ain’t No Sunshine” to his “Baby One More Time.” One was a performance he had a week to arrange and prepare, and was intended to be judged as part of the competition. The other was a little guitar diddy he did as a singalong for a little concert for people to have fun. Why can’t he just have some fun with the concertgoers without it being such serious business?

Loved all the videos/songs that he did. Great crowd banter, too. Cale seemed a bit unsure of what to do and when, but that will only get better the more they perform together. Exciting stuff–I love acoustic Kris!

I think it’s adorable Kris has such a funny sense of humor and confidence in himself that he feels completely at ease performing something silly like the Britney song. Clearly he meant it as a light sing-a-long at a charity fundraiser for the audience to have a few laughs. I’ve attended some events like this and I sure wish the performers I saw had a little more fun with themselves like Kris did here.

He seems to enjoy poking fun at himself. I would venture to guess that he would probably laugh hysterically to know people were critiquing this as if it were a performance for a competition or one to be judged against other more serious performances.

I loved this video of Kris doing Baby One More Time. I actually applauded at the end..and it put the biggest smile on my face. Now this is how I expect Kris’ concerts to be…light hearted with great music and audience participation and enjoyment. He just seemed so happy and content and was just wailing and having fun. Kudos Kris!!

Okay, so as to not get my hopes up too high, I’m thinking that at least one of these songs is the one he brought to Mat Kearney. In the interview with Jim C. (Mat’s that is) it sounded to me as if Kris had already written a song and he had brought it to Mat to help him with it. So therefore, it could very well be that one or both of these songs will be co-writes if they make the album. Oh, and I hope, Hope they do!!! I cannot wait of the album!!!

If there are more than a couple co-writes from Kris on this album, I will be pleasantly surprised. I don’t look for anything done by him alone, but if so, then I’ll be even MORE pleasantly surprised!

If I remeber correctly, they actually “fought” for each song they sing in RS. Marty Casey got the short end of the stick and ended up with a winning performance anyway. His version was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Kris do this song. Too bad you don’t like Kris’ version. I happen to like both.

I’m getting a bit excited for the video. Time+clocks+desert= Salvador Dali’s ‘Persistence of Memory’ in my mind.

There is so much you can do with this theme. I hope they do it well. The fast pace of the song lends itself to a Kurasawa type treatment. (Why can I not find a clip from the epic iMax movie he did with very very fast images when iMax was being introduced.)

I’m also curious as to which location they’ll pick. There are so many choices. Weather should be clear if doing today (Saturday) and a touch cooler than yesterday was.

looks like kris & the audience are sharing a moment, singing the song together. love how he involved the audience in this, and love how they all got the humor of it!

most of all, it takes guts to be a barely established artist and already play major hits as humorous guitar ditties to chant with the audience. normally only seasoned stars (ala garth) or no-namers (lounge singers) do this.

that’s what i love about kris… he’s fearless!
