Kris Allen Gets Ready To Perform Before Sunday’s Miami Dolphin’s Game

Ha ha. Kris is super cute.

Will this be televised on any channel or are the attendees of the game the only ones who get the chance to see the show? I sure hope someone takes some good vids of the songs if it isn’t on any of the cable channels.

Yep on other Kris threads here – there have been mention of some peeps going from ontd_ai , who have said they will be taking video . The local Miami news also interviewed Kris & said some of his singing may be televised!!

Ha , these are 2 different cheer leaders in this photo with Kris than were shown on the earlier video!! I bet he’s really looking forward to this for 2 reasons- this is the first time he’s singing with the band & showcasing his new songs & he’s playing to a “footy ” crowd – which is very different to his recent concerts!!!

I’m happy for Kris and very proud of him, looking at how far he’s come.

Can’t wait to see this! I hope there is video – can’t wait to see him with his band — and he is rumored to be debuting news songs. Apparently this was on local news and AI Now is reporting it as confirmed by his management Is this a strange place to debut new songs? Maybe the local radio station covers it? Who cares, just yes please!

I saw the interview locally here in Miami. The reporter was good to him, gave him good publicity with album drop date, new songs questions and some other things. The tailgate concerts are huge now here in Miami – with a concert every week practically.

Very excited that he’ll be performing some of the songs from his album. I really hope it’s televised. There is an online site that broadcasts NFL games, but I don’t know that they’d show the pre-show and concert. I also wasn’t paying attention when my guy friends were telling me about it.

It would be really cool if the Miami Dolphins site uploaded or live streamed it.

Kris looks a lot more comfortable with these cheerleaders. It makes me think that in the beach photos it was more a matter of problems hearing over the waves. Plus that was very awkward framing.

The hair cracks me up. My guess is he had that helmet on and he’s such a typical guy that he had no concern with smoothing it after taking the helmet off. Either that or the girls were messing with his hair.

More shallow, I wish he had the shoulder pads on with the shirt.

LOL. I’m not sure I want to hear footage of this concert. Football stadiums are legendary for their sound issues and I well remember the threads of yore when Idols have done this in the past. Unless you are Whitney lip-synching along to the National Anthem, it seems you are doomed. Even Alicia Keyes lip-synched for her pre-SuperBowl event. If these tailgate parties are actually held with the band singing in the back of a truck, that might improve things.

Kirsten, my understanding is that this concert is not in the stadium, but a specific area just outside the stadium built for concerts and events. It will be before the game.

It may be called a ‘Tailgate’ party, but I suspect no actual vehicles are involved. It’s an open air, covered plaza with a concert stage. Just about everything the Land Shark Stadium has is state of the art.

dsp – since when is florida a neighboring state to arkansas? now, louisiana is a neighboring state to arkansas, so he probably looks best in red and white, or purple and grey to represent the school he went to.

Kris is always such a good sport and enjoys putting himself in silly situations, clowning for the camera, etc. Just adorable.

Anyhew, looks like Kris was having fun out there on the football field, though yes, a tragic case of hat (in this case helmut) hair. But dude, that picture where he’s running with the football under his hand, I would say he runs like a girl, but I’m a girl and a runner, so I know that isn’t the case. Let’s just say odd shot of him while running. But that’s just because he looks like he was having so much fun out there, so there you go.

Oh Kris..gotta love it. Such a disconnect between pocket idol and snarly huge defensive lineman, just reminds me of the teeny guys going to their first pro football game. Kris has really had to “buck up” being the AI winner (see photos with Minnie Mouse). I am sure this is a really nice gig for him and that some music loving football fanatic fans will get turned on to his music. All promo is great promo!!

I don’t think I have ever been more curious about an album release than I have with Kris. I just don’t know where his sound is going and what audience he and his peeps are really looking towards. Hope some vids show up of this gig so that I can get a feel.

As an aside and sorta off topic (would have added this to my last post but my edit function is really wacky)….for those of you who don’t know Jimmy Buffet.

He is South florida’s answer to the Grateful Dead. He is all about the laid back culture of Florida that includes crappy beach bars, siestas in the middle of the day, Football as the only sport known to mankind, bikini girl watching, greasy food, and of course getting liquored up to show passion and emotion. Personally I think he laughs all the way to the bank making fun of MEN’S desire to shake off the shackles of real life and live the life of a beach bum.

He’s prettier than the cheerleaders. Somebody get that man some pom poms!

Another off topic Jimmy Buffett post. He’s also a pretty decent author. Some autobiographical and some fiction. LOL at this Wiki piece of info on him.

Be prepared in your youtube adventure into the world of Parrotheads (his fans nickname). These are people who love to have fun and have no problem making fun of themselves.

My sister and her husband are Parrotheads and when her and her friends get together it’s constant singing, dancing, and laughing … and more than a few margueritas.

you are right, the red x is a little weird but the shirt isn’t new. After that performance and the side eyes he gave Simon or Danny I thought he would have burned it. I’m glad he didn’t, he looks good in it, maybe better with the jacket too, but I guess ocean and jacket don’t go together.

I think if we take that quote out of context it sounds weird (just like “you can never say no to the high school girls” lol , yahoo interview) but he said the same thing about the breast cancer gig (a little better) “the management hooked me up with it and they asked me if it was something that i would like to do and is smth that my family have gone through so…”.(they probably asked him for this particular performance since it was non-profital, I think, but still..) So I guess the management suggests gigs but doesn’t force him to do something that he doesn’t want to. After all in all these inteviews he says that he is a big football fan and therefore very excited that his first performance with his band is at a football game (or should I say soccer? sorry).

I have. It’s on his 2006 album. It’s fantastic. Hard not to be, the songwriting on that song is as good as it gets, ever. The imagery of Elvis shaking it like a Harlem queen. Wow.

I don’t think Buffett’s version is as good as the orginal Welch/Rawlings version. I don’t know how it could be. The original is haunted. Welch wrote it and recorded it in the historic old RCA studio in Nashville where Elvis recorded most of his hits as did the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, and on and on. Welch said the whole time they were recording there they kept feeling the harmony ghosts of the people who had recorded in the studio. Their recording of Elivis Presley blues — the two of them playing it live around a single mic in an old-timey studio is pure magic.

If you like organic singer-songwriter stuff, of course.

“Come Monday” is my favorite, too. His first hit, I think, since he used to sing it in concert and preface it by saying, “And now for my only hit…”

“Come Monday” is still on my iPod, along with my second fave, “Pencil-thin Mustache.” I believe they’re both on the album “Living and Dying in 3/4 Time.”

Pre-Margaritaville, he did a small (500-seat) concert at my college in the mid-70s. It was one of the first live concerts I saw. I still love him, even though the whole Margaritaville and Parrothead thing took him away from what I loved about him.

As for Kris and the Dolphins and the kind of concert it is — I’ve seen some similar tailgating concerts (although no Idols) and the sound was fine. We really enjoyed it. My guess would be that this is a way to try out Kris and his band live without a huge national audience or too much scrutiny while they get the kinks worked out.

LOL at the side-eye comment. That duet was the most mismatched, uncomfortable-looking performance of the season for me. So many things wrong with that – the messed up lyrics, lack of eye contact, lack of chemistry, bizarre-o judges comments. I understand the studio version was much better – I wish now I would have downloaded it.

I’m indifferent toward Jimmy Buffett. I don’t care what the stadium was named for, I’ll never hear that name and take it seriously. Too many college parties tuned into SNL to erase the Land Shark skits from my memory.

IMO, this is a good gig for Kris. One thing I thought of last night was that a good showing tomorrow may translate into another appearance for Kris Super Bowl weekend. There are a lot of major musical artists who perform that weekend at various pre Super Bowl events. Super Bowl XLIV is also going to be played nowhere other than LandShark Stadium. You never know. Some people may mock this performance but Kris is getting a lot of exposure and some very good press. This is his weekend so far with his album tracks being released, a very good review on his album and now performing his new songs in front of a live audience. Great for him.

How much do I love that somebody mentioned “Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Screw” here. That song features the late, great Vassar Clements on fiddle. I actually think his sleazy fiddle playing makes the song. My favorite Buffett song would be “He Went to Paris” or maybe “Chanson Pour Les Petits Enfan”. I’m actually no longer a fan *gasp*. I got over him in about 1980 when he went really mainstream.

It is very cool that they made a shirt for him to commemorate his album debut.

They are really giving Kris the 5 star VIP treatment. Lots of press and radio. The banner of him, private tour, Orange Carpet appearance tomorrow, video messages from him throughout the game.

I really want to know how this came about. It certainly doesn’t seem like your typical AI fare or something 19 would come up with.

I think it’s a fabulous opportunity for him and he’s going to come in contact with some very influential people. Tapping into the sports market may very well be genius.

The “duet” with Danny was a travesty, exceeded in wrong only by Simon’s comment that Danny sang it better. I almost shot my TV.
