It is a sad day, as this marks the final concert on this tour that Kris Allen will be opening for Maroon 5. The concert takes place at Fraze Pavilion in Dayton, OH, and is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Eastern, with V.V. Brown and MIGGS also on the bill.

Earlier today, Kris performed another acoustic set for 107.7 FM in Dayton.

Although this is from an article at http://www.mccall.com that is referenced in today’s headlines thread, I’m putting my comment here because we are often wondering about and sharing our own thoughts regarding this topic on these Kris concert threads:

“Most music careers start with opening for other bands,” Allen says. “Maroon 5 was opening for people six, seven years ago. And so, hopefully, we’ll get to the point where we can do all headlining stuff.

“But for us, man, we are so excited to get to do the shows that we are doing and getting to meet the people that we meet. And I think it’s good for us to open, because we are learning so much and I think it’s part of the process. And I think we’re happy to go through that process.”

My thought: “Kris Allen, you are a wise man.”

Again, quoting Kris regarding how his post-idol career has unfolded:

“…for me, I think it’s happened kind of perfectly.”

I think fans of any artist worry and fret over their favorite’s career. But when Kris says he thinks things have happened perfectly for him, that is cause for celebrating with him rather than worrying for him. I can worry as much as the next fan. But when he says “it’s happened kind of perfectly,” if I respect his word (after all it is his career :) ), then there isn’t much left for me to fret over. I’m completely content to just focus on the music (and to share the love of Kris and his music w/other Kris fans)! He defines his own career, his own success and his own life and I’m happy for him and happy to be a fan!

ETA: Thom – I’m applauding w/Judes, too. :) And waving to Judes. :) And Shopgirl, you’ll hear from me soon. I’m very excited for ilovekrisallen39 and mamacitabaja (and anyone else who gets to be at tonight’s concert!!).

linsmile- well said! I agree completely with your post. It was an excellent article and puts into perspective perfectly Kris’s thoughts on his own career and his satisfaction with exactly where he’s at. So I’m with you on this:

aaahhh CookCricket!!!! Thank you, thank you… for that fantastic account of your Kris epic adventure… I’m so happy for you. I’ll admit to both tearing up and laughing out loud during part 3!! Your husband is definately a keeper :) I love that he complimented Kris, and also that TT was his favorite.

I’m so impressed you were able to keep so cool around Kris. Sounds like you were able to say a lot of great things :) If I ever get to meet Kris again, I pray I say at least 1 of the 10 things I’ve been meaning to… lol Yay \o/ for you !!!

ChicagoGirly, you’ll have to do a top ten list of the things you’d say if you ever met him again! That’d be a fun list.

Yes- this was great confirmation from Kris of what a lot of us Kris fans have been saying, that these concerts were a great way to build his musical future. There will always be knockers but the most important thing is that Kris is happy with the way things are going & that makes me happy too!!

Well said linsmile. Whoever go to the concert tonight, enjoy the moment and I’ll wait to read your recap. I had seen Kris’s concert once in Cherokee Casino. Every time I thing about it I always get mad myself about how chicken I was. I saw Katy and Kris with his band walk past me and I told my father I wanted to stop them and ask Kris to sign my CD that I bought in Wal-Mart but my father don’t let me and I listen to him even though I am old enough to be Kris mother. When Kris past by I ignored like I don’t know him. what a shame.
