American Idol Season 8 winner, Kris Allen, covered The Eagles-Jackson Browne tune, “Take it Easy”, last night in Mill Valley, CA. Got to cover The Eagles when performing in Cali, right?

Another home run from the talented Mr. Allen!

Love the harmonies!!  Every bit as tight and smooth as the Eagles with a little Kris improv thrown in.  Just good good good.

    Oh.  And wife beater ftw.

Nice! Love the Eagles; love Kris singing the Eagles!

  • mtlfan2

that’s another good strong cover for Kris!!! :D

Very, very nice – great Eagles song – would love to hear “Lyin’ Eyes,” too.

Another nice cover. Love the harmonies!

Kris can do so many genres, and he does them all extremely well.

nice and mellow and laid back… very Cali

I love his covers. I also love his originals.

When he was in tucson, the cover he did was “Get Back” by the Beatles. You know, cause it says Tucson Arizona in the lyrics. He’s so goofy. :P

Has he been playing the new songs in other towns? He did two new songs in Tucson and I wasn’t sure if he was doing them everywhere or what. I haven’t seen any videos.

the 2 “new” songs that he performs every night are “Paul Simon” and “Shut That Door”. Neither song is super new — he debuted PS last fall and Shut That Door about a year ago.

Are those the 2 songs you mean?

I love, love, love the Eagles and Kris covering them is just perfection for me.   I don’t know if it was posted elsewhere, but Kris did a rocking version of Jailhouse Rock at the Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas.  These covers really show Kris’s range. Slow and angsty, rock n roll, sweet and mellow.  Kris is always excellent.  Here is a link to Jailhouse Rock

Actually, I think the two would be “Paul Simon” and “Where Are You Amy?” “Shut That Door” predates the last album, so I don’t think it could be considered new by any definition of the word.  :)

  • AZIdolFan

yes and no. He did Paul Simon. The other song wasn’t Shut That Door. It was a slow song. And for the life of me, I can’t remember what he said the name of the song was. It’s a sad song. I have partial video at home but it was taken on a blackberry so the video isn’t very clear. Sound is ok.

  • AZIdolFan

ok. it was “Where Are You Amy”. And i see youtube has videos up. So I’m all good now. :)

Does anyone have the mp3 for this.Love this but I love all the requests.Since there won’t be a new album for a while,it’s great to have all these covers to hold me over.Kris really has incredible versatility.

Kris had a lot to live up to seeing in my opinion The Eagles 5 part harmonies are perfection. Kris & band do a great job here though. I love hearing how Kris interprets all these variety of song choices at short notice.

Kris sounds great singing this song.

By the way, somebody said that there will be a stream of the San Francisco one on Feb 14, I hope so.
That will be a good one, Kris will be happy (happier) than usual since Katy is supposed to be there. Valentine Day.

I Another great cover by Kris.  It never ceases to amaze me how Kris can sing any genre of music he takes on.  I was a huge Eagles fan back in the day and Take It Easy and Lyin’ Eyes were my two favorites.  This was a little faster than the original but it’s Kris’ and Kris changes up.  The harmonies were really nice too.  Way to go Kris!

I don’t know if they have an mp3 for this one yet, but in general krisallenmedia.livejounal.com  is a great source for mp3s.

Thanks dy, that’s good to know!

Late to the party. I’m also a huge Eagles fan so I was thrilled to hear he covered them. So so good. It’s really amazing how he can slide so easily through genres.
