A Kris Allen co-write with Toby Gad and Lindy Robbins has been recorded by South African Idol alum, Heinz Winckler.

There are songwriting and performance credits listed at HFA Songfile for a tune called “Blindfolded” written by Toby Gad/Lindy Robbins/Kris Allen and performed by  Heinz Winckler.

Heinz won the first season of South African Idol in 2002 and released his latest album, 24/7/365, hit stores in July. “Blindfolded” was the lead single. You can listen to it below.

Kris has co-writing credits on a couple of songs recorded by other artists, including Glee star Matt Morrison’s single “Still Got Tonight” (Matt performed it on the Glee finale) and a song called “Raise Your Hand” on The Voice winner, Javier Colon’s latest album Come Through For You.

I’m not trying to take away from Kris’ success with LLWD, because he did have a big hit with it, but I think that his and The Script’s respective successes were totally separate.

I agree. The average person doesn’t know or care who wrote a song.  I’d also add that while The Script were unknown in the US at the time, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved got some attention from VH1 and some HAC stations, but didn’t make an impact, the other two writers of LLWD are well known Grammy Award winning writers and producers.  Nobody can say for sure that The Script would have finally broken through in the US, I’m sure that they hoped that things would go well with TMWCBM, but it didn’t happen, no matter how many views the video has.  The Script broke though because of Breakeven.

Kris just oozes musical talent doesn’t he! I love hearing Kris sing but I feel like a proud Mum when I see that other people want to record a song Kris had a hand in writing!

    Blindfolded
Music/Lyrics by: Kris Allen, Toby Gad, Lindy Robbins (August 2009)

Walking through this strange and crowded place
Imagining your face, fighting my way through
Oh I feel you getting close with every step
With all that I have left
    I’m reaching out for you

    If I was blindfolded
    If my memory was erased
If every sign pointed to another place
    I’d still find you
    I’d still find you

My fingers trace the outline of your shape
and recognize the way you pull me into you
oh you’re calling out to me
    not saying a thing
    you’re everything I need
and all that I could never, ever lose

    If I was blindfolded
    If my memory was erased
If every sign pointed to another place
    I’d still find you

You’re the gravity that’s taken hold of me
every time I lose my way
    it’s the chemistry
    more than eyes can see
and no matter where I am
    I will still find you
    I will still find you

Love the lyrics & especially the musicality of this song.  I’m stoked to think this song was the fruit of Kris’ efforts from CD #1.  Can’t wait for CD#2.  I think the results of this CD will be even better!

Great song! Like it a lot though not as much as “Love Too Much”. Now Kris, when can we hear your own lead single for album #2? It’s 2012 already you know… Hurry up please please please…
