Kris Allen Breaks Arm in Head On Collision (But He’s OK!)

Oh no! Kris Allen and his wife Katy were in a head on collision today. Katy is fine, but Kris broke his arm. His mom, Kimberly Allen, tweeted that the Season 8 American Idol winner is fine, but in a lot of pain and may not play guitar for awhile.

Kimberly adds that both Kris and Katy are pretty beat up. Kris’ arm is being set today, and he’s scheduled for surgery tomorrow. Prayer are welcome, she says…

Oh. And Zorro the pup is fine too! Shook up, but not injured.

The photo Kris’ mom tweeted reveals that he has kept his sense of humor during the ordeal. That’s a very good sign.

ETA: Kris tweets that his upcoming Out Alive tour will go on as planned. The tour kicks off on January 8.  He’s also tweeted some REALLY REALLY GOOD NEWS TOO! He and his wife are expecting a baby! Read more here.

    That sounds promising!  Kris mostly plays rhythm so it shouldn’t be too complicated to bring in someone to sub for him.  I kind of recall a show in Florida, or somewhere in the SE, where Kris used another guitarist.  Is this the guy (or am I imagining that?)?

    I can’t believe Kris, Katy and Zorro all walked away from that crash.  Ford should be proud of this car.

    i don’t remember another guitarist in the band but i remember another drummer for a show – i don’t remember where

    Andrew DeRoberts is the other guitarist from KAB. He currently lives in Nashville but is part of another band. So if he is available & willing, he could easily step in. He has played most of the new songs already from a previous show last summer.

    Regarding that sentence in the story at the start of this thread:
    Since Kimberly says both Kris AND Katy are pretty beat up, I’d like to know more about any injuries Katy has sustained.  I’m hoping any and all medical testing for baby Allen and his momma after the wreck rules out any complications, in the shortterm and longterm.  She’s a tiny lady and I would think the physical impact of that crash had to really jar her body pretty hard.

    sidenote:  Zorropup in the arms of Kris just melted me.  Dog lover that I am, I could just feel Zorropup trembling inside but loving being in his daddy’s arms by just looking at that picture.   Such a sweet/sensitive moment.

    The other drummer was for the Magic Springs show last July in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Andrew came from Nashville so it was a full band show but without Ryland or Drew on drums. Can’r remember the name of the drummer but he was good.
