Kris Allen Big Brothers Big Sisters Casino Jazz Night -NYC

Kris Allen performed at the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Casino Jazz Night in New York City on June 16. Check out a couple of photos from the event… (click on the thumb).

Funny Twitvid!

Kris tweeted this to his fans yesterday after the event

Live Like We’re Dying

The audio is crap.

I love Kris to death and I especially admire his commitment to supporting so many great causes. But sometimes I think what I love most about him is the fact that he so snarky/funny and is just a giant dork — as that twitvid shows.

  • dy77

Thanks for the thread MJ! Girlygirl, I agree completely.

Twitter list for last night’s event: http://twitter.com/#!/list/KrisAllenLists/june15bbbsnyc

We know he sang LLWD, something from the 80s and a 3rd song:

    @BBBSNYC
@krisallenlists You’re welcome! Glad all you fans are enjoying! We’ve got 2 more vids tomorrow (HINT: Kris gets his 80′s on)

Here’s the link to their FB page and looks like they’ve posted a photo album now too.

Yay for new Kris thread. I couldn’t stop laughing yesterday after watching the video he posted via twitter lol! This is why I love him! Love that he gets to ply at all these charities <333!

  • jinger

Does anyone know if this is the only reason Kris is in New York? Is he on his way to somewhere else now? I will agree that his dorkiness makes him fun to follow :)

  • tripp_ncwy

Kris was in NYC for this show but today he tweeted that he is going to Jive for meetings on music.

  • linsmile

Well…all in a good day’s (or two days’) work and fun: trip to NYC, giving to charity, great music, Kris/Torres/Cale dorkiness, a Jive meeting worth tweeting about and… Jive tweets back that they will post a treat for Kris fans. Lot’s of goodness here.

  • Mel1

How does Kris pay his bills, band and crew when he does so many charity gigs.

  • TwigLA

Kris is always popping up somewhere to surprise us. He really is a ninja.

These pics are sweet, plus those in the album on their FB page. Someone is guessing the 80s song is ‘Stand By Me’. Hope they put up the videos soon.

I love when Kris makes silly videos.

Hope we hear something from his talks with Jive today. JivePromo said they have a special treat for Kris fans if they #FF them.

  • Ratna12

KrisAllen: Alright I’m up and packed and ready to go back but before I go gonna head over to @JiveMusic and discuss some muzac.

If I hear Kris in an elevator, I just won’t leave. :)

At times when I hear his song in a grocery store, I would move to a spot where the sound was clearest.

And I love that lately Kris is tweeting more and answering some tweets from fans, etc.

Why don’t you tweet him and ask. I’m sure he’d be happy to tell you.

  • TwigLA

Ratna12, Home Depot has a lot more of my money thanks to playing Kris songs in the garden dept.

  • dy77

And I love that lately Kris is tweeting more and answering some tweets from fans, etc.

    Yes, me too!

As for how can Kris afford to pay the poor band and crew for his many charity gigs, ha I guess he will need to dig into the pennies he has earned from the “tens of CDs” he has sold per the tweet yesterday.

  • Eileen99

Loved the twitvid Kris posted yesterday. Bonus Torres makes it even better.

Has anyone checked to see if the charity posted the other two videos?

  • jasmine

Yes, yes! What girlygirl said. And Ratna12, I can picture you running while pushing your cart, wheels spinning, to find the best acoustics for Kris’ music. : )

That twit video is so funny. I don’t know how Kris was able to keep a straight face, when Torres couldn’t.

How does Kris pay his bills, band and crew when he does so many charity gigs.

So, you think he only does charity gigs, or that the people who put on these shows aren’t paying him? I’m sure that the money that the money that he’s made from writing on his own album and songs for others also helps him pay the bills.

  • Mtlfan

the twitvid is funny.. i wasn’t expecting the ending at all :)
nice gig. I saw that Pierce Morgan was also attending this charity

@KrisAllen thank you so much for your INCREDIBLE performance last night! You rock!!!

  • Eileen99

    oops, duplicate.

How does Kris pay his bills, band and crew when he does so many charity gigs.

This may be a charity event for the organizers but entertainment is paid a fee to perform plus travel expenses.

There really is a “charity circuit”….established fund raisers that offer entertainment each year during their Big events. Entertainers are booked for these and are usually paid their going rates. Even though the bookings aren’t altruistic on the performer’s part, I am sure that a match between event and singer is well thought out….and the more interesting a performer the more interest in the event and hopefully the more funds raised. Many mid-tier performers “work” the circuit. They get an opportunity to work for a good cause and they also have a chance to expand their fan base.

Well said girlygirl and ditto for me! It seems that no matter what they are doing they are enjoying themselves and their humor is always front and center. Wouldn’t it be fun to hang out with Kris and gang for a day and laugh at all their snarkiness in person??? Wait, now that I think about it, their snarkiness would probably go un-noticed because I would be in a trance staring at their faces.

Jive Promo just tweeted this picture of Kris http://yfrog.com/gyhahpbj Along with this message,

    JivePromo
Hi @KrisAllen fans a quick pic til we post your special message tomm! Remember to spread the #ff word & RT

  • girlygirl

It’ll probably be a quick “thank you fans” message or something, but it would be nice if the “special message” has to do with his next single

Artists of all “tiers” do charity events. There are many top tier artists who are known for their charity work, and for putting on fundraisers, and performing at them. Sometimes they do it because they really support the charity, and sometimes they do it because it’s a good gig. Sometimes they do it for free, and sometimes they are paid. I think it’s really that simple.

I try not to get my hopes up but I can’t help it. But, it’s nice to get at least something even if it’s “only” a thank you message :)

Oh Ratna , I’ve just returned from a month OS including the US & it was so good to hear Kris’s music in a number of places but the best was on the radio as we were driving along the Big Sur coast in Clalifornia-beautiful scenery & sound!! Looking at Kris being in NY also reminds me of our time there -great place.
Its good to come back & see another thread for Kris-having been starved of his news for 4 weeks. I’m happy to hear Kris singing no matter where he is performing .
I also enjoy his humour – must be great fun being with those guys .

  • hoosiermama

I think he will announce his new single because he did tweet that we would hear it first from him ( “I promise.”). That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! LOL

    Welcome back judes!!

Thanks for whoever puts the facebook stuff onto youtube for those of us who are resistant to social media! Now off to watch some more dorky Kris!

  • lifeisgood

Kris is sexy and snarky – love him. Interested in Jive’s tweet treat.

  • Ratna12

That, or stay put trying to find the best peach for 4 minutes.

I like JivePromo tweet because to tell you the truth, I was pretty scared reading last night’s thread about LA Reid and Epic Record.

Sending Kris the best wishes as always, and next week he will turn 26.

  • http://MJO judes

    Welcome back judes!!

Thanks hoosiermama-its good to be back. I just love that I have a birthday the same week as Kris – I feel I can celebrate with him- although I am a “little” older than he is !! After the holiday I feel almost as young as Kris though so age doesn’t really matter!

Hoping for a good news tweet from Jive!

  • erl

Those boys are just too stinkin cute. That vid is great!

  • Twinsie41

    That interview was cute!

  • almondean88

For a moment I thought the interview was real. Then I thought why does a NYC radio guy have such a southern accent? Oh no, it’s Cale!

Hey everybody! Judes, glad you had fun in the USofA!!

Thanks shopgirl & jasmine. I feel a great affinity with you all now after going there again. Whilst we were there another devastating tornado hit – really makes you think about what’s important in life!!

I’m loving these videos [even if the sound is muted-shows how much I've missed listening to Kris's music!!] Thanks tripp .
