Kris Allen played a gig last night at the BB Kings Blues Club in the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, ahead of his appearance tonight with Allison Iraheta on the FOX New Years Eve special (starts at 11 pm).

After the jump, check out Kris performing the self-penned “Red Guitar” for the very first time in front of an audience.

You won’t be disappointed!

I’ll add videos to this post as they appear today.

UPDATE: Added “Can’t Stay Away”, “Is It Over” and Ain’t No Sunshine”.

NOW WITH PHOTOS!

A bit rough, but they’re getting there. Nice job.

    Great job, Kris.

    Happy New Year everyone!

  • girlygirl

That needs some work, but was good for the first time performing it live. And Kris at the 4:50 mark? So hot!

Katy was there — bet she was so happy to see this.

There are a bunch of pics up from this gig.

Great job, Kris! He performed it for the first time live , Katy was there too!! I wish we could hear the instuments better. I guess they can’t recreate live the studio instrumentation, especially the last part but I’m curious about what they did on AOL sessions. I hope we won’t have to wait ages to see that performance. Thanks, Kris, I guess you felt our frustration and decided to debut it here. We really appreciate it.

set list: Heartless Mashup, CSA, AWM, IIO, MITM, RG, Britney song, LLWD, encore:ANS

  • Eileen99

Loved this live …. she is uploading Ain’t No Sunshine when she wakes up, then the rest of her vids after she drives home (and she has a four-hour drive, so it will be much later before we get the rest).

TBH, this isn’t my fave on the album, but Kris makes everything sound great live, IMO. This is rockier than on the album, which I like. I agree it’s got a bit of a Country vibe to it… I love that the audience chanted for more, and got an encore.

  • girlygirl

Someone from the NY Post blogged about Kris’ show last night.

I dont know what time it is in the US, but here in the Philippines it’s already 2010. So, Happy New Year to all of you!!! :)

And what a better way to greet the new year (nay the new decade) than with a video of Kris performing one of my favorite tracks in the album. Woohoo!!!

  • alaadam

I would have killed for an intimate performance like that with ADam. On twitter, some people said there were about 150 people there and you could really get up close but Kris didn’t stay to sign autographs. With a couple martinis, I would have jumped the stage (being that close) if it were Adam. I wouldn’t have needed his autograph. I would have taken part of him home with me when security ripped me away from him. lol
    Happy New Year!

  • washpd

This is my favorite song on the album. So great to hear him do it live finally. And the emotion he brings to the song is just great.

FYI, the people I know who were there said there were about 300, not 150.

  • smartcookie

Did anyone say how long his set was? I’m guessing in the neighborhood of an hour?

I liked that Red Guitar a lot. I think it has a really pretty melody. I’m glad he’s doing it live now. His concerts are gonna be so good! (Sending subliminal messages to Kris and KAB to come to central Illinois… Carrie, Daughtry and Cook have all played the Peoria Civic Center recently — Carrie and Daughtry in the 11,000-seat arena and Cook in the 2000-seat theater, so it can be done, Kris. Just sayin’.)

Are these pix duplicates of what was already linked to? Hope not.

TBH, this isn’t my fave on the album,

It’s one of my faves off the album (beautiful melody, almost wish it had different lyrics because then it might stand a chance on radio), but I thought it was a little rough/strained here. Kris needs to just sing this calmly from his center.

But what do I know? I’ve never won American Idol.

I’m such a nit-picker, but I cannot be silenced…..ugh…hate the facial hair. Quick, one of you lurker stalkers jump him and shave him before tonight (j/k. Seriously, don’t do that. I won’t pay your bail if you do. AND I’ll pontificate on how cray-cray you are (but will privately applaud…no, I won’t. It’s his face. If he wants to deface it, he can. Not judging at all…Well I am….need to…stop…talking…now…my credibility is all gone…ugh…stupid facial hair)).

Still, great write up in the NYPost.

  • Eileen99

I read during AWM Kris was down in the audience giving high fives.

  • ross

You’re probably right but seriously, I no longer trust YouTube after seeing Kris live. That Billboard video yesterday had amazing quality — too bad they included so little of the song (Heartless).

  • Starr

“Red Guitar” is one of my favorites on the album as well. The vocals aren’t cleaner than they normally are, and I could barely hear Andrew’s guitar (but that might just be because I watched the video on my iPhone – perhaps not the best quality on it), but I adored the intro with the acoustic accompaniment; it almost brought a whole new dimension to the song. I haven’t seen “Ain’t No Sunshine” yet, because the video won’t load for me, but from what I hear it’s awesomesauce.

So happy for Kris and the band! I’m glad they are enjoying themselves in Vegas. From reports from the people who were there, Kris got a pretty good reception and the NY Post also has some nice words about Kris. Hope more videos will be up soon!

  • mzbet

I like the beard! I just hope he shaved his neck lol (couldn’t tell from these vids). Red Guitar will be awesome live when it’s polished a bit more. Great sounding for the first time out. I am really loving the clip of RG on AOL Session (get those legal difficulties fixed like now!).

I liked the different take of ANS he did, too. Sounds like he did some improvising up there and I liked it!

Can’t wait for the other videos to surface. So thankful that h2oconvo did that for us!

  • kt_cle

Okay, kids, how do we get the message to KA that CSA is better with out the
    G (-tar)?

Ross, if you can figure this one out before the tour starts, you’ll be my hero (wait, I just told the BBKing videographer that she was my hero… well, shhhh, don’t tell anybody). It’s not so much that CSA needs him without the guitar, but he needs a fun, upbeat song where he can just work the stage. And since he started w/o guitar on this one, it’s the easy option. But I would trade CSA for AWM … bouncy Kris working the stage would work quite well for that song.

ETA: mzbet – I loved the ANS change ups as well. It’s not ‘messing up the lyrics’ as first described. It was more like he blues-ed it up, maybe in honor of the venue?

  • Eileen99

Kris needs to just sing this calmly from his center.

You mean it wasn’t a vocal masterclass? Hee hee. And now like a good Kris fan, I’m feeling badly I said it wasn’t my fave. I do agree the melody is gorgeous – wonder if this would ever get any Country spins some time down the road. I think I recall this track was one of Brian Mansfield’s favorites, and he seems to be a country fan more often than not.

So last night #teamfacialhair won out, but I think we’ll probably see a cleaned up Kris tonight. I can’t even imagine playing a show at midnight, plus being jet lagged, and they didnt’ even come on stage until at least 12:20. Hope he’s sleeping in this morning!

  • girlygirl

The ANS video isn’t working forme (sniff…)

  • carmine2008

The Ain’t No Sunshine video was awesome. He clearly forgot the lyrics but did he panic? No. He improvised and it sounded AMAZING.

These days, Cale is the one who seems to tweet the most. Kris probably gets so many tweets he doesn’t even look at a fraction of them – Cale & @krisallenband should get your suggestion, Ross.

  • kt_cle

Eileen99, you’re right, it was a long day for him. Started with flight delays, I think. Then squeezing in the ‘Love’ show, then the late night performance. I’ll give him a break on the facial hair… but really, really, really hope he shaves for tonight :D

ROFL, Kirsten, I totally agree. Although I’m more okay with the “beard” (using the term loosely) than the attempted mustache he was sporting a few weeks ago.

  • ilovekrisallen39

I think me might get IIO before CSA

  • Starr

Huh? What are you guys talking about “forgetting the lyrics”? Which part did he forget the lyrics to ANS? Sounded pretty clear to me on this video.

One of the early fan summaries said something about forgetting the lyrics, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I watched the video, but didn’t look that way to me at all.

  • calico

    From the NYPost article:

Hopefully this is the type of tune we can expect from Kris once the expectations placed upon his debut have faded in the future.

I love reading stuff like this and couldn’t agree more. What a treat to finally hear Red Guitar live. I knew I should have gone to Vegas.

Nice that he got the crowd to quiet down with ANS.

Grrr I am going to Vegas on January 3rd! I wish I had known about this secret show in advance so I didn’t already book my hotel and stuff and would’ve been able to catch Kris on two shows! *sob* That’s OK. These awesome YT videos are enough for me :)

  • carmine2008

Huh? What are you guys talking about ‘forgetting the lyrics’ ? Which part did he forget the lyrics to ANS? Sounded pretty clear to me on this video.

The part where he was singing “wonder this time where she’s gone…” it should have been followed by “wonder if she’s gone to stay…” but he skipped to “only darkness everyday”. And he sort of mumbled that part hence my observation that he forgot the lyrics. But, as I said, it totally worked as it gave the entire thing an improvisational feel to it.

  • mermichelle
  • mmk28

It will sound boring at this point but I’m with all of you who LOVED the improvisation during ANS.

Huh? What are you guys talking about ‘forgetting the lyrics’ ? Which part did he forget the lyrics to ANS? Sounded pretty clear to me on this video.

In a recap that I posted in the prevous Kris thread somebody who attended the show said that Kris messed up the lyrics during ANS but apparently it was just a misconception of his improvisation.
ETA: OK maybe as carmine2008 pointed out something happened withe lyrics but it wasn’t very akward, it worked really well in the end.

Regarding the facial hair, there must have been a bet with Cale, I don’t know who won or lost but Cale was shaved yesterday and Kris wasn’t and I prefer it the other way. I hope Cale manages to grow his beard in 7 min. as he said he can and I guess Kris can shave in the same amount of time! It was nice for a change, Kris but not for a permanent look. Along with the issue about the guitar and CSA we should tweet Cale about that MAJOR issue too, LOL.

  • girlygirl
  • washyourhands

Wow! Really great to finally see Red Guitar and really great to hear ANS on the guitar which I think I actually prefer to the piano.

Thanks to everyone who manages to get us Kris fanatics these videos.

Ahhhhhhhhh…..that will take me happily into 2010.

  • kt_cle

Love this performance of Is It Over… yet another reminder that Kris and the band really hit a groove with songs after a handful of chances to perform them…. something to look forward to with Red Guitar and the other songs on the album we’ve rarely/never heard.

  • girlygirl

By the way, did Andrew steal Kris’ scarf?

  • ilovekrisallen39

I so loved IIO. It gets better and better everytime he sings it live.

  • Eileen99

OK I tweeted Cale and the band about the CSA guitar issue. What is my life?

  • kt_cle

Ok, you people with super sonic hearing… at the beginning of the ANS video, somebody shouts out a song. Kris says, “The (can’t understand) one? (something, something, something) I have no idea how to play that.”

Anybody have any ideas what song they were talking about?

  • carmine2008

Is It Over is officially my favorite track from Kris’ album at the moment. Ill probably switch over to the next song that gets posted which is also precisely what happens to me when I listen to his album on my MP3 player.

  • girlygirl

    kt_cle

I think someone shouted out about doing ANS on piano and Kris was like there’s no piano here. Then he said something about something not working and how he didn’t know how to play something. Mumbly Kris is mumbly!

  • mermichelle
  • mmk28

What about the other issue Eileen99 or are you #teambeard (LOL, JK)

h2oconvo, who took all these videos (thank you so much) says on twitter: I bet Kris is doing CSA tonight. Last night’s was shortened (no guitar solo, just over 3:00 long). My guess is that was the TV version.

He has already said in an article that he will do CSA and LLWD, but in the conference call later he said he didn’t know what he was singing yet. Typical Kris so we will see tonight what happens with all these issues!

  • carmine2008

ETA: OK maybe as carmine2008 pointed out something happened withe lyrics but it wasn’t very akward, it worked really well in the end.

    kt_cle

Can’t decipher the first mumble. But as girlygirl said, I think someone suggested to Kris that he do ANS on the piano. He then said something like “have you seen one?” and then an audience went “yeah over there”. That’s when Kris said he doesn’t know how to work that one. :)

ETA: Love the vids. Way to keep me up all night. LOL.

This is the guy who Simon said had no confidence! Heh!

Simon never has and never will understand subtlety.

I do like Simon at times, but unless he gets on board this season, AI might be better without him. He makes such contrasting statements. E.g., he told David Cook he was smug, pompous, etc., (when he was showing confidence), then he tells Kris he’s wet, standing at a bus stop, etc. (when Simon thinks he isn’t showing confidence.). So I think Simon will slam somebody regardless…he evidently gets off on that. Who knows. I just really disliked him last season for comments such as (the duet) “Danny was better.” Excuse me?! I do think Heartless was a message to Simon. Don’t get me started on Simon. Moving on!!

Well, in my opinion, it’s one thing to give feedback about songs and performances. When it comes to appearance, I also tweet Kris stuff about his outfits; telling him if I like a certain jacket or whatnot. The beard thing though I think is something that would make Kris self-conscious if fans started making a big deal out of it, and we definitely don’t want that, especially since he will be on live TV tonight in Vegas. I think it’s funny, though, that Cale is beard-less and Kris is trying to grow one out haha

  • cookcricket

My vote is definitely no tweet about he beard issue!!!! Loved Kirsten’s post, hilarious as always!! Kirsten, me thinks Kris kinda hits your soft spot. ;)

“This is the guy who Simon said had no confidence! Heh! quoted by Eileen 99″ Actually, Simon was right, on the show Kris never showed confidence. It was only after he went on tour and spent more time with other confident people that he began to display his own. You only have to watch the show in its entirety to notice it. And as for his guitar, it’s a crutch! He’s more confident and comfortable behind an instrument! Happy New Year to all!!!!!

LLWD was added to the RateTheMusic survey for Pop this week (it’s been on the one for HAC for quite some time). A song has to be in the Top 30 for a format before it gets sent out for RTM. It was rated 13th. The highest rating was from the teenager group (lowest was from those in the 25-34 range). The song was 7th with Pop/Fam with teenagers (behind ‘Tik Tok’ , ‘Bad Romance’ , ‘Whatcha Say’ , ‘Do You Remember’ , ‘Replay’ and ‘Fireflies’ ).

    RTM

Bringing this over from another thread. Yay for Kris!!

OnePlusSix, Kris obviously appears more confident now, but he displayed a quiet confidence while on idol.

  • smartcookie

I think Kris’s confidence level was just fine and still is. Humility is not the same as no confidence. And Simon speaks out of so many sides of his mouth there’s no room for anything else in there. On X Factor in England, he said that Robbie Williams (who said in a taped piece that he knew he wasn’t the best singer out there, which is exactly what Kris said that made Simon have a fit) was a paragon of virture because he was the perfect mix of humility and confidence, that it just showed how fabulous he was that he realized he wasn’t the best singer, but did it his way, anyway.

    Simon = Full of Shit.

Anyway, I think Kris is fine with or without a beard and with or without a guitar on CSA. Me = Easy to Please. Kris hasn’t let me down yet, not even with All She Wants to Do Is Dance in the pit.

And he seems to have turned in a really nice little set there last night. Can’t wait to see him on TV tonight.

  • Caitlin03

God, I can’t stop watching these videos they are all so good. I’m forever grateful to the ones who recorded them.

Yeah, I vote for no beard tweet. LOL That would just be weird.

I disagree that he did not have confidence on AI. I always saw him as quietly confident and assure of himself. He’s obviously grown more and more comforable as he’s performed more away from AI. He’s discovering more about himself and his style, etc. Hopefully, soon he will ditch the guitar a little more. It’ll come.

  • NewAIFan_S8

There’s a difference between being confident and being arrogant, and Kris stayed on the right side of that line IMO.

  • http://twitter.com/dianeramos4real Diane

    Ok, on the BEARD issue:

what do you guys think about Kris shaving the moustache but keeping the beard? I kinda like the beard (see picture below) but I feel like the moustache is all wrong. And I need to see a close-up pic of Cale before I decide about his beard.

Wow it looks like Kris did great last night. I am envious of those who were able to attend a smaller venue. Kris is awesome to watch live. Hopefully I will be able to see his performance tonight (I am a Brighthouse cust in Florida..boo).

BTW: I completely disagree with Kris not showing confidence on the show. He had to have confidence in his abilities to pick the songs he did each week. It was very apparent on “Ain’t No Sunshine”, SWHFTM, and Heartless. But he also had it in his other performances. Just because he wasn’t out there in your face, doesn’t mean he wasn’t confident..

  • Banished

So, I haven’t been to a live performance in many years, and I know this gig was in a loungy atmosphere, but most of the videos that have popped up from The December performances have people talking in the background. Is this common? That would really bug me both as a performer, and someone trying to listen to the music. I wonder if Kris and the band notice or care? Just an observation. Maybe I am showing my age?

  • jts323

no on the beard tweet…i think its hot…shallowness showing…lol

Simon comment…can’t stand him…if you don’t have a “Mariah”,”Whitney” or any loud voice you suck to him. He is still living i n the 80\90′s

    The New York Post article:

As the days continue to be X-ed off on Kris Allen’s King of “American Idol” calendar, the singer/songwriter shows no signs of slowing down. Just last night the talent show victor took the stage at BB Kings House of Blues in Las Vegas for a relatively intimate show … that has already ended up online.

The best bit was his performance of “Red Guitar,” a song that he actually penned before his time in front of the firing squad, informally known as Simon, Paula, Randy and Kara. Hopefully this is the type of tune we can expect from Kris once the expectations placed upon his debut have faded in the future.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve felt like Kris lost a bit of his heart since he claimed the “Idol” crown and has been forced to sing the same two songs like a trained monkey. “Red Guitar” calls to mind (ear?) Kris’ most emo performances from the show and reminds me why I was secretly happy when he beat Adam Lambert in the May finale.

Nice article! I appreciate her love of the soulsy and slower songs, but I also love the way Kris has progressed. I liked almost every song Kris did on the show, and I also like every song on the album. And I can’t wait to get a chance to see/hear him live!

  • kt_cle

Ok, since we are delving into the shallow side of the pool, here’s my 2 cents on facial-hair-gate….

I’m all about the scruff – the 1-2 days of growth (or maybe a bit longer for ‘slow-growers’ like Kris). But in general, I’m not a fan of fuller beards and moustaches. Kris has passed scruff and moved on to beard, so I vote no. Same for Cale when he’s sporting the full beard.

    OnePlusSix:

You only have to watch the show in its entirety to notice it.

Since it was my original quote that you commented on, I’ll just say I did watch the entire show. Kris was fine on the show. He’s always had a strong quiet confidence which makes me think this is why Ricky Minor called him the quiet storm.

I don’t think Simon can recognize something like that, and had to be blown away when Kris came out w/ “Heartless” on guitar only/ sans band.

Anywho, lovin’ the vids but gotta prepare for par-tay tonight!!!!

Happy New Years to those who are already in 2010 and those getting ready!!

Thanks to those who took and posted vids!!! Last night was a success!!! Woot!!! :D

smartcookie–I agree with every single point in your latest post, even on your assessment of ASWTDID. And yes, Simon is full of shit.

  • breakdown

I was at the show and Kris was terrific! My 4 videos are now public on youtube. I got a set list, guitar pic and my cd signed!

    Set List ~

    Heartless
    Can’t Stay Away
    Alright With Me
    Is It Over
    Man In The Mirror
    Red Guitar
    Live Like We’re Dying

Bonus ~ Ain’t No Sunshine & Hit Me Baby One More Time

Lots of banter in between songs and the piano onstage was not functional.

Just saw this. Was it posted before? Kris was picked as one of (first listed) OK Magazine’s Breakout Stars of 2009.

Nice to see him get some recognition. Go Kris!

‘This is the guy who Simon said had no confidence! Heh! quoted by Eileen 99′ ³ Actually, Simon was right, on the show Kris never showed confidence. It was only after he went on tour and spent more time with other confident people that he began to display his own. You only have to watch the show in its entirety to notice it. And as for his guitar, it’s a crutch! He’s more confident and comfortable behind an instrument! Happy New Year to all!!!!!

I disagree with you completely. Kris displayed plenty of confidence on the show. From his risky arrangements to his performance of “Heartless” where he sang all by himself with no band to fall back on – we may have been watching two different shows if you did not see the confidence he displayed.

Everyone gained confidence from the tour, because that’s what it’s designed to build. Tour prepares the Idols for their future gigs, and everyone benefited from it, not just Kris. To say that Kris grew more confident only after performing “with other confident people” on tour makes no sense – he was performing with the same group of people during the show, so I don’t see how your point stands.

As for the guitar, Kris is in his element when he plays his guitar, and if you think it’s a crutch, it might be because you prefer a different kind of performer. However, you can’t discount the performances Kris has done where he is without his guitar. He has performed “Can’t Stay Away” without the guitar numerous times and has displayed a great deal of confidence while performing it, so with or without his guitar, he’s definitely in his element.

  • washpd

Actually, Simon was right, on the show Kris never showed confidence. It was only after he went on tour and spent more time with other confident people that he began to display his own. You only have to watch the show in its entirety to notice it. And as for his guitar, it’s a crutch! He’s more confident and comfortable behind an instrument!

I watched the entire show. I watched Kris play piano on a live television show for millions of people even though he just started playing a year and a half before. I watched him stand on a stage, all by himself, and play an acoustic version of a hip-hop song that the original artist had performed on the same stage just weeks before. I wathced him take a cheesy disco song and rework it into a brilliant acoustic almost Latin-rhythmed performance. Kris had plenty of confidence.

And his instruments aren’t a crutch. In fact, two of Kris’s most-hailed performances on the show were without any instrument–To Make You Feel My Love and Falling Slowly. Kris has said that he prefers to make the music himself, that it helps him to feel more connected. I think that’s how any musician would feel. That doesn’t make it a crutch. It’s an asset that he can make the music himself because, as you could see with his ANS performance last night, it allows him to do all sorts of cool improvisations right on the spot.

  • jts323

ASTWTDID..i cringed at the song choice (personally do not like the song) and I am sorry but Kris is\was too short\little for the pit…he got lost in the crowd.

Hey he is taller than methough..I am only 5 foot but that was the only performance I was really scared about him not making it.

  • kt_cle

it allows him to do all sorts of cool improvisations right on the spot.

His ANS improvisations last night reminded me of something I’ve thought of often while watching Andrew’s guitar solos. I love that they both seem to know just how long to make those interludes. Even my favorite bands/musicians have a tendency to make those solos and improvisational riffs last too long for my taste. They sometimes lose the connection to the song they are playing and just sort of seem self indulgent – to use a terms of Simon’s.

But from what I’ve seen so far, Andrew and Kris take these just perfectly far enough – they show off their talent and are a great addition to the performances. But they never go too far, to the point of losing my interest.

  • ross

Listen to Kris’s studio version of ASWTDID sometime, it’s one of my faves from S8.

Remember when Slash said to Kris, “Are you really gonna play electric guitar on this song?

    Kris: “Why not?”

    Heh. Dude rules.

TwigLA, thanks for the OK Magazine link. Here’s the text in case people don’t wanna click off of MJ’s:

The celebrities making headlines right now are the old ones whose stardom is quickly fading. As part of OK!’s Year in Review we’ve taken some time to acknowledge the new stars who worked hard this year and whose time in the spotlight is still burning bright!
    ‘ ¢Kris Allen
Accomplishment of the Year: Oh ya know, that little contest he won called American Idol. Kris knocked his competition out on the show though he never thought it was in the bag. Kris told OK!, ‘I don’t think anybody considers themselves a front-runner. I don’t think Adam was like, ‘I’m the best,’ or Danny [Gokey] was like, ‘I’m the best,’ you know we don’t consider ourselves that way. And I definitely did not. I was striving harder and harder to get through every week. Well, he did and has since debuted his self titled album this year!
Why We Noticed: Kris became more noticed when everyone started asking, ‘Hey, where did Kris go?’ His runner-up, Adam Lambert, started to steal some of his spotlight and then his fans stepped in to help bring him back where he belonged! As the official winner, he should be noticed!
What to Expect Next: Performances! We want to see Kris in concert and put his talent to good use! He’s kicking off the new year right by performing for the Billboard’s New Year’s Eve Live special on the Fox network.

I believe Cook did last year. Will more than1 song each be broadcast? (Sorry if this has already been discussed.)

Haven’t had time to watch anything but Red Guitar. He always puts so much emotion into his singing, but he goes to a whole new level on Red Guitar, on the album, and here. That song must be really meaningful for him.

Mmm, I’ll take scruffy, leather jacket-wearing Kris any day.

  • jmom376

During the beginning of Red Guitar, it makes me laugh when after Kris says the introduction, he then goes over by Cale who says something to him and then Kris swats him and says “Yeah We Are”.. That cracks me up each time I see it.

Diane: I do like that version of CSA.. But for some reason the Charlotte one is my favorite so far..

  • babybelle32

It’s funny that anyone would think that Kris learned to be confident by “watching more confident people during the tour.” Out of the top ten finalists, Kris was the one who remained true to himself the most during the span of the show, that is a true sign of confidence. Over the past eight years I’ve seen some talented people fail on this show because they tried to change to please the judges or viewers, or they tried to copy another contestant. But with Kris, despite the fact that others where getting more attention from the producers, judges, and media, he remained true to himself, and didn’t try to change to get noticed. I think it’s one of the things people liked about him, and why he stuck around from one week to the next, and eventually won.

Madeformusic, you beat me to it. Anyone who can stand up under the pressure of AI, and not get sidetracked by everyone who is telling you what to do has a lot of confidence in himself. Yes, Kris has become more comfortable on stage since the tour ended, but that’s probably because he’s running the show now, and he doesn’t have to deal with the silliness of fan wars.

  • http://twitter.com/dianeramos4real Diane

jmom376, I love the Charlotte videos too. This is another favorite of mine (IIO):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGJtqs1fpcs

The henley fits Kris’s biceps so well that my husband asked if Kris had on a tank top when he saw him on the screen.

I enjoy watching Andrew grow as a musician also, not especially in this video although you can see little things here too.

    babybelle32 – good points.

Yes. You know what else I think is making him more confident? Having his own band. I love the way they work together to make the music happen. For Kris, it seems like music is a cooperative project between him, the other musicians and singers, and (often) his instrument. It’s not just about him being in the spotlight.

It’s one of the things I love about him, that connection you can sense between him and the other musicians.

  • gingerly

I really like Kris. I’d never turn him off my radio or TV. There’s many I can’t say that about. I’m probably in the minority as I’ve only ever purchased one Idol’s music, but Kris is somebody who I’m happy he won.

thanks for all the videos! Very good!
I’ve read the comments and some got my attention. About Kris confidence on the show; for me he always showed confidence in his performances and it all comes from this great attitude of his to always ‘do him’ and the best he can. Maybe what some read as non confidence was that he was a bit intimidated at times but never on his performances.
I don’t care if he shaves or not. Looks hot for me either way (i do prefer the shaving though – wish he does tonight for the big gig)

I like very much his different take on ANS at this show. Love how he makes significant changes and it’s still awesome. He’s a true artist

RG is a very nice song; the melody is very pretty.
One I would like to hear more is ‘Let it rain’ — love love the melody of it.

  • Mtlfan

i’m so jealous of him to have seen the ‘Love’ show in Vegas. I’m from the hometown of Cirque du soleil and haven’t seen one of their show yet.. booh to me :(

  • erinnthered

Gah! I wish I’d had the money for this. Had a place to stay and everything. Looks like a good show. Red Guitar sounds great live. I can see it will get better too. I honestly wasn’t as impressed with the album version.

Anyone know how big the crowd was? I’m sure a lot of people were just in Vegas that night and wanted a show. I hope he entertained them.

LOL erinnthered. In fact, I was saying that a bit ironically because he was labeled as a beer drinker by a certain journalist in a L.A interview pre or during the tour. He just shrugged at the whole thing then since he doesn’t care about petty details. He might wear plaid but he likes fine dining so he is sophisticated in that area (he seems however to drink only occasionally)

That’s my interpretation anyway- perhaps if someone was there they can enlighten us more!!

I finally got to a computer and can watch these instead of on my blackberry. Red Guitar is sooo much better than on the CD. Apart from Heartless, Red Guitar is my least favorite. I always thought it was due to the production, more than the song, and that was just verified for me.

Ok…Ain’t No Sunshine…yowza. I have no words for how good that was. That was better than his AI performances of the song. (forgive me if i’m repeating anything others have said, it’s been a few days since i’ve read this thread)
