I know we have talked about in previous threads about what items Kris should include in his display at the hall. What if he included the now famous red guitar? I know it has sentimental value but I think it would be a nice tribute.

Thanks GG. I was going through Kris withdrawal. He’s like candy crack. That can’t be bad, can it? I am so excited. Got my tickets for the NY show Oct. 17. Debated because I don’t like standing only concerts. For Kris I made a second exception. (Was at the Pgh. show – close – and he rocked it out.)

Aww – Kris in a tie – and it will be fun to see the full fashion choice – for Krris, Katy and probably Mama Allen (and who else?), too.

I will likely get to the Des Moines concert on November 12. (Amazingly a business trip brings me right through Des Moines on that day!). Tickets go on sale Sept 17. I called the venue and the rep said that from all the calls she was getting she expected the show to sell out. That was fun to hear. (And did I already post that in the last thread??? If so, sorry. I must be excited or something…)

About tonight – who really do we think will be attending to support Kris? Katy and Kris’ family for sure. But who else? GG, do you know anthing from Twitter?

Love the suit! I saw a picture from his wedding recently (of course also totally adorable), but he has certainly learned much more about how to buy a well fitting suit since then! He swims in the old one. Hope he sings tonight!

I agree but I think it reflects more on what he has done in his young life. The mission trips before idol and his continued charity focus after he won, Haiti, Rwanda, AR Children’s Hospital, Music Empowers Foundation. There are probably things that we don’t even know about. The music is a bonus. He has always represented himself, Katy, his family, his friends and the State of Arkansas well.

Cool that you got tickets for the Oct17 NYC show, Giavonna. I’m thinking about going to that show too…all of the other options nearby (Philadelphia, AC, and DC) just don’t work out with my schedule, so hopefully the NYC show will (and I’ll figure out before tickets sell out), because I don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get to see Kris again on this fall tour. I don’t think I’ve ever been this addicted to going to an artist’s concerts before!

I have seen Lizzie and I would say that is not her. When I saw Lizzie she was blond.

Falfor, Lizzie is the young blond woman in a lot of tour shots with the band. She runs the KrisAllen4Real Youtube site that has tour videos. From her tweets, she’s back in LA now. I think that lady is probably a PA for the Governor.

Falfor, it was probably one of the HOF board members escorting the inductees into the room.

Tonight I see it more in the context of a full circle moment for Kris. This was the first song he performed on AI and national tv. Now he is being honored by the state that gave him his start and supported him all the way.

I am sure they would all be beaming. Very nice for this to happen to such a good guy. Katy has to be very special. She always lets him shine. I saw her in Texas and she mixed into the crowd and never did try to garner any attention for herself. She just watched the show like everyone else.

Don’t feel that way all all. He could be my grandson. Yes I am probably the oldest on this board, but I am here tonight because he has held my interent since he won American Idol. I just love the man and the person that he is.

#It felt great to be inducted into the Arkansas HOF tonight! Thanks to everyone for helping me get to where I am today.

you know, some of these entries got me wondering again what it is about Kris. I think our fondness (mine at least) has to do with the entire package — he’s adorable, he seems at a distance like a thoroughly decent and caring person, he’s got a charming family, but all that wouldn’t add up to enough to keep me interested if he wasn’t very gifted. Though he hasn’t yet fully blossomed as a songwriter and recording artist, he’s got so much talent — as a guitarist, arranger, as a stage performer and as distinctive singer whose voice I can easily recognize, which to me as HUGE. He’s also got that certain something called TASTE, or perhaps its just taste that matches mine.! Though I don’t love every song on the first album, many of them have grown on me. He makes fine choices of strong, melodic songs to cover including MITM and LLWD, and he doesn’t gunk up his arrangements. (Other Idols I won’t mention have done that, by inclination or pressure, and have lost me in the process.)
AFter the Idol crowning, Keith Urban was quoted as saying that Kris had tremendous potential, and was at the stage where he could just grow by leaps and bounds. He’s grown enormously this year judging by all the videos the faithful have so faithfully shared. And if the gods are good, this is the beginning.

I’ve always loved that part too cookcricket . Its such a hard part to sing – he seems to keep going on the one breath . I just love how he plays the guitar here .
I felt like a proud Mum watching this- he seemed so nervous accepting his award [ he's someone who loves to give to others but seems to be very shy about receiving accolades back!!] however as soon as he started singing- the nerves went away & he sounded terrific. I teared up at the end when he thanked his family & then said about Katy being the prettiest in the room- could he be any more adorable!!

Isn’t it wonderful to be in the public eye and be so photogenic.
Just point a camera and shoot and chances are the results are great. I don’t know what kind of story he was telling when he was waiting to be escorted by that lady; he was so animated.
And yes, on some of the photos, he appeared to be nervous. I don’t blame him.

He must be pinching himself sometimes. Three years ago, he was just
singing in his living room, small cafe, etc, and now talking with governors, going to Oscar parties, jamming with Keith Urban, having fans following him around his concerts, etc.

Me too. Kris has the best ever fans!! They will fight to the finish to support TT, despite the controversy surrounding that song, simply because they love Kris and want him to be successful. Kris is so humble that the devotion of his fans must boggle his mind at times.

ETA Need to add that the song is worth fighting for in my opinion. Just watched TT on the countdown for the first time and it looked even more beautiful on the tv screen.

I made it a point to watch vh1 countdown too and I was pleasantly surprised to see the Truth at #5. Woohoo!!! I voted this week and intend to vote again this week too. I hope we can at least keep it where it is or maybe move it closer to #1. I’ve yet to hear the song on our local stations but they are always notoriously late to pick up new songs anyway. It took them awhile before they played LLWD too. I just recently heard Adam’s newest song on there last week. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Checking out scrores and saw where Kris’ Razorbacks and Central Arkansas both won. Central Arkansas won over a nationally ranked (#16) Eastern Illinois bigtime. So Kris is covered on both bases.

Thank you everyone for keeping posting news about Kris. I check this site every day to see any new thing about Kris cause I don’t want to miss anything about Kris. I don’t know why I can’t stay away from Kris. I love Kris since the first time I saw him on top 13. I miss top 36.

I do recall he and Cale got pretty shaggy at one point when they had a few days off. Was that just before he sang TT on AI? I do recall the whole band got massive hair cuts for that gig. All except Torres of course!

I did a second look and I vote mustache. Whatever it is he still looks great. It’s cool how he just kind of blends in with the crowd too. I really don’t think he has any idea of his own fame. I guess he takes it in stride when people approach him for pictures and autographs and the like. I agree wholeheartedly with ilka39 about this thread being kept alive. As expected Kris was back at New Life Church today. It’s been a while since he has been back.

This is what I think would be really hard for Kris. Before idol he was so involved with his church & over the past few months with being on the road – he would not have had that constant input. I think having Cale with him probably helps to keep them both accountable though!!

Given there is no reason to think Kris’ faith is any less important to him than it was before AI, I would assume like you Judes that while on tour he might miss experiencing his faith in a church community. But since he carries his faith with him, and since like you said, he has Cale with him for “faith community,” they (if they want to) can have a different kind of “church” while on tour. Who knows, maybe there are others with them that share the same faith, too. And for fall tour, some members of Lifehouse have expressed similar faith.

I just hope that when he does get to go to the church of his choice that he can do so without being singled out as a celebrity cuz of all places that his personal life should be respected I would think church would qualify.

I really enjoy Cales sense of humour (I am not liking the new version of LLWD though, I don’t think it will catch on,lol!) Heard LLWD on the car radio this morning, it still sounds so good, never heard TT though, I have more or less given up on that song here.
Glad Kris got to go to his church and the football, to do the more ‘normal’ things he did before idol…..is it October 15 yet!

Oooh, thanks for the reminder, Kris! I’ve been voting for TT along with the Plain White T’s song—really like that one. I think it will do well (heard it being used as a promo for Parenthood tv show–why can’t TT be picked up like that?). I also think Rhythm of Love takes AWM out of the running as THE bouncy, acoustic fall song for me if that is at all a consideration in the “maybe they’ll be a third single” debate. For the sake of conversation, I’d have to say I think I’m on the WAOMF team for now, in spite of the Script connection and lack of Kris co-write. It just seems like the song most likely to get played on pop radio to me and keep Kris’ name out there until the next album drops. Anyone agree or disagree?

hoosiermama I may be wrong about this but wasn’t there an interview with Slezak (I think) and they were talking about his first two singles not being cowrites and waomf was mentioned as a third single and kris said no. Then the interviewer said they were running out of options of non cowrites and Kris said pretty much. Kris made it sound like he wanted a cowrite as the next single. Of course I don’t think Kris had much say in anything to do with TT (except for input into the mv) so who knows what tptb would choose. After all the mistakes they made with TT I think Kris would be very nervous/worried about what they will do with next single. I can’t wait for the next album, I hope all the songs are cowrites then that will be a non-issue.

As for the whole faith and not being able to go to church on tour thing, Kris has said that the one ritual he and the band do before going on stage is to say a little prayer (and then do a cheer).

Thanks FaithfulFan for reminding me of that article—it was such an excellent interview (love you Slezak!!). The key paragraph was this:

A lot of people were saying David Cook’s album — the label did not go with the David Cook-penned singles to launch the album. And now we’re seeing that happening with you. You wrote or co-wrote the bulk of the album, but the first two singles were not ones you had a hand in writing. Are you going to stamp your feet if the third single doesn’t turn out to be a Kris Allen co-write? Or is it a case of “whatever works at radio”?
It’s a little of both, I guess. That said, the only other option on the album [where that scenario could play out] is “Written All Over My Face,” and I really don’t think [that's likely]. I was part of the writing process on every other song on the album [except "Live Like We're Dying," "The Truth," and "Written All Over My Face"]. So yeah, I think it’s a really, really, really good chance the next single will be something I had a hand in writing. [Laughs.]

It will be interesting to see if Kris will stamp his feet in favor of one of his songs. I guess I would go with CSA then. I do love his voice on it–especially the beginning when he starts so strong. And we all know that he can perform the heck out of it live! This picking new singles is a nerve wracking business and I agree with you—all co-writes for the next album so we don’t have to worry about “deals” or fake “duets” or whatever.

VH1 is removing The Truth music video from its playlist starting Monday. Which seems odd (despite the song’s rapid fall on Hot AC chart) since it just jumped 7 spots in the countdown from 2 weeks ago to this past week.

It would be nice if they were doing this in anticipation of a 3rd single release, but that’s probably just wishful thinking

Why would VH1 remove The Truth from its playlist when they have it showing up as the number two most watched video? That just doesn’t add up. Is that just the rotation of videos they show or is it also going to be removed from the countdown? It seems like this song just can’t catch a break. It sounds to me like the powers that be should release something else from Kris’s cd asap. We sure don’t need him to loose steam when he’s touring with these other bands and gaining new fans. People have short memories and that’s why we need for him to be heard on the radio as much as possible. I am curious to see where the video landed this week on the top twenty countdown. On a happy note, a friend of my parents sent me the picture of Kris that appeared in the State College newspaper prior to his concert there. I had to laugh that they used a pic of him singing No Boundaries after he won Idol (can tell from clothes and swaybots in background) and he has his mouth wide open and eyes closed! The caption identified him as the winner of season 8 and he’s on tour promoting his debut album which features the singles LLWD and TT with Train’s Pat Monahan. So good info, just wonky picture! (I still <3 it!!)

I just went to VH1′s voting site and they’ve already removed The Truth from the choices:( I’ve notice that when they show the promo stuff they never show Kris but they always show Adam even though his newest video has constantly been around #16 for weeks now. I don’t mean to sound bitter, but they don’t seem to support Kris at all. I don’t know yet if TT even made it to their countdown since it just came on here at nine. This whole thing makes me really angry and sad at the same time. It’s not like they don’t showcase artists from the same genre. They do seem to be biased against Kris though.

Kris and Katy had a bunch of friends over to watch the Arkansas game today. It just ended — with Arkansas winning on a cray late-second TD. Charles videoed their reaction (see link)– they are all WAY too calm. If it were my team, I’d be jumping around like a crazy person

The Truth was #9 on the VH1 countdown this week

OK I will be the first to admit I am not at all knowledgeable about how these things work since Kris is the first one I’ve followed but I really do not understand why vh1 pulled TT from the top 20 countdown voting list and left songs on there that are not even in the top 20 even though they have been on the list as long as TT was on it (or longer). Jeez, first all the radio stations stop spinning it at the same time (is that normal for a song in the top 20 on hac?) and then vh1 pulls it after a month when it is #9. Also strange that when Kris did some radio gigs they still wouldn’t play TT. I’m beginning to think either this song was jinxed from the beginning or there is something going on behind the scenes that we’re not aware of? Maybe this is normal but to me seems like TT just didn’t get enough exposure to see how well it could really sell. I guess the lyrics didn’t have enough cuss words and promote violence or teenage sexual promiscuity for it to be a hit. End of rant!

I was stunned when I went to the VH1 site and found no Kris! What! I agree with your comments, it makes no sense at all. The only good thing is to remember that Kris has a fall tour lined up and it sounds sure (I hope) that there will be a 2nd record.

Thanks to @charlesbrowder we can see that Kris is still happy and having fun with his friends and family. It is revealing the Kris and Katy went back home to the apartment they had before all the Idol whirlwind began. Kris is not after fame, he just wants to live a good life and make music that people want to hear.

I really have no clue about VH1 & how they choose which videos to stay & which ones to move off but it does seem like a very frustrating system. Even though Kris’s video went down slightly this week , it was still in the Top 10 !! Maybe Jive have been working on something in the background or have realised they made a mistake putting in Pat for TT [ although that would probably be giving them more credit than they deserve ].
I know that the contacts Kris has made this year in playing with these other bands & his talent overall, will help in the long run but its frustrating when artists with less talent but more “shockability” get more attention & sales. The Australian Top 10 on i-Tunes astounds me – Katy Perry was the best of a bad lot!!

What keeps me thinking positively is that Kris seems to be really enjoying what he is doing & is working on songs for another album.Also with each day it is getting closer to the Tour with Lifehouse -so that inspires me whenever anything negative happens!!

Woot! Less than a month until Kris rocks NY! I am dragging a friend with me who is not a fan. She does think Kris is adorbs. I think her opinion of his music will change after she sees him live. If not, each to her own. We are going to have a blast Sunday Oct 17th.

I’ve been signing in to some other posts and leaving comments since I thought this one was done. The countdown post and another one for something related to that is where I was posting. I’m so glad people are still having conversations that are keeping us going until the concerts start up again. I’m still not happy over VH1 dropping TT when it was still in the top ten. Have they done that for any other videos? I think the whole problem with this video was that it showed up way too late after the song came out,so it had a feeling of disconnect. Radio had already limited it’s airtime (when they played it at all), so it was kind of too little too late IMHO. TPTB just need to move on and release another song (with the video corresponding to it’s release) ASAP. I hope they will give Kris another single from this CD. There are many which they could choose from but AWM might be the best choice. Sorry for the rant. I needed to vent. ilka39, I hope you heal up really fast.

I remember that AI8 video of Danny, Matt and Kris. I really enjoy watching those behind the scenes interviews of the idols. Specially the ones where they interview each other. I want to see the one where Kris and Anoop were interviewed and later realized Anoop’s open fly. Can’t find but that was so funny. I was interested because Jacob Hoggard, the lead singer of Hedley, and Kris, are my two favorite Idol contestants (Jacob was Top 3 on Canadian Idol, season 2. He’s around the same age as Kris). They’re very different, but they have some of the same musical qualities. Songwriting, guitar, keyboards, as well as singing. Hedley is a very successful pop/pop punk band from Vancouver; they’re trying to break into the US right now. Their US radio gigs so far have featured Jacob and the band’s guitar player, Dave Rosin, rather than the full band. Anyhow, I wonder where that person got their info, because I’ve seen nothing else anywhere.

KAO has a post about the USO tour. Seems they have been doing a much better job recently with posting news. Anyway in the comments someone mentioned 4 confirmed dates: 9/29 in Netherlands and 9/30, 10/1 and 10/3 in Germany. The fans are asking for videos from the tour so maybe we will be lucky and get some, hope so. One commenter said she was looking at one of the bases facebook page and they are giving away backstage passes and that it was nice to see people so excited about Kris coming there. I don’t have a facebook account so i can’t check it out but I know some posters here do so thought I would mention it.

ross, when I first looked at the USO’s page it didn’t show anyone going to Afghanistan/Iraq for the remainder of the year (though others went earlier in the year), which I interpreted as it being simply too dangerous. I haven’t gone back to that page (don’t have the link) to see if others have been added. Maybe someone here still has that link? Of course, my “interpreting” and the actual reason are two different things–lol!! Maybe Kris will address it at some point.

It is interesting that you mention about Kris going to forward areas during his USO tour. I remember Kris said something like, “It would be scary but if they can go & fight, I can go and sing for them.”

I think that Iraq is off the table due to the troop pull out. Iraq is now not supposed to be a “forward area”. Afghanistan is off the table due to the fact it has just heated up in terms of violence.

I am thrilled that Kris is doing a USO tour. I hope the band goes too. Where ever he plays, Kris will give it all his best and I am sure the troops will enjoy.

Please may they all come home safe; Kris, the band, and all our troops.

Ross – all I know is that my brother-in-law went over with the British Army that was based in Germany but he had deployments for several months at a time at that stage in Bosnia [he saw mates blown up either side of him & couldn't walk on gravel for several years after that] I would imagine that this would still be the case in Germany & the Netherlands. There would be many soldiers who have been ïn the “thick of the action” & since returned to “bass’ so to speak! These are the ones that need entertainment to take their minds off what they have been through!!
From what I understand of the Afghanistan situation[ I have another brother-in-law going there next year] I do believe it has changed for the worse since Kris first found out he was going & so now would be too risky to go there!!
I am so sick of hearing others complain when artists sing for the troops that its just for publicity- they obviously have had no family member involved in fighting!! So I too would love there to be videos of Kris’s performace- which may be more likely now as he’s not going to the “hot spots”!!

Wonder if Lizzie will be going? She seems to be Kris’s shadow, and she would be able to take videos. In addition to vids of the performances it would be nice to see behind the scenes footage of Kris interacting with the soldiers (is that allowed?). I think the troops would find it cool/entertaining to be able to watch themselves having fun for a change and I’m a sucker for those clips they show during the holidays of soldiers wishing a happy holiday to family back home.

Have to add I hope Kris does not go to the hot spots. There seems to be a lot of tension over there right now. But, knowing Kris, if he is asked, he will go. That said, I sympathize with all who have or had loved ones in the military overseas. My ex-husband and many family and friends were in Viet Nam (only lost two, thank god) and it is not a pleasant thing to endure. I have high regard for the soldiers for as judes mentioned I know many veterans who still suffer from the memories all these years later. So kudos to Kris for wanting to entertain them and *#&% the critics.

I thought some of the venues seemed kind of small, considering Kris’s relative fame as an Idol winner. I’m glad that people there seem to be getting excited about seeing Kris – I just hope everyone who wants to see him gets in.

ross Sorry, maybe critics isn’t the right word. I was referring to those who complain artists just use the USO tours as a publicity stunt. Seems they should be happy someone is doing something for the troops and spin it in a positive way rather than put a negative spin on it. To me, it makes them appear unappreciative. Sorry, didn’t mean to come across as nasty in the previous post, but the treatment of soldiers is kinda a touchy subject with me. Been there, done that with all the anti-war sentiment during the Viet Nam conflict and the way soldiers were treated by fellow US citizens (guess you had to be there to fully understand, it was a turbulent time). Maybe instead of the word critics I should have just said complainers. Anyway, my point was that Kris performing for the troops is an awesome thing.

I agree it’s so Awesome.I found out today that hubby well be leaving around the 18th of next month.So it’s going to be here very soon.I’M thinking about going to School online for Computers,so if I do I’ll not be on as much.That’s what I’ve been doing lately trying to find Schools. And to see what kind of help I can get for loans and grants etc.The one am looking into I’ll be able to start on the 4th of Oct. It well help me get throw deployment.Also my niece is still here and she’ll be having her baby right after my hubby leaves.So next month is just going to be so crazy.

I’ve just watched our AFL Grand Final [ 1000's watch worldwide] , which had a draw so they have to come back next week & play it again. The closest we have to “calling the hogs’is the players singing the club song if they win- well no-one sang yesterday!!

Not to distract from the football excitement, but moving on from a heartbreaker.

I understand that Gina Orr used to be Kris’s PR person and she recently quit her job to start her own company & took one client which was Mama Sox. I was not at all displeased with this turn of events since Kris’s PR never seemed very good & his website was months out of date.

Recently krisallenofficial.com has been pretty good. They get the news up fast and even have added some videos. Maybe Kris has been given a new PR person who really cares about him. Any info on who it might be? Kris works so hard. He supports so many great causes. Kris deserves a great team backing him up.
