American Idol season 8 winner, Kris Allen, took his show to the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles last night. His fan request of the night actually came from his opening act, singer, Jillette Johnson.

Listen to the two duet on Ryan Adams’ lovely “Oh My Sweet Carolina” below.

Lovely performance to listen to before heading off to bed. Glad everyone had fun at the show!

    Really lovely.
I was a bit hesitant to listen because I am such a huge Ryan Adams’ fan but was too curious not to with it being Kris
Ryan is a brilliant songwriter and am so pleased to read that people plan to check him out.

I haven’t really liked Kris and Jillette’s duets on Love Me Not since I think Kris always sings rings around her (it’s almost like she can’t hear herself and sings too loud and not very tunefully at times).

But this was lovely. Kris is always awesome and Jillette sang with more restraint. Very pretty. Could you call this sound Americana? I love its timeless quality.

Thanks. This was my 2nd time seeing Kris. I saw him last year at the Mint. I think I should just stop thinking that the ‘Idol bubble’ is reality. It is not.

On Jillette – her set was VERY LOUD even though it was just her voice, her keyboard and a cellist. I had read some comments regarding the HC acoustics on yelp that some shows are too loud, so I chalked it up to that. However, when Kris and his band came on the sound level was very pleasant.

I think her voice can be best described as strident. This song and the duet of ‘Loves Me Not’ are still lovely, though.

Lovely duet . I love how well Kris’s voice blends in duets -male & female.
I can’t believe Jennifer Lopez didn’t know who Ryan Adams was -he’s been around since the 90′s & is regarded as alternative country in America. He’s quite well known here in Australia as well. My kids really like him & have quite a few of his albums.
Glad at Kris’s concerts are going well. Hope he doesn’t delay his wrist being healed by banging it with a tambourine. Not sure that’s what the doctor meant when he said move it.
