I am still waiting for a concert announcement in my area. I really want to see him with his band rocking out.

The acoustic versions of DWTP have all been amazing. I know it wouldn’t work, but I almost wish that that the label was planning on releasing an acoustic version of the song to radio.

Even with the bad sound quality, Kris sounded great, and the audience really seemed to be into his set. I love how he really got into performing “Come Together.”

Agreed. I didn’t think Allison could pull of an acoustic Holiday, but she did it. Heartbreaker was amazing. And her upcoming collaboration with Orianthi is bound to be mindblowing. I can’t wait.

Allison is getting more and more comfortable, and polished, in front of an audience. Really impressed with this acoustic set. And, I’m glad to see she opened with Holiday. I think it’s a natural opener, especially with a full band.

I do agree with you but the finale is also about the prior year’s winner putting the period on their season. David Cook had a very emotional moment last year that is still talked about today. There will be many moments during that show but the ultimate moment will be when the new winner is announced.

He shouldn’t be competing with anyone – and should just graciously be low key and give the spotlight to Season 9.

Kris isn’t competing against anyone, he doesn’t have to, since he already won AI almost a year ago. That doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t put on the best showcase for his new single. The song is an emotional song, so Kris should do everything he can to get that emotion across to the audience. Nobody who will be performing that night will change their performances to showcase the final two, and there is no reason why they would have to.

Kris having his moment in he spotlight won’t take the spotlight away from anyone else.

Kris was fantastic and the crowd sounded great. I can’t wait to see the pics and videos. Sound quality wasn’t the best on the live stream, but we’re used to that from the tour streams.

I thought that Z100 is like KISS 102.7 FM and it is not a radio station that usually spins the kind of song like TT.

Kris is almost an hour late to the radion station Q102 in Philly and they keep teasing the chatroom by playing the first few bars of The Truth. He may not get a full interview but they are waiting for him to play The Truth. He may not make it.

This show is syndicated to several other top 40 stations, so hopefully Kris will arrive before the show ends.

It will be THE moment for me too. I couldn’t give a flying flip about any of this years contestants so I will be watching the finale for Kris and only Kris.

I honestly don’t think that Kris was ever in danger of rushing the stage, ripping the mic out of Seacrest’s hand, running up to the judges’ desk, grabbing hold of the AI seal while frantically sobbing “Mine! Mine! Mine!” just as Ryan was about to announce the winner. Nor do I think it likely that he will give the new winner an automic wedgy while they are trying to sing the coronation song. I’m sure he will be gracious.

Just as I’m sure that AI does better when the people that come on the show try their best to sing well. It helps nobody for any of the guests to throttle back their performance. Somebody may tune in to see the other stars and fall in love with the new winner too. If people get to know that perfomers come on the show and put on sub-par performances in order to let the winner shine a little more brightly, maybe they won’t watch the next year or maybe they will turn off the tv half-way through the show this year. The goal of everybody associated with the finale should be to put on the best show possible. Plus, purposely not trying your best in an attempt to make the winner look better is kind of a diss to the winner, no? It implies you don’t think they can shine on their own. Plus, if the last winner sucks, it kind of diminishes the entire prize.

So, Kris isn’t competing with anyone, but having a moment helps himself, the show and the eventual winner, so he should go for it if he can.

What? The finale won’t be about Kris? Really? And he shouldn’t be competing with anyone? You’re kidding! I always thought the past year’s winner was supposed to come on the finale and compete with the current winners. That is a real surprise to me. I hear that Kris is with his band right now figuring out strategies to steal the spotlight from the eventual winner. He’d be very surprised to find out this is not expected of him and that he should be gracious. I mean, what fun is that? The music business is a cutthroat business and if there’s one thing I know about Kris Allen is that he’s all about “Me me me.”

Kris did say in the chat at Q102 in Philly that the band starts tour rehersals Monday. He confirmed his finale appearance as if we didn’t already know. He does not know when a video for TT will be shot and he assured peeps that they will essentially be playing all the songs on the album including BIB, FTA and INTK. Most of the questions were lame. For the ladies bad news Andrew is not available but Chris T. is.

Kris was so fun, almost giddy, on the livestream. I love seeing him like that. I hope the djs got a lot of good questions to ask him for the segment that they are going to tape. (ETA: I was trying to stay positive, but tripp_ncwy is right, most of the questions in the chat were lame, and repetitive. Hopefully, the questions via Skype and twitter were deeper than “take your shirt off.”)

AI is not building the finale around the previous year’s winner. Kris will only get at the most 5 mins on the 2 hr finale, the same amount of time he got when he performed for the Haiti relief. The media attention will be with the winner, as it always is. If Kris is interviewed he will likely be asked about Season 9, the Final 2, and the eventual winner. It will be basically be another performance for Kris. I doubt this will be his pivotal moment to shine. If anything, I can see the media (especially those who are not fans) going after him and comparing his win to the new winner. I honestly think that will work against Kris, especially if someone like Crystal Bowersox wins.

I am so looking forward to seeing Kris on the finale and hope he hits it out of the park, just like he did with his performance of Let It Be – a performance I will never forget and to this day love with all my heart!!

That’s right, and I hope he puts on an awesome show during those five minutes. He’s a great performer, and TT is a great song, so even if the finale isn’t about Kris, I’m sure the millions of people who voted for him last year will enjoy one last chance to see the reigning AI sing before the new one is crowned. And if, as you said, the press the next day won’t be about Kris anyway, why shouldn’t he perform brilliantly on the show as we know he can do?

There’s nothing wrong with Kris’s peeps and how they schedule him. He was on a little family trip before this and weather caused his flight last night to be cancelled. That’s why he had such a long day. Also, lol at anyone who is causing wank over Kris performing on the finale. He will do a great job, and it will be great exposure for the song. I believe the question about the scheduling is based on what time the concert ended, how did they expect him to get from the park to the radio station by 9 o’clock. It’s always so easy to tell when Kris is doing well, and getting great opportunities. When the finale comes, Kris will perform, and even though I highly doubt that anyone who matters will care about idiotic conspiracy theories about a win that happened over a year ago (most intelligent people moved on long ago), I do think people will be talking about the emotional performance of The Truth.

Finally heard TT on AOL Radio New Pop Hits just a while ago. I’m happy that this song will be pushed to pop stations. If Z100 really spins TT, that would really be major as that would convince other pop stations to follow suit.

They won’t have to deal with a stigma that has lead Kris to do over 70 concerts since September, having a platinum hit song, traveling all around the country, living his dream, and being able to buy land so that he will be able to build his first home.

AI fans have a problem with letting things go. You can still find message boards where Diana DeGarmo fans are bashing Fantasia. The good news is that AI fans are the minority, and their brand of crazy really doesn’t translate to the majority of people that AI alums have to appeal to.

The sound isn’t the greatest, but I love the passion in his performance. I like it sans guitar. If Kris gives a performance like this at the Finale, he could definitely have a “moment” (at least for us Kris fans).

Well, Kris is headlining his own tour this summer (with GRO opening for him), but given the other amazing opportunities Kris has had (playing Madison Square Garden, headlining a performance in front of 17K people in Asia, performing on all the late night talk shows, opening for huge acts like Keith Urban and Maroon 5, going to Haiti and Rwanda), I can’t imagine it has ever crossed his mind to begrudge the opportunities of others. It’s not really surprising, though, that his fans who love him would want even more opportunities for him.

Yes, it looks like Jive digitally released the song to top 40 stations last week, and a handful of them have already played the song. The show that Kris was on tonight is simulcast on at least three top 40 stations. The song hasn’t gone for adds yet at CHR, but that will probably happen during the next few weeks.

The Finale is not about one emotional performance but several , that’s why I always enjoy it .

I totally agree. For me last year, David Cook’s performance of Permanent was the most emotional for me besides We Are the Champions (honestly, No Bourndaries fell a little flat for me…that song should not be sung live ever!) Hopefully, Kris can deliver a passionate peformance of The Truth and help sell the single and album.

Well darn it all to pieces! Why didn’t someone warn me last year when I wasn’t supposed to be excited and pleased to see one of my favorite singers (who also happened to be the previous year’s winner) on the finale! I’m really mad because I can’t go to the Nashville show. Why do they schedule a concert for 10pm on a monday. I hope somthing comes up and the time is changed.

I will have to drive for only 25 miles to getthere but here I am unable to go because of the time :\
I just can’t get over it.

LOL, babybelle. I was just thinking about the same population stats. With only about 6% of the US even watching AI, and a much smaller % watching any of the entertainment shows on which AI ppl appear, it’s a wonder any of us ever meet anyone who can name an AI contestant (other than the few contestants who actually have had massive success outside the bubble).

All those girls and guys shouting their hearts out at MSG, AMP LIVE in Michigan and Six Flags today were AI fans.
Guess what? they know who Kris is because of LLWD, yes.

Kris is accomplishing exactly what he said right from the beginning he wanted to. His music would speak for him. He’s not aimming at being the next superstar. He wants to make music and grow a decent career out of it for the rest of his life and he’s on the right path, IMO.

John Mayer and co started just like this and look where they are today. He’sworking his ass off and all it would do is pay off for him.
I can’t wait for him to be free like David Cook is since he handed over and I know Kris can’t wait either.

I think the Heartless link was put up earlier in this thread, but I just had a chance to listen to it, and wow. Love the way Kris really drew out the note on “soul” at the beginning. He and the band were really on tonight.

Every time I watch the videos of “Heartless” — first of all I enjoy them, and second of all I smile because my 4 yr old made Kris his #1 Idol after he heard him do this song. Going to have to play this video for him tomorrow!

Oh, I thought you were comparing them. Hmmm….OK, I guess not. As far as stigma, I doubt very much that Kris sees it that way. He won a very buzzworthy season of AI, and so far is earning respect on many fronts. His career may have started out a little quieter, but frankly, whoever wins S9 could only dream of having the talent and abilities of Kris Allen. Stigma indeed!

They should add a wind effect when Kris does The Truth for the finale. I dunno, I can picture some totally epic effects during that song. Some epic wind effects from the ground. Including one powerful gust that accidentally lifts Kris’s shirt up and flaunts his body. Not that I wanna see it, but it should totally happen. Kara would probably dump Casey >_>.

I think Kris should ditch the guitar for AWM. Break out in Single Ladies-esque dance, just like Slezak said (and I said before Slezak which means I’m an effing genius).

Yes, it looks like Jive digitally released the song to top 40 stations last week, and a handful of them have already played the song. The show that Kris was on tonight is simulcast on at least three top 40 stations. The song hasn’t gone for adds yet at CHR, but that will probably happen during the next few weeks.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Pop adds date go up in a couple of weeks or so. The Truth had Pop spins in the last 24-48 hours in Louisville, Harrisburg PA, Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, Green Bay, & Birmingham, AL. Just in the last two hours, the Pop stations in Salt Lake City & Tucson played TT for the first time.

The Six Flags concert today was sponsored by Z100, and with their teaser tweets today about playing TT, it seems likely they’re going to be on board soon. I don’t know why they’d RT tweets about playing it to Kris & KAB if they weren’t going to start spinning it. So, it appears Pop is willing to accept TT even without the song having officially gone for adds on that format. Totally awesome.

I’m looking forward to seeing more of the videos from today – there are a lot starting to get posted on YouTube as we speak. Kris performs this song very well live, so it should be a great performance on the Finale, I’m really excited about it.

Great videos! This live version of The Truth gets better every time I hear it. Kris has a great band and it sounds like they’re getting it worked out. Looking forward to hearing it on the finale.

I assume you mean at the concert tonight? No, they didn’t duet. Kris was supposed to be in Philly at 9pm to be on a syndicated radio show, so his set was pretty short, and he didn’t do an encore. As it was, he was still almost an hour late for his interview.

Thanks vtu. Seems like there’s no debut of new songs from Kris. I hope I have the patience to wait for that. And yeah for Z100 adding TT. If they start spinning the song, there might still be hope for TT since Z100 is the biggest pop station and is seen as a trendsetter which other stations follow suit.

I think TT is doing great on HAC thus far. It’ll probably be in the top 40 in that format in the next few days. As for Pop, yes, it will be huge if Z100 starts playing him. They launched LLWD for him, so here’s hoping they can do the same for TT.

OK, I usually HATE those caricature sketches done at most tourist stops, but these are really good!

Since when does a one song performance all of a sudden become an “all about him” theme?????? I don’t give a hoot about what anyone thinks, I am excited to see him perform on American Idol again because he is my favorite – for me it’s just that simple and I can hardly wait!

Just stopping by and… did I miss something? The previous season winner always performs at the finale and retires his crown as Your American Idol before Your (Next) American Idol is crowned. I’m sure it’s even a contractual obligation, not that any of them would mind as it’s great exposure. Kris will get a chance to sing The Truth. It’s all good!

I’m very disappointed that I didn’t get to see Allison and Kris yesterday at Great Adventure. It was a beautiful day here in Jersey but we had other obligations. Thanks all of you who took and posted pics and video (especially you, MJ, for hosting)!

Ratna12, you are right, I’ve heard some pretty off the wall comments, on KIIS, never directly bad about Kris, but never for him either. He’s been called the other guy, more than once in conversations about AI season 8. I remember listening to the show to hear LLWD because it was #32 and I thought I would get to hear it on the radio. Somehow, it got skipped over that week. It never played. #33 played, then went to #31.
No question that Kris will be gracious, just as he always is. How could anyone think otherwise. The finale is not about the goodbye from the current idol, (although it is the exit walk) but to introduce a new up and coming artist. More than a moment, (5 minutes is all anyone gets when they appear on AI) When Kris sings on AI, he should also get a sales bump.

Is this for real? I think Z100 and Jive have a close relationship so maybe that explains the concert. For Z100 to add TT would be pretty monumental. I, too am excited for him to perform on the finale, and I don’t think it was a forgone conclusion he would be, so I am letting out a huge sigh of relief. Wonder who else will be performing?

I love hearing people singing along, and I think that most be such a thrill for Kris. I remember an interview right after he won AI, where he said that one of the things that he was looking forward to the most was seeing people sing along to a song that he had written. Yesterday, there were reports that people were singing along to all the songs, not just LLWD. A few months ago, hearing the crowd of 25,000 at MSG sing along to LLWD almost made me cry.

The. passion.

So there, so real.

When this guy sings, you believe him. And his voice (to me anyway) sounds like no one else’s. And the band is hot.

End of story.

But why o why couldn’t “Can’t Get Away From You” been the next single?? people would be singing along with that one in no time….

Last year the highlights for me were David Cook’s ‘Permanent’, Kris with Keith Urban, the duet of Adam and Kris with Queen, and Allison with Cyndi Lauper. I wasn’t fond of any of the other guest stars and can barely remember any of the other performances. But overall the show was enjoyable and no matter who wins, the final tally and crowning is always exciting to me.

The Finale is always about the final two and that is their night to shine. They are also who will be making the media rounds after the show. We’ll see the pre-show arrivals of alumni and guests and interviews which are also always fun.

They finally got it right with ‘Don’t Waste the Pretty’. I’m hoping it gets airplay. Allison is a fantastic talent and she deserves to be heard.

I’ve flip flopped on Allison’s singles so much. I thought FIBOU didn’t display her talent, but since it was so catchy it should have done well on radio. I always knew that Scars would bomb, it would be a hit for someone who is established, like P!nk, but it was a horrible choice for a new artist. I’m not crazy about the album version of DWTP, but the acoustic versions are so beautiful, and maybe a new version with Orianthi could work.

But, lately, I’ve really started to like Holiday, which I think could get some attention during the summer, especially from younger radio listeners. I don’t know what Jive should do, but it seems like they may have a plan.

I like to hear people singing along, too. It’s great, to me, to see and hear enthusiastic crowds. It gives me a real thrill. There’s nothing like a live performance, and having a raw recording of that is cool. It spoils the perfection of the video to hear the crowd, but after all it’s just a home video of a concert, so what else can you expect? Anyway, we’re really lucky to have all this video nowadays.

Nothing wrong with Kris’s single sales or the amount of royalities that Kris pulls into Jive for airplay. The market has changed for how money is made by the record companies. Money is made from slow and steady too.

Kris did his dues with personally visiting lots of radio stations and I think the radio stations really seemed to like Kris, so I would like to think that Kris’s hard work pays off.

Would love to see more of Allison, I feel like TPTB including Jive don’t know what to do with Allison. It’s not that hard. Just let Allison be Allison and she would do well.

Kris did say in the chat at Q102 in Philly that the band starts tour rehersals Monday. He confirmed his finale appearance as if we didn’t already know. He does not know when a video for TT will be shot and he assured peeps that they will essentially be playing all the songs on the album including BIB, FTA and INTK. Most of the questions were lame. For the ladies bad news Andrew is not available but Chris T. is.

Wow, I listened last night for the whole thing, but trying to read the twitter feed just gave me a headache. And Kris spoke so softly, I couldn’t make out half what he was saying. One of the ones I heard was that he said “Not going to happen” answer to the comment to take his shirt off. LOL.

If Z100 understands money, then I’m sure they understand that LLWD was a big hit. They also understand that the listeners in their area loved the song so much that it was even picked up by the heavily rhythmically leaning pop station in the city. They also see how much the listeners to their station like Kris, as witnessed by the response that he received at both the Jingle Ball and the event on Saturday.

It seems to me that if Z100 was so worried about Kris’ numbers, they wouldn’t have asked him to perform at the event. That seems like basic logic to me, there had to be a reason why they felt he could draw a crowd.

I really think that Kris / his handler should make filming this video a priority. I know that Kris is super busy, but by the time AI S9 is finished, he starts his tour and I don’t know how he can have the time.

I want Kris to shoot a video that people that NOT necessarily his fans will want to click and watch and listen to. I read somewhere (here or a tweet) that it would be great if Kate Beckinsale be the girl in the video. Something like that. In any case I want a girl in the video so there is a storyline. And I want to see a romantic Kris :) With tight T-shirt :) And I’ll buy the mp4 from ITune :)

I don’t see how the red prevents her from embracing her latina roots, as she has apparently done her whole life. I like the red, I like the brown, but the red makes her stand out even more.

How can anyone say that Kris Allen is not doing well? Ok, maybe his album sales are not what others are but his first single has sold over 1 million copies. I would rather invest in the try and true rather than the fast and burn out. Kris is the slow and steady star and he will go far. He picks up new fans every day and he will continue to do so. No worries with Kris. None at all!

Conversely, some of his songs reduce me to tears as did ‘Let It Be’ and ‘Send Me All Your Angels’. I felt he was singing from my soul.
