Elliegrll, I think the song would do well in the fall too. People need to cheer up then too IMO .. but I’ll will always think that it should have been the 2nd release nevertheless. Only time will tell, maybe that after the TT, Kris will be more known and then AWM will have a greater impact for him… it’s just hard to predict

I just got back from the concert (had to leave early due to early day at work tomorrow combined with some mehness on the part of the friend I went with that BNL circa 2010 is not the same as BNL circa earlier this past decade). *Anyway*, I really enjoyed Kris and his band! It was a short set, but the band was really tight and totally into what they were doing, and that always makes live music so much fun. Kris sings really, really well live — with loads of heart and with lots of different colors in his voice.

And I got to hear Paranoid Android live, which was my main KA-related goal for the evening. It was terrific — I *love* his version of the song.

Everyone around us seemed to enjoy the music too — there was a wave of quiet laughter (as one laughs at something unexpected and clever) when Gangsta’s Paradise broke out in the middle of Heartless. The crowd by me seemed to really appreciate that — but then, a BNL crowd is used to musicians who are clever, so smart move on KA’s part. : )

In conclusion, a fun night!

I think if I walked up to Kris and David Cook at the same time I’d be speechless, or blubbering or simply faint! Just the idea of DC being there to support Kris (and if it were visa versa) makes me so darned EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Sorry folks. Now if I got to see them both play in the same venue (which I’m sure will never happen) well then, I think I’d be ruined for concerts from there on out.

BTW, whatever happened with the hit predictor thing on CSA? Does anyone know?

Hi hi hi! Got back from the concert a little while ago. Lots of fun hanging out with a bunch of fellow Kris fans, I met up with Ratna12 for a little while, but I lost track of her when we were waiting around after Kris’s set to see if he was coming out to sign (which he did, but much later on). So Ratna12, hope you don’t think I ditched you — I don’t know where you went!

Anyway, brief recap of my day/night

I left my house in Hermosa Beach around 4:15. I followed the directions on The Greek’s website, which don’t bother to tell you that the Vermont Ave. exit off the 10 Fwy is NOWHERE near Griffith Park. Took me about 1 1/2 hours in early rush hour traffic to gt there, so not horrible. After paking, I met up with the fellow Kris fans that I’ve hung with at preious shows, and a couple of others I hadn’t met before.

Show started at 7 p.m., which seems early, especially knowing how late arriving L.A. crowds tend to be. There wee NOT a lot of people in the venue (which is absolutely gorgeous BTW) by the time Angel Taylor started — maybe 100 people or so? But she had her own personal rooting section (she’s from L.A.) which was cool. I really enjoyed her set – she’s mad talented and so cute! Got her CD at the merchandise table after her set (only $7). She was signing stuff, but I didn’t get in line for that.

Back inside for Kris’s set. There were a lot more people there by the time his set state, although more kept coming in throughing his set. I’ say the place was probably 75% filled for his set? maybe? One section up top and on the side was totally empty, but those seats didn’t fill up for BNL either, so they might not have even be available for sale.

The venue was trying to be strict on taking video, but I know that some people were able to sneak and get some. Opened set with CSA — Kris in black jeans, and a tight white t-shirt with a black vest over it (very nice!), Andrew in gray t-shirt, Cale in gray shirt & tie, Ryland in cardigan over a t-shirt and Torres in a black tee. They ripped through the set without much banter. One exception when was for the intro to Paranoid Androis (yay!!!!) — Kris said that they flipped a coin about whether to do the song or not, and that the coin toss actually was in favor of NOT doing the song, but they decided to do it anyway. Rumor is that Lizzie wanted them to do it. When he sai the bit about what the coin toss turned up, we all yelled out “NO!!!” really loudly. They killed PA and Andrew in particular was fun to watch throughout, with his bobblehead style action. Kris was in great voice and was his usual bouncy self. He did some ver interesting dancing at one point — but now I can’t remember what song it was on! No MITM tonight — that was the song they took out in order to do PA.

People weren’t standing up during his set, but he got a really good response from the crowd, including a partial standing ovation at the end. After his set, we headed out to the area by the merchandise table. Lots of people were buying his CD, t-shirts, photos, etc. Spotted Ryland and Andrew and chatted briefly with them. BIG NEWS: because they are doing 2 shows on Saturday, they said that they are pretty much going to half to play every song they know that night. \o/!!! We put in some requests (LOL) just to make sure.

Kris hadn’t come out to sign by the time BNL’s set started, so we went back to our seats. BNL is a fun band to watch live. Lots of joking around and social commentary. The lead singer pointed out one tree and predicted it as going to fall over, joking that their show had been sold out but because of the possible danger posed by the tree, those seats weren’t being used (in truth, by the time BNL came on stage, the place was pretty packed — it was dark so I couldn’t say for sure, but I’d guess close to 90% capacity anyway).

Part 2 of (NOT SO BRIEF AFTER ALL) Recap:

Anyway, about 3-4 songs into BNL’s set, we got a text that Kris was outside signing, so we scooted back over to the courtyard area and found him, Katy and Cale (I heard David Cook was there, but I neve saw him). We started talking to Katy about the SD shows (which she’s going to) — again, she is such a sweet person, so friendly. Kris was taking some pictures with other fans but then started to alk by us, joking that we didn’t care about him since we were talking to his wife (LOL). After taking some more photos with other fans, though, he came over to us — he recognized us, of course. He confirmed what Ryland and Andrew said about them playing pretty much everything they knows on Saturday (yayyayay — maybe I’ll get to hear that Electric Feel cover after all!) and was actually happy — not freaked — by the fact that most of us are going to be at both shows Saturday!

Funny story. Kris was holding onto his rolling suitcase, but he kept letting go of it to take photos with fans and it kept rolling away from him. I kept waiting to see it just start rolling down the hill, with Kris chasing after it — but that never uite happened. Oh well!

Talked briefly to Cale, who again confirmed the SD show stuff. We told him to make sure Miranda Cosgrove doesn’t freak out when she meets Kris! He didn’t know who that was — until we mentioned iCarly. Then he totally knew who she was.

So they left to get food. We were going to go back inside to watch the rest of the BNL concert but got sidetracked by a table set up for people to do a little coloring! This guy said his goal is to get all these pictures (he evidently has gathered thousands) and eventually have them be a gallery exhibit. I guess he’s going to put them up on facebook as well. Can’t say I’ve ever been all that artistic, but that was fun. We could hear the BNL concert through the speakers, too. (“If I had a million doll-olololololol-ers…”).

Post-concert hand at House of Pies rounded out the fun. Made it home in under an hour despite going the surface street route rather than on the freeways.

Work tomorrow, then off to SD for what should be two epic shows!!!

Part I

Aaaghhh, what a great night. Ooopps, I gave away the ending already.

I didn’t plan to come to this concert before because I have a fear in driving to Los Angeles by myself.
Afraid to get lost and got to unsafe place and who knows what can happen. So I got my brother and sister in law drove me
while they were walking around the Griffith Observatory. They dropped me off and by 9:30pm they wanted to pick me up.

I got there at 6:50 pm and just in time for Angel Taylor. She was good, very pretty but her set was short. I think it was about 4 or 5 songs only. While listening to her I tried my cell phone tried to call majal1, no network, so couldn’t meet up with her
I took out my I-pad 3G, nothing. I’ll bring it to San Diego and we’ll see if there is reception in downtown area instead of on the Hollywood Hills among all the trees.
I went to my seat, sat by myself, alone and no fun, so I look around for girlygirl since all the actions seem to revolve around her. Found her .

At the end of Angel’s set I went up to her and stucked by her. There were about 6 other KA fans in the group, and I think most of them will go to San Diego too. So, I changed seat and was hoping that the BNL fan who has the seat won’t come before Kris set ended.

Kris was great, of course. Great clothing. White T-shirt with a black vest, reminds me of the finale Ain’t No Sunshine, which I love. CSA, Heartless and The Truth which I especially love. I love ballads. His voice was incredible throughout, not a bad strained notes as far as I’m concerned. And then, he said about the coin tossed before PA. I think it was a great choice for this crowd, and he was awesome singing it. I personally like “Maybe” better, but wrong crowds and again, I love ballads.
Hopefully if he’ll sing an extra cover, he’ll sing “Maybe” in San Diego. Sing along AWM, great IIO, sing along LLWD and a great ending in CT. There was a guy in the front that gave Andrew a standing ovation after his great guitar playing in IIO.
The crowds was about maybe half to 3/4 full when KAB started and kept trickling in to almost full by the time KAB finished. And yes, they got a lot of people to stand up and clap by the end of the set. Yes !!

Part II

After Kris set ended around 8:25 pm, we went immediately outside where they were selling merchandise. The booth has all the 3 acts merchs together. T-shirts, photos / posters, cds, keychains for Kris. They have both the black guitar T-shirt and the red elephant one. The T-shirts cost $30. Isn’t that $5 cheaper than online price ?
So we waited outside this 1 door where all the bands came out from. I guess there was a meet and greet inside (?).
There was a mom with 2 or 3 girls holding about 3 big photo (13.5 x 11 inches) of Kris with signatures on them already. So, I asked where did she get them signed and she said she bought them like that. I asked her if they were real sigs or not. So we compared all 3 photos and they were all different, so I bought 1 just in case ($15).
We saw Ryland and Andrew came out, and some people got pictures and signatures. I was stucked to my spot along the rope, afraid that Kris would come out then. No experience in stalk..I mean waiting for Kris to come out. First time. I was standing beside a little girl whose mom won 2 tickets and her birthday is 2 days away. She loves Heartless the best and did not know that Kris sings it in his concerts. Recent followers (?). I think it is good that people can win tickets for concerts, since some people who didn’t plan to come, can go see it and maybe buy merchs too and become more of a fan.

By 8:50pm, BNL started and they turn off the lights, so it was dark. We asked the guards and he said that Kris is still inside but he didn’t have to come out through that door. Anyway we waited until about 9:35pm before Kris came out. I ignored the fact that my brother probably was outside the gate on the street driving around. Couldn’t call him since no cell phone reception for me and forgot about texting.

I was the first in line closest to the door and I waved my own Kris photo (the album cover) in front of his face and got my metallic pen since the picture is dark. He signed it and I said that I’ll see him in San Diego and Reno. He said :”Oh yeah, great”. And I asked “Can I have a hug ?”. He said “Oh, sure” Aaaghh. And I said “Thank you, Kris”. ha-ha.

By the time Kris came out, the little girl disappeared already, but I found her later on with a signed poster already.
Kris moved on to next fans (the ones in girlygirl’s group) and took photos. So I asked her to take my photo with Kris. I never look good on camera, but who cares, I got a chance to be close to Kris again. Hopefully she’ll e-mail me the photo, anyway I’ll see her in San Diego.

I moved back a little so more fans can take pics while still watching him close. He’s pretty with that deep voice.
Then I saw Cale just standing there near the suitcases. So, I waved the same photo and asked his sigs. He came over, signed it and told him that I saw him and Kris at Las Vegas and can’t wait to see them in SD and Reno. He said, ” Oh wow, great”, and of course knowing what a great fan I was, he didn’t refuse me when I asked for a hug . Several of us asked him where ET was and I think he said he was in the bus. Poor ET missed all the fun.

I went around and saw girlygirl and a group of people in a circle just chatting with a stunning blonde, yep, it’s Katy.
She’s tiny and did I mention, stunning ?. Anyway, I saw Andrew nearby with the suitcase and I asked his sigs.
I told him how great his guitar playing was and especially at the end of Red Guitar while he was doing acoustic shows with Kris several months ago. Then, I saw the mom of the little girl who won tickets, and she asked who the blonde lady was.
I said, Kris’ wife. “Oh, really, I didn’t know that”. Yep, not a close followers of Kris, but hopefully they will continue to follow him. Kris and Katy were standing side by side at one time , and too much pretty. A little bit later on, I saw Katy kind of alone, and I said how awesome she is and how lucky she is to have Kris and Kris to have her. “Oh thank you”, and I got another hug.

Then Kris and Katy were leaving and waved to everybody “See you in San Diego.” ha-ha.
They left the band, since they won’t fly to Nashville (I think).
I saw only Katy and Kris went to the bus.

And then, I texted my brother that I was ready to be picked up.
What a great night. I can’t wait for San Diego.

Forgot to add that when I saw the little girl with the signed poster already still lingering, she said that Kris signed it but now she wanted him to personalize it. So, believing that not ALL envy is bad, I took my metallic pen and photo again and went up to Kris, tab his shoulder and asked to sign with my (real) name. Hopefully Kris will have the full band in Nashville . I saw on twitter where the iCarly girl said she was rehearsing with her band. It may be that Kris will go acoustic in Nashville due to the logistics to move all the equipment to Nashville and back for tomorrow’s shows in SD.

Thanks for all the recaps everyone.Love the three video’s so far.Really enjoyed PA I think that’s my favorite so far of that song.And I love how emotionally he gets when he sings the truth.He really gets so into his singing and makes me really get into it also.I feel like am right there watching him sing those live.

Thanks to everyone who posted tweets and huge thanks to those who were able to go to the Greek and their reports back. I wanted to be there but had a prior commitment. I was severely angry when 3/4ths of the people who were to be at my ‘thing’ did not show up.

I both love and hate seeing concerts in LA, especially on week nights. Even a 3 mile drive can take an hour and a half in rush hour(s). It’s no surprise that the venue was fairly empty for Angel Taylor and people were still trickling in while Kris was on. Both acts are fabulous and it’s a shame that concert goers missed out.

As far as ‘Alright With Me’ or ‘Can’t Stay Away’ being next single, I’m fine with both. I really like the funk on CSA and it was one I loved immediately. I think both would do well in the fall. I could hear ‘AWM’ being blasted at tailgate parties or even incorporated at games similar to ‘Tusk’ or ‘We Will Rock You’.

They’re my two favorite Idols (Kris & David), and I wish they’d collaborate someday. David’s brother sounds like a great guy also!

I’m so glad Kris finally added Panaroid Android to his Opening Act Set list. I always felt it would go over really well with the BNL crowd. Kris and his band’s version is incrediable. I think it’s better than the original or the cover done by Sia (which is piano and strings driven6.) Kris’ version is dark, haunting and oh so sexy. Also, it sounds very fresh and contemporary. Love it!

BIG NEWS: because they are doing 2 shows on Saturday, they said that they are pretty much going to half to play every song they know that night.

He’s doing two shows, but it’s not going to be the same crowd at both. I’m sure there will be a few who buy tickets for both sets, but he doesn’t HAVE to change up his set. It’s cool for those staying for both, though.

From what I heard (and it could be wrong) The mod was warning people who were about to get banned, by changing their avi to an avi of Kris.

BTW, every time you guys mention the “SD show” I think you’re talking about South Dakota.

Timing is everything. I wonder if the song would do as well when the weather begins to get colder. AWM is the perfect summer song, and it’s the song that most people seem to talk about after Kris performs.

Most of us first heard/loved the song when the album released in late September. I heard Kris do it in concert in December and the audience loved it. Then Ford used it in its commercials in the spring. Guess no one got the memo that it was a ‘summer song’.

Could this be a clue that TT video shoot will be happening Monday???? He likes giving out cryptic clues.

Thanks for the “concern” guys, but (1) I would guess that it is new fans buying the CDs at the merch tables (I personally heard several BNL fans last night say they had never heard of Kris before, then went & bought his CD) and (2) I heard (but cannot confirm) that Kris’s management isn’t even reporting the CD sales from the merch tables to SoundScan, so they wouldn’t count in his official sales totals anyway. I understand there is a ton of red tape involved in reporting he sales you get at the venues to SoundScan, so that makes sense. But from what I observed, both he and Angel Taylor were definitely selling a bunch of CDs at the venue last night, which was good to see (not sure about BNL)

oh and I forgot one tiny detail from my recap last night — Cale totally LOVES iCarly! He got this goofy grin on his face when he was told who Miranda Cosgrove was. Evidently he’s a big Disney Channel geek — LOL

As always, everyone we talked to last night — Ryland, Andrew, Cale, Kris and Katy, were super sweet and friendly and down to earth. And totally not freaked out by getting to see us again tomorrow in San Diego (not South Dakota )

It is so great to hear that Kris is getting new fans with each performance . He is so talented and he is working hard and I believe this will pay of and he will have a long and successful career.

The majority of new fans are going to come from people who hear Kris’ music on the radio, but it is definitely not “making feasts from crumbs” to be happy that in just a forty minute set, that Kris is able to connect with people enough that they would want to immediately buy a copy of his cd. That is a gift that not everyone has, and it speaks volumes for Kris’ talent and ability, as well as for his future prospects.

WTF!! 19/Jive I guess Kris will forever be on the AI Live Tour. Can’t believe they would not send out updated bio information to events he is performing. According to this one, Kris doesn’t even have an album out. I know others have mentioned the same issue with other event sites.

I really had a great time and still couldn’t believed that KAB just lingered on to sign, pose for pics and talk to us fans. They were really approachable, but I still thought while watching all the scenes “it’s KRIS ALLEN !”
For those who will have the opportunity to see him, don’t hesitate to ask (nicely) for autograph / and pics / hug.
If he says, no, then OK, but don’t regret it. Who knows when you can see him again.
It really helps to have other Kris fans there, there is no way I can approach Kris alone.

I’m looking forward for Saturday’s concert. Just saw the news on Comic-Con.
I have to see the map where it is exactly, I’m afraid about the parking.

I’m glad there were lots of CD’s & merch being sold afterwards. When I was at the CBS Radio Expo in NYC, there were no CD’s, and Kris was definitely the headliner & lots of people enjoyed his music. I wish they did whatever it took to register the sales, though. With all of shows he’s doing, I’m sure the CD sales are adding up to a good amount.

Thanks for thinking of me Linsmile. I remember this interview well & it breaks my heart that there is still no sign of Kris’s singles & album being released here . As he is keen to come here I know that there is still hope – we are a patient lot down here as we’re used to waiting .[ It really is laughable that No Boundaries is still on our I-tunes yet no LLWD or his Album] I just hope Kris can some day fulfil his dreams of coming here. At this rate though it may be more likely through his work with charity & mission than through his music!!
