Kree Harrison and Kellie Pickler Vow to Get Matching Tattoos If They Win

As many of you know, American Idol finalist, Kree Harrison, has been kicking around Nashville for a few years now. She’s friends with up and coming country singer, Kacey Musgraves–singing background vocals on her highly acclaimed album Same Trailer Different Park.

She was also friends with the late Mindy McCreedy, who called Kree up on the stage to sing a duet during a 2011 CMA event at Rippy’s in downtown Nashville.

Another one of Kree’s Nashville pals is American Idol alum, Kellie Pickler, who is currently competing on the latest season of Dancing with the Stars. “She’s one of my good friends,” said Kree, who met Kellie a couple of years ago through a mutual friend in their adopted hometown of Nashville. “She’s a doll. I adore her. She’s literally the sweetest woman. She’s inspiring in so many ways.”

Kellie and Kree have something significant in common. They both have a REALLY good shot at winning their respective competitions. And if they do? “We’ve decided that if we win,” said Kree, “which I know she’s going to win Dancing With the Stars, we’re going to go get matching tattoos!”

Conveniently, the DWTS and Idol studios are situated right next each other–the better for Kellie and Kree to plan meetups via text messages. “She’s come and met everyone [at Idol]” said Kree. “She loves Janelle [Arthur]. They remind me a lot of each other. They’re both really witty.”

If and when that ink comes to pass, there better be photos!

    That would be cool.

Also, with Kree having so many friends in Nashville already, I don’t think she will face the reality show prejudice that a lot of singing show contestants face. Carrie, Scotty, and Lauren didn’t exactly have the welcome mat laid out for them in Nashville at first.

  • JosieX

That is so nice that they each have someone to talk to about the pressures of being on those shows who they know REALLY understands. They are great girls, I like them a lot.

  • onebirdlover1

The radio sure didn’t jump on their bandwagon……( Carrie, Scotty and Lauren ) I agree!

  • L. R. M. L.

Not sure about the others but radio sure didn’t jump on Scotty’s bandwagon. #
understatement. Hoping that will change this Summer with new single/album coming.

Janelle does remind me a lot of Kellie. 2 little spunky spit of fire.

  • vdawg

This is great that they can support each other. I hope they have to get their tattoos by the end of May!

  • Incipit

Aww, that’s a sweet idea, matching victory tats for the friends, hope they get to do it. I’m lovin’ Kellie on DWTS, thinking she has a good chance to win – and if Kree displays a little more energy in performance, she has a chance on Idol too – IMO. I can’t fault her singing.

  • Li Wright

Kree has the goods. She and Melinda Doolittle have similar stories. And they both are great singers. While Melinda never got a record contract, she’s a working singer. Kree could very well do the same, just take singing gigs around the country and possibly be a TV host.

  • LeahKittyS

Melinda did get a record contract. Her album is called “Coming Back to You.” I have it. (And I also think the tattoos are a really cute idea.)

  • Axxxel

Tattoo’s …. edgy… I hope Kree can show some edginess in her performances as well…

  • Jason Scott

Well, considering Carrie’s debut single “Jesus Take the Wheel” spent 6 weeks at #1, I think she was accepted pretty quickly.

  • supersonic

I can see Kree winning. But Pickler? I don’t know. She has to go through Zendaya, Jacoby, and believe it or not, Andy Dick. Plus, there are the Derek haters out there who don’t want him to win for a 4th time. I’m not even sure the show wants him to win for a 4th time. So, Pickler’s got more of a battle. It won’t be easy.

Country radio did jump on Scotty’s bandwagon. It took 2 crap songs which wouldn’t have made t40 from an unknown newbie act and made them both t20 hits because of Scotty’s popularity and personal appeal. But because those 2 songs did nothing to convince country radio that Scotty was capable of producing good hit music, country radio didn’t get on board when he released a 3rd single that was mediocre.

The blame for Scotty not having a t10 hit yet lies with his label for sending out the 3 worst songs on his debut album as singles. With a new regime running his label now, they’ll hopefully make better choices (tbh, it’d be hard to make worse choices) but those 1st 2 singles especially made Scotty’s road that much harder. With the right single choices, I think Scotty could’ve at least had as much country radio success as Bucky Covington on his debut album, and maybe even Josh Gracin.

Kree has the most during-season Nashville buzz as I’ve seen for an AI contestant since Carrie during s4. That’s obviously being helped by Kree having loads of connections in Nashville but she’s got the vocal talent and distinctiveness to back it up. I’m not seeing a lot of talk about Janelle and I agree with those who see her as more of Kellie – she’s a fighter and her success will really depend on songs.

I love that Kree & Kellie are friends and it’s a smart move to get their fanbases in alliance for both shows. I’d love to see them both win their shows this year.

  • Happyhexer

    Not easy, no, but doable.

  • Happyhexer

Sorry, but I just don’t think “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls” are in the same league with “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Before He Cheats.” I still hear those Carrie songs on the radio regularly, even though they first came out in 2005. Nothing against Scotty. That’s just my perception of the song quality. ILYTB and TTWG are just not #1 songs, no matter who sings them. But if Scotty writes better songs, or otherwise gets his hands on some first-class songs, then watch out!

  • Happyhexer

I’d like to see more of Kree’s personality, edgy or not. It’s great that she’s calm and professional on stage, but sometimes she looks bored when she’s singing. If she lets loose more, she will be more of a force to be reckoned with than she already is.

  • Kariann Hart

I hope Kellie can give Kree some advice on her stage persona. I think Kree has the goods to win. She just has to let us into her world.

  • Marimar Rios

Maybe I’m missing something here but I really don’t see why Kree would need to win or even compete in American Idol in order to have a career. I keep reading everywhere about all the connections she has in Nashville.

I’ve read that she was actually signed at some point but they wanted her to go pop and this coupled with a personal tragedy that she faced led to the contract falling apart. Later on apparently she was signed to a publishing deal and this also fell apart due to another personal tragedy.

I still don’t get though why she hasn’t been offered a record deal by a major label in Nashville yet. I mean, she’s obviously ridiculously good and seems to know the right people.

The fact that someone with so many connections in Nashville has to compete in Idol to have a shot at a career in country really baffles me.

I have felt bad for janelle that the country blogs are all Kree Kree kree and an occasional janelle. being an insider with the cool new hip Kacey Musgrave and the newly mega popular LBT to name a few sure is helping for print time. I am not quite sure why but Kree doesn’t floor me I am not hearing this amazing voice hat everyone is talking about it is technically good but there are no nuisances in it that make it exciting for me. Not exactly team janelle either although when she hits it right I like her voice better then Kree’s so I guess I agree song choice for her is important. I am guessing that Angie has a huge fanbase that will carry her for the win unless or even if she totally falls apart. Not sure who I think should win out of the top five girls and I like Burnell too.
    They are all very talented.

  • marcoUpstate

If the deal is that they will both get tattoos only if they both win their respective reality shows, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that they won’t be getting these matching tattoos.

  • McLaina Forever

I love Kree’s voice, but her personality is sooooo laid back that I feel like we should be checking her for a pulse half the time. Unfortunately, her chill persona translates into an equally chill and rather boring performance style. If she could bring more life and spark to the stage she’d definitely be a force to be reckoned with in the music industry (regardless of whether she wins the show or not).

  • CharlyBaltimore

Looks like we’re one day closer to those matching tattoos! LOL
