Baahaha. I like her, her personality, and only some parts of her voice, based on what I hear here. VERY low and gruff indeed. It sounds WAY lower than DC’s LOL. Anyway, wish her luck!

LOL. Good observation. Her voice was always low and gruff, but I haven’t listened to this video yet (having software issues). Maybe they accentuated the gruffness more.

She was always slightly tone-deaf on Idol, and really no better than kareoke, but her looks and ambition got her as far as she got. She has a very limited range. Her determination to make it as a singer is misguided, imo. She’s just not good enough as a singer. More of a tv personality/host/mc. I never cared for her personality much either, but today I admire her determination (when she’s not trying to be a singer that is).

She doesn’t sound like David Cook. The song structure is like some of the songs he does. Tender verse with big loud, possibly yelling, chorus.

That description applies to a lot of rock goups, especially the pop-rock female artists. Even Adam’s WWFM fits that description. There are a few similarities with Cook’s CBTM but that song wasn’t written by Cook.

I also don’t get the comparisons to Cook.

It is Cook-ish. I actually don’t get the point of the song. “I’ll make a mess of you . . . the Hell I put you through . . . Trust me.” She will make a mess of him because of the Hell she put him through in the past??? Also, unless she’s singing quietly it’s very hard to understand the lyrics, which makes it hard to get hooked on the song.

I think she has an interesting voice. It is decent, but not outstanding. But with the right song(s) it doesn’t have to be outstanding. For her to have a hit, she needs a song that everyone on earth wants to sing along to in the car. And this ain’t that.

My thoughts exactly! It’s very post-grunge pop-rock. I couldn’t get into the song but it’s the right style for Kim. I liked the other 2 songs that she previewed in that showcase better.

I don’t expect this will do anything on the radio. But their best chance at getting attention to Kim’s album is using the internet and riding off any AI publicity they can on TV and maybe radio if Kim can use the AI hook to get interviews.

I don’t think it’s likely that I’ll be buying her album but I do give respect to AIers who work hard, grow, and find themselves artistically. Kimberly seems like she might’ve done that so good for her.

Kim’s voice is fine. The song is okay. I am just wondering about how she will be promoted. Allison, straight off idol releases a pretty good cd, and what happens? So far not much, so what will happen with Kim, several years past her idol days? I might buy it, but then I’ve always liked her….

I agree jinxx315. Her range is nothing like Pink’s or Cook’s. It’s just not appealing to me. Singers like Melissa Etheridge, Bonnie Raitt, Pink’ ¦they all have that nice texture but with RANGE. KC just does not have that’ ¦or she is holding out on us perhaps? I don’t know.

I assumed it was the song holding her back. But you all would know more than me about that.S8 was the first year I watched idol and it seemed that most the peeps that got any distance on the show had either a halfway decent range or some other vocal uniqueness. There are exceptions of course, but I figured I’d give her the benefit of the doubt that the problem was the material not being adventurous rather than her not being able to sing anything more interesting.
