Kelly Clarkson’s New Side Project…Already Famous!

Kelly Clarkson and her backup singers Jill and Kate are up to something! Something…awesome.

Kelly tweeted this intriguing message to her fans on Friday: “I’m off to Oklahoma to record some songs with @jillandkate! I love random writing and recording with friends!”

What are the kids up to exactly? Kelly, Jill and Kate are recording music under the moniker Already Famous, and you can follow the band on twitter @alreadyfamous3.

On why they decided to record: We’ve been writing & singing together 4 over 4 years so we thought why not record it. We love singing harmony!

Who will sing lead? We switch on different songs. We all sing lead, alto, and soprano at different points.

On the band name: We couldn’t decide so we went to Sephora and picked the funniest nail polish name. No deeper meaning

    Aww, that’s cute. Band Fight. Heh. Is this how Kelley gets to make the kind of music she prefers? Oklahoma is a good choice for a place to record, IMO – KC and Tulsa – there’s something in the water up there. *wink*

    Good luck to her, because I’ve always liked her voice, but not her music. This will be something new to check out.

    This is quite the surprise! Ever since Kelly joined Jill and Kate on their Songs on the 17th singing The Climb a couple years ago, I’d hoped they’d go do some sort of side project together.

    There’s not much official info about it yet, but if it keeps the creative juices flowing and is something they enjoy, I say go for it.

    I am so frigging excited about this project (per my spazzy little flail over in the Headlines thread). I adore Kelly’s voice and her exquisite harmonies with Jill and Kate. Although I didn’t love her last album, My December is right up there in my list of all-time favorite albums. That snippet sounds VERY promising, not least because it reminds me a bit of Circadian/REM with the dreamlike atmosphere and complex instrumentation. And OK is a very auspicious place to make music. :)

    Count me in as another who loves Kelly’s voice but has been less than enthused about the direction her recordings have taken. I love the snippet and can’t wait to hear what kind of magic they have brewing in that studio.

    How disappointing that last night’s VH1 unplugged performance featured Kelly with her mic on 8 and Jill and Kate’s mics on, um, ZERO! Who engineers this stuff and was he ill that night? They and a male singer were harmonizing their hearts out but apparently weren’t important enough to make the final cut!
