Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale – VIDEO Performances

Who watched Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale. I did and I’ve got the videos to prove it! A slew of divine musical performances by Kelly were woven together with a cute story of a selfish diva who eventually learns a lesson.

Kelly is comic as a self-involved diva who is determined to find the biggest stars to guest on her Christmas special. Things don’t go as planned, and in the end she finds out there’s more to life than fame or fortune. Yeah, it was pretty cliched. But Kelly was adorable as the diva, and the show was peppered with fun cameos from Blake Shelton, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, William Shatner, Danica Patrick, and Heidi Klum. The comic vignettes were tied together by a little girl reading Kelly’s story aloud from a book, reminiscent of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

And of course, the sanging was REAL good. Check out this performance of Silent Night with Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood. Click to watch. And here’s more! The musical performances were filmed in Las Vegas in late October.

Here’s the opening skit with Ken Jeong playing Kelly’s manager, and Jai Rodriguez as her beleaguered assistant:

I loved this so much. The music, the cautionary tale, Kelly’s everything. I want to marry the Kelly, Reba, Trisha Silent Night – perfection. Why would they run this gem at 10 pm after the Sing-off? My new pony is a Buble/Kelly speci. They are both so hilarious.

sigh i had no idea this was even on tonight.. NOw i am sad i missed it.

I’m annoyed too because I was out and thought that I had set my DVR to record it, and I hadn’t! You can’t watch it on the NBC website either! &%$#@ It’s OK though because according to my TV listings they are broadcasting it again on Dec. 25 at 8:00 PM. :)

That performance of Silent Night is one for the ages. Amazing.

Could Kelly be any cuter or personable ?? And her singing was top shelf.
I mean, who gets a TV special to promote a record?? Kelly Clarkson, that’s who !!!! Super star !!

This was the fastest hour of my life. Felt like 20 minutes! Singing was perfection! I was hesitant on liking Wrapped in Red, but now, I decided I realllly love it!
Her dresses were actually quite lovely. Another pleasant surrrprise! Natalie Cole-ANOTHER! Man, wish they’d do a duet!!!!!!!!
Some of it was a little corny – but I don’t care – I love Kelly!

This was a really cute show, glad I watched it. Go Kelly!

NBC is getting on my very last nerve. They keep broadcasting stuff to keep me watching. This was no exception.

This was obviously a cheesy take on A Christmas Carol and I loved it. The singing was fantastic. Even the skits were fun. I think what made it work is that I get the impression (and obviously I don’t know) that Kelly is far far from a diva. I loved the joke about Blake being overexposed, because I’ve been saying that for awhile. But he was pretty charming in this. Also, kudos to the little girl doing the narration. :-)

    Well done, Kelly!

Anyone know if this will be on or Hulu? iTunes?

I loved it! Kelly’s singing and acting were amazing. I loved every cheesy second of it. A perfect Christmas special.

This was fun! The writing was eh but Kelly was good, and actually, she was great in her scene with Trisha and Reba. The natural chemistry there was obvious, and it’s there with Blake too. Loved all the songs but ‘Silent Night’ especially was just wow.

I plan to look for it (since I fell asleep during it last night. lol)

Rolling Stone: ‘Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale': What Went Wrong?
Her new special was heavy on the holiday tunes, but light on the humor

The comedy bits were not the best part of the special, but it wasn’t the travesty the writer describes. They gush over Blake’s Christmas special last year, which I didn’t watch, But I suspect the crass bro humor wasn’t funny either.

I will agree that the homeless scene was kind of weird. Especially when one of the kids whipped out a smart phone to video Kelly singing. Really? Homeless kids can afford smart phones? lol.

  • gem2477

    It was a cute show.

  • gem2477

yeah, it was loads better than Blake’s special last year.

  • pj

No doubt homeless kids have unlimited data plans.

I didn’t watch Blake’s special either. Anyone know if it’s online?

I remember a month and a half ago there was a lot of consternation about her wardrobe (inspired by the attacked picture), but looking at the videos, I thought she looked fantastic!

    ETA: hmm, seems I can’t attach the picture…but maybe you’ll remember anyway…

I had thought there would be several duets, not just Silent Night with Trisha and Reba but I was not disappointed at all. I totally enjoyed the story and just Kelly for the hour.
