Last night, Kelly Clarkson celebrated the 4th of July with the troops, performing a concert at Freedom Fest at Fort Hood, TX. Due to a fall last weekend at Summerfest, Kelly was wearing a boot, but that didn’t keep her from entertaining the audience, even if it meant sitting for part of the concert, or hobbling around the stage.

Watch Kelly thank the troops in attendance before singing “God Bless America” in their honor. At the end of the concert, she was presented with a thank you gift!  She also enlisted a service man to sing “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with her.

Thanks for posting these videos, MJ! The service man, John, seemed thrilled to sing with Kelly. So sweet that they gave Kelly a gift for her appearance.

Wow!  That picture.  Look at the size of that crowd.  Just amazing!  I watched the vids last night (thanks btw mj!) and it’s hard not to tear up hearing Kelly’s rendition plus seeing the smile on John’s face while they were performing DYWS.  That is something that this solder won’t ever forget.  I’m glad she gave him that opportunity

The female seargeant, Kimberly Munley, who was nearly killed that day in Ft. Hood trying to save her fellow comrades, is from this area.  When she was finally released from the hospital and was able to come back home, she was given the heroes welcome that she truly deserved.  It’s been so touching to see the support that these famiies have received since those horrible shootings took place.  I realize Kelly is from Texas, but it just seemed like she went out of her way to do something special to honor these victims and their families and I’m sure they won’t forget it anytime soon.
