windmills, not to nitpick, but it’s Aben not Aden. :) (sorry, I hate myself for doing that)

I guess the 5th original would either be “Just For Now” or “Every Christmas.” There are songs out there already by those titles, JFN by Imogen Heap and EC by Luther Vandross. I’m leaning towards JFN being the other original.

I’m looking forward to a majority of those, especially “Silent Night.” Not sure I’ll be able to stomach track 9. lol

I’m looking forward to this album from Kelly. It sounds like a mix of different styles, and the a cappella “Silent Night” sounds lovely.

Ugh, I always do that (mess up Aben’s name). Fixed now, thanks.

I think Just For Now is the 5th original but that’s just a guess. There’s a song by that title cowritten by Danelle Leverett (former Jane Dear Girl, cowrote The Sun Will Rise) and Ann Marie Boskovich (who sang on TSWR demo) with Bekka Bramlett, which is my early guess for the song.

These tracks include 4 of my least favorite Christmas songs…but I have a hunch that if anyone can make me like them, it’s Kelly. Can’t wait to hear it!

50/50 chance and we were both wrong. ha. Every Christmas is the 5th written by Kelly and Aben. Ashley just answered someone on twitter about it. (link)

I wish there were more carols and less songs with the word Christmas in the title! Lol. I’m glad to see all the originals though… Too bad she didn’t include O Holy Night… That’s my fav Christmas song… But then there’d be too many sons with Night in the title! Haha! At any rate, I was hoping for a few more carols/religious songs on this one (Joy to the World, Mary Did You Know, All is Well, O Come All Ye Faithful) but I’m excite to see a lot of original choices. I eat the deluxe edition will have I’ll Be Home For Christmas, Grown Up Christmas List and the song she did with Blake Shelton (it should at any rate!)

Thanks! I hadn’t heard the Imogen Heap song before, but I like it a lot. Seems like they favored secular Christmas songs and focused on the spirit of the season more than the religious aspect (other than Silent Night, obviously, which sort of ends the album as a prayer). Based on the tracklisting and even without hearing the originals I’m imagining an album that’s actually very cohesive with its sound. Can’t wait to hear it!

It’s funny for years that Kelly ran away from anything sugary lovey dovey now she is all about it :) LOL

  • heartly

I (not so) secretly love it. It is funny though and she makes fun of herself about it during her concert banter, usually while intro’ing TIU.

This is sure to be the best Christmas album of the year!

Have you heard her version of “O Holy Night” on American Idol’s “The Great Holiday Classics”? It features the best singers from Seasons 1 & 2. It’s on the bonus disc with “My Grown Up Christmas List.” So crisp and pure!

There are a few songs I don’t know or aren’t favorites of mine. The Carpenters’, “Christmas Portrait” remains my favorite Christmas album. Karen Carpenters’ voice is so angelic!

I didn’t realize she had already done a version O Holy Night! I hope they include that on the Expanded Edition too! (Although I bet none will be included lol)
