Kelly Clarkson recently talked to the Insider about her newly released and FREE anthem recorded specifically for her hometown football team, The Dallas Cowboys, but she also touched on the viral success of her nightly tour cover songs and the joy she derives from helping young artists.

Kelly talks about the possibility of a covers album and it looks like she’ll be releasing more songs from the Smokestack Sessions she recorded last year? YES, please, Kelly to the covers album!

Insider.com: Any plans to release a proper covers album?
Kelly: People really want that thing [laughs]. I don’t think I’m not open to releasing one, I just haven’t really thought about it. I love music so much and love covering all the different genres that I’m just having fun with how we’re doing it right now. I don’t know what will happen next. We did do the Smokestack Sessions that came out with Stronger – we’re releasing another 6 songs as well and we did a lot of the covers people request on tour, so there’s that, and we’ll probably do it again.

Also, Kelly has not abandoned her young charges from the ABC reality show, Duets, that she wrapped up last month. She’s taking Jordan Meredeth on the road and is hooking up Jason Farol with some songwriters! But, she’s not so sure about doing another reality show. The time she had to take out to film duets kept her from touring the world.

Insider.com: Earlier this year you returned to reality TV as a judge on ABC’s Duets. You were phenomenal in that capacity. Any plans for season two?
Kelly: I don’t know for certain, but I’m pretty sure we were all there to do the one [season]. I didn’t realize how much I loved being a part of that whole process of helping develop other artists. I’m having so much fun with Jordan [Meredith] – she’s coming on the road with me and then we’re going to get her feet wet in the studio. Find out what kind of sound she wants. Same with Jason [Farol]. We’re hooking him up with some writers. I love my own career, but the best part of that show for me was figuring out that I could have just as much fun helping other artists make their dreams come true. I know that sounds cheesy but it’s true.

Personally have no interest in a covers album.  Nice to see she’s taking care of her contestants…seems a little like what Blake did on Voice.  However, interesting that she’s not taking her runnerup contestant on the tour but her also ran…but again shes hooking him up with songwriters but couldnt he do both…Im sure exposure to Kellys fans nightly would be a much bigger boost.  I rather see a new album of originals

The only cover that I would like a clean copy of is “I Know He Won’t”.

I wasn’t sure how to take that “6 more songs” comment but now that you pointed out that it might go along with the Smoakstack Sessions, I’m reading it that way as well and I couldn’t be more excited about it.  When her website had  launched there was a placeholder page for videos from these Sessions and one of them was for Miranda’s “Dead Flowers” but I don’t know if they’d still release that or not since it’s an older new song by now. At the time they recorded the songs, it was new.

There’s quite a few articles that came out today talking about all sorts of things regarding Kelly.  In this THR one, she talks about the Cowboys song obviously (Olige and Josh Abraham produced it), Idol of past and Mariah.

“I wish I could audition with Mariah Carey in the room. That would be pretty awesome,” she sighs. “I think it’s great..I was the first winner and every artist in the world rained on that parade. Everybody was like ‘that’s a crap show’…and now everybody is performing on it and wants to be a part of it. I think it’s awesome for the validity of the show and how hard me and Carrie (Underwood) and Chris (Daughtry) and Jennifer Hudson and a lot of us have been working to bring it validity. It’s kind of a cool thing for me ten years later to have somebody like her,  one of the biggest female artists ever,  embracing that show.”

Then there’s this People one with the obligatory “I’m in love” headline that talks about the song and then the relationship.. they already have a new dog together.

I actually wouldn’t be at all surprised for her to do a covers/greatest hits/b-sides album for her next release.  It seems like she’s much more comfortable with the team at RCA now than in the past, but I still get the impression that anything that lets her release album #6 and be done with her contract would merit some consideration.

At any rate, I love her attitude toward mentorship. Would that every other musician out there shared her enthusiasm for it.

Kelly’s best friend/makeup artist tweeted this a few minutes ago. Great opportunity for Jordan.
Ashley Donovan @ashes2lashes:twitter Excited to have @JordanDuets on the road with us this week! Thanks for being my @Insanity workout buddy today! 1st bus ride tonight!

Her contestants Jordan and Jason are lucky Kelly picked them. It’s up to them to put in the hard work. But it’s nice to see Kelly exposing them to singing in front of big crowds, hooking them up with writers, and studio time. What a gem :)

Indeed.  Kelly would be what some would say, “awesome sauce.”  lol  She really does seem to have taken to those contestants on Duets and I think it’s sweet that she is giving them such a great learning experience as taking some of them out on the road with her.

I would love to see her do a covers album after what we have seen on the tube so far.  I’ve been very impressed.  Kelly is indeed the queen.  She can basically do it all.

I don’t realistically see the show getting a 2nd season with the ratings as they have been since the beginning but I do applaud the way Kelly has taken these kids under her wing.

I am not sure about the covers Cd. Of course I’d buy it. I just don’t ever prefer a covers Cd to new music. Love how awesome Kelly has been to her two ‘kids’. I think Jason being cute and male will have a leg up on Jordan, but I wish success of some sort for both.

Kelly Kelly Kelly {channeling my inner randy, season1,  BD (before dawg)} I totally want a covers collection from you.  But I really want the raw, in the moment, live versions.  Clean but not overworked from the studio.  I want Wide Awake most of all and 2nd the “I know you won’t” from LA in October I think it was.

Your ability to cross over into any and every genre imagineable fits right into my moodiness and multiple musical personalities.

Feel free to contact me any time to discuss further details.  Thanks.
