Yes, And I think Poker Face will win out over Single Ladies easily. Singles Ladies isn’t exciting visually and the song has gotten so much play that is to the point of being annoying even to those that don’t pay attention to music. Three months ago it would have been an easy win. Now, not so much.

Any publicity is good publicity? Especially for the girl who won that talent show… who’s not a household name or selling too many records. It gets her in the news. Why is the “best men’s” video dominated by hiphop/rap? It’s annoying. There were some good rock, alternative, and pop male videos this year. I get tired of seeing the same names dominate these award shows every year. Eminem (gag), Britney, Kanye, etc., year after year, how narrow-minded those shows are. And predictable.

the women’s category is strong though. Pink, Kelly, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, all great videos. SingleGirls is an awesome video, the dancing is enough all by itself, it’s so mesmerizing.

It is beyond me what the appeal of Lady Gaga is. After hearing her “sing” on Idol, it’s obvious she’s not even a very talented singer, but whatevs. I did watch that “Paparazzi” video…because Alexander Skarsgard is in it!

Isn’t the MTV Awards determined by fan votes? If that’s the case then Kelly might have a chance since fans of Idols really know how to vote. If not I have a feeling it’ll be Single Ladies for the most wins. It has to be the most copied video this year (between Saturday Night Live and all those youtube clips) and it is a great song/video.

I agree with this – he should be above arguing with a child.

I don’t know how much awareness people have of Russell Brand, but he’s not an insult comic. He is billed as kind of a shock comic because of his openness about sex and drugs, but at the root of it, Russell is not a mean guy. And if you listened to his light ribbing of the JoBro’s purity rings, you can see that there is no malice there- he’s just teasing them. Jordin was actually the first to begin throwing out insults, and she still is. But I doubt Russell will be too unkind toward her. Hopefully he won’t be. He is a grown ass man after all.

Don’t snub the All-American Rejects! Gives You Hell is probably my favorite hit of the past year (no offense, Kelly). Jordin is this: *zzzz* She wouldn’t have won Idol. in another year. Which is to say, pretty much any other year. S6 sucked. She got lucky.

I really do want to like Lady GaGa, due to RedOne and Mad Adam Love, but I cannot.do.it. I have her album, and it’s okay. Paparazzi is my favorite track on it, followed by Let’s Dance, but that’s kinda sorta about it. Every song is about wanting to be rich and famous or BEING rich and famous or having sex or wanting to having sex (e.g., Boys in Cars). Which is to say, every song sounds like every other song, and she sucked when she was on SYTYCD. Sadly, Katy Perry sucked when she was on Idol. Fortunately, Adam NEVER sucks.

The biggest GLARING disses are: All American Rejects, a year later & I still can’t get that song out of my head, Jason Mraz (hello “I’m Yours”), and more for T.I. He held the number one and #2 song for like weeks last year (October thru Nov, I believe). The have 6 females nom. but only 5 for Best Male video – and they were grasping at straws to even come up with those??? (Couldn’t they throw David Cook a bone on that one – then it wouldn’t be completely dominated by HipHop). And I know MTV did *sometimes* play Light On after hours. They DO still play videos, I have odd work hours = I’m basically nocturnal. 3am-9am is a block of videos.
