Kelly Clarkson performs her smash hit single, “My Life Would Suck Without You” on Live with Regis And Kelly this morning. In her interview beforehand, she talks about what it’s like going back to Idol. “Cool,” she says.

Tomorrow night, Kelly will appear on Saturday Night Live.

Bonus: Kelly is interviewed by Idol judge Kara DioGuardi for Entertainment Tonight. They talk about songwriting in part one, and in part two, Kelly addresses the lesbian rumors. Whoopee!

ETA: I’ve been avoiding addressing this, because it’s so idiotic, but, Um, she’s also not pregnant. Sheesh.

Videos after the JUMP…

I like that interview that Kara does with her. Kelly really is something special, as a person.

  • Duke

    best personality ever.

  • Dr. Tracey

I like Kelly, it’s interesting to hear her talk about being the realistic role model while looking at her totally over photoshopped MLWSWY artwork but what the hey that’s marketing for you. I like what she says and her CD.

I don’t like Kara, she’s so annoying, why does she move her neck around so much when she talks? She reminds me of one of those nodding dogs people put in their cars, kind of a cross between that and a turtle. She just repeats the same ‘buzz words’ again and again, I wish they hadn’t added her to the Idol mix.

i like kara. i think she is smart and knows her shit. she gave a great interview here.

that being said, i adoooore kelly. what a great person.

ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interesting to hear her talk about being the realistic role model while looking at her totally over photoshopped MLWSWY artwork

But the thing is that Kelly admits that her stuff is photoshopped and that she doesn’t look like that in real life. Nor does she even pretend to. I remember her blog entry a while back where she was like “they photoshopped the crap out of me, but whoever she is, she looks great!” lol

I love Kelly so much. I think she’ll always be my favorite of the Idols, though Daughtry and Cook come close. But there’s just something about Kelly and I saw it the very first time I saw her during the semi-finals of Season One. I was at a friend’s house and we were watching Idol and Kelly came on and I was like “that girl right there is gonna win this.” My friends were like “Nah. She’s good, but she’s not that good.” I was like “you watch. I’m telling you right now, she’s gonna win.” It was fun gloating when the season was over and she had won. XD

As always, that was a great performance of MLWSWY and those interviews just make me love her more.

I agree. I don’t hate on Kara at all. I think she’s a good judge and I think she did a good job on this interview.
Kelly is awesome. She’s not pretending to be anything yet she obviously feels a responsibility to her fans. I like her candidness and her sassy personality.

  • Niall

I think Kelly has been helped enormously by her decision to live in Texas most of the time when she is off the road. It seems to have helped her stay grounded and normal. Hopefully that never changes.

  • tinawina

It has been said before and it needs to be reiterated. Kelly is the best thing that ever happened to Idol. They need to bow down and every morning and thank god that girl won, because she is the reason they were not canceled by Season 3. Kelly Clarkson is the ultimate personification of the “nice person with enormous talent plucked from obscurity and turned into a megastar by America’s votes” – a premise that TPTB don’t truly believe in, but they try to sell to the American public every year. She makes that premise legit. Love her.

  • movin2thabeet

I appreciate Kelly’s honesty about her body image. Of course, she also said the photoshopped version of her looked great. Well, yeah, if you still think made-up perfect plastic dolls are pretty. The next step is fighting for and maybe even accepting images of you on your album covers and promo materials that are not doctored and show who you really are. Cause until that happens, she’s still allowing herself to be promoted as something other than her real self.

  • leome

There’s so much talk about Kelly’s body image and love life, it becomes annoying. She’s 26, she doesn’t have to be married or skinny. I think she’s really gorgeous the way she is.
She’s still so normal, it’s refreshing to see her and listen to her, compared to most pop singers out there.

I like that music more the way she performs it live, more of a lower regist, I think. Sounds different and a bit better.

  • oceana

I love these longer interviews with Kelly. When she was new on the scene, she was less articulate in interviews, but now she’s really relaxed and sharing a lot more of herself and what makes her tick. I love it.

It’s a myth that Kelly was an ordinary person before AI. Gerry Goffin, who wrote all the lyrics to the great Carole King sons of the 60s (You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?, etc.) was working with her in L.A., shopping her demo.

So, though she was a complete unknown to the world, she had been discovered by at least someone in the industry.

  • tinawina

So, though she was a complete unknown to the world, she had been discovered by at least someone in the industry.

Yeah, she had a demo deal, but nothing came of it. She didn’t like what was offered her and came back home, disillusioned from the business. She was just one of many young hopefuls that had spent time in LA trying to make it and came back defeated.

To me, that’s pretty ordinary. LOL.

  • YellowClouds

Kara is so much better at this E gig than she is as a judge. She’s just not likeable enough to be a regular on the idol cast.

7 years later, Kelly still rules. She really is something special.

  • oceana

Kelly was quite ordinary before Idol, with an extraordinary talent. She did go to LA and try to get someone interested in her, with no success, so she went back home and back to cocktail waitressing. She said later that she didn’t have “the look” they wanted (i.e. probably wasn’t thin enough or polished enough).

With her talent it seems like she would have found a way to succeed eventually but then again, it might never have happened. Thank God for Idol. It was a win-win situation for them and her.

Re Kara: Paula and Randy had very rocky years in the beginning so I give Kara time to find her footing. Sometimes she’s annoying but so are the other three.

  • juliec

I have to agree with everyone about Kelly, I love her for who she is and her talent. She has stayed grounded and true to herself after all this year. She has that down to earth, good natured quality with unbelievable talent that just comes out. No matter how the other Idol winners have succeed like Carrie, no one can top Kelly in terms of talent and personality and I like that about her. I always look forward to seeing and watching her. She s really going to stay long in this business.

  • SashaB

Kelly is amazing. She is legit. She’s the total package. She deserves all the accolades and what’s gravy is that she seems like a very genuine and real person. She killed it on Idol the other night. Now THAT’s how you perform on Idol. Good for her. Go Kelly!

  • abbysee

Kelly never fails to impress me. She is articulate without being smug or glib. She is quite confident in her abilities and she doesn’t try too damn hard. She just is.

Idol owes her a debt for sure because of her success, it validated the show’s premise. Too bad they have forgotten that America gets it right, and that cream rises to the top. She’s a gem.

I loved her banter with Regis and Kelly. She’s a funny chick. She sings the hell out of the song. That is what puts her head and shoulders above so many others, say what you will about that song, but in her hands if you listen to the words it’s just not a silly little ditty. She lends it some heft, some gravitas.

Kara’s interview was really good. Her natural curiosity served her well. Makes me want to lay off of her, just a little.

  • http://stores.ebay.com/BookWomanBlues-Book-Nook Bobbi

    Sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the total package.

I couldn’t agree more! Wish that was the kind of package they were looking for this year!

  • canadiandcfan

i love kelly. so so much.

  • http://everyopinion.blogspot.com Terrie

I was watching Kelly from the comfort of my recliner in the chemotherapy corner of my oncologist’s office this morning, along with all three staff nurses, my doctor and the other patients. They were checking out the “baby bump” they noticed during Kelly’s performance Wednesday night, except for my doctor who doesn’t watch TV at home because he thinks it’s evil.

I expressed doubt that she is pregnant — then I pointed out that she cannot change the body shape God gave her and her weight fluctuated even when she was on AI. The nurses flove Kelly and rushed to her defense, saying that she looks healthy and shouldn’t starve herself.

My oncologist observed that Kelly is a powerhouse operatic-style singer — his favorite type — and the extra weight might be beneficial to her vocal prowess. He also reminded his nurses that almost nobody looks as good as their airbrushed public images and it is admirable when someone like Kelly stays true to her authentic self.

So Kelly, not that you need it, there is professional medical support and appreciation for you. :thumbup_tb:

  • thesheriff

would someone please tell kara that it’s not that intense, it’s not that dramatic!!! man, i don’t like her!

    kelly, on the other hand….. :clap_tb: :thumbup_tb: :lol_tb:

  • Suzanne

Thanks, MJ. I really enjoyed those videos.

BTW–I think Kara did much better here as a journalist than giving criticism on Idol.

  • BlankSlate

Terrie — Just a note to wish you good luck {} I hope the music helps you Get Through This. AND YOU WILL.

  • beachn

When Kelly took the stage to sing on last week’s Idol, I thought:
Wow – you look just like you did during your season !!
It’s so refreshing that she walked out onto that stage – the huge superstar
that she is – looking as if she had done her own hair and styling.

She is a great role model especially compared to the other pop tarts of today !!

  • ordinarygirl09

it gets really annoying when people hate on kara all the time.

anyway, it was fun to see that Kara got to interview her good friend Kelly.

ET always trys to be all dramatic. but in the whole interview on etonline,Kara didnt even ask the lesbian thing, Kelly brought it up.

i love kara and of course kelly
