Kelly Clarkson Covers Trisha Yearwood’s “Walkaway Joe” (VIDEO)

The latest Kelly Clarkson fan-requested performance from her current tour is a beautiful rendition of Trisha Yearwood’s “Walkaway Joe.”

Kelly told the crowd at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, GA yesterday (Aug 8) “This woman is my favorite singer in the entire world. Her voice is like crystal and I’m sweating so much that I’m going to cover her song! I can’t believe I’m going to do it.”

“Her voice comes straight from God.” Kelly joked, “Like…mine was bypassed by seven others…”

    At the same show she sang DYWS with ‘Duets’ contestant, John Glosson. Kelly invited him to sing with her. That was really sweet of her :)

    Kelly shouldn’t shortchange herself.  Her voice is also a gift from God.  Just incredible!  Loved the duet with John as well.  Thanks mj and Van.

    Trisha Yearwood is probably my all time favorite singer. I’ve been to 20 of her concerts over the years. I think Kelly did an exceptional job and I am sure Trisha would be honored.

    That was beautiful!  I could listen to her sing songs like this all day long.  I really like the anthems, but I LOVE the simpler, more understated stuff like this so much more.  This one and Breathe from the other night are my favorites so far this tour, by a long shot.

    This video (at the 5:00 minute mark) includes some banter afterwards where she continued to gush (deservedly so!) over Trisha.  She mentioned that she’s been trying to get Trisha to come out on the road with her and sing with her.  I don’t know if that was just some rambling or if she is really trying to make that happen.  For some reason, I’m thinking Kelly is friendly with Trisha but I can’t think of why I’m under that impression.  If that were to happen though, I don’t know what I’d do.  If she’s serious, maybe she can make it happen at the last stop of the tour in Nashville.
