Kelly Clarkson Covers Mariah’s “Always Be My Baby” (VIDEO)

Kelly Clarkson told the crowd in Canadaigua, New York last night that if she had walked out and seen Mariah Carey at the American Idol judges table, she would have lost her mind!”

“I always love a really good, solid voice,” said Kelly of the pop superstar, “and she’s got a really really great one.”

To honor the newly-minted Idol judge, as her nightly fan-requested cover, Kelly sang Mariah’s hit, “Always Be My Baby,” which she calls a “couple skate” song. Ha.

    Fans send in their request via twitter. You use the hashtag #kcrequest, song, city, and your name.

    Slight correction, there needs to be an “s” on the first hashtag.  Her music director said he looks for #kcrequests when putting the list together for Kelly to choose from.  He’s also said it’s best to do the requesting 2-3 days out from the show you’re going to or else it gets lost in the twitter abyss.

    They literally tackle the songs during soundcheck the day of the show.  Here’s a few videos (mostly just audio) that some people have captured during soundchecks where you can hear them working through the songs.
