Kelly Clarkson is once again taking cover requests from her fans as she embarks on her summer tour. She’s covered fun. and the Foo Fighters.

Last night, she performed Katy Perry’s current chart topper “Wide Awake” in Concord CA last night. Kelly’s vocals are soulful over a rock-tinged lead guitar. A gorgeous twist on what’s become a ubiquitous summer hit.

    Ahhh I’m at work, so I have to wait to hear it! I’m sure it’s great! Kelly and Katy seem to fit well together  (ie. 2 songs Katy wrote were on AIEW)

    Wow.  I liked the song before, but the depth and soul of Kelly’s voice really made it even better.

    There was a great review of this show by the same guy that reviewed the Idol concert a few days before.  While I don’t like the comparisons that he makes because Kelly and the new Idols aren’t on level playing fields, it’s going to happen especially since this tour is hitting a few of the same areas as the Idol tour and not far apart.

    I like the song, but Kelly puts more emotion into her voice than practically anyone. Stunning, as usual.

    That was stunning. KP’s songwriting is so hit and miss for me, but this is decidedly one of her better ones, and KC knew just what to do with it.

    There’s a reason she’s gotten so many nicknames (i.e. Kelegend, Flawless-elly) : )

    In singing so many covers that are so diverse and putting her own mark on them, Kelly really shows just how amazingly versatile she is as a singer. I’m always so impressed by her renditions of these songs.
