Kelly Clarkson – Covers Eminem! “Lose Yourself” (VIDEO)

Does a song exist that Kelly Clarkson won’t try to take on? I am continually amazed at the depth and breadth of her musical knowledge. In Detroit tonight, she got several requests to sing Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” so the plucky singer gave it a whirl.

She could have hit it a little harder, and she tended to get a little lost in the fast rap at times, but I gotta tell ya, she pulled it off. What a cool thing for the kids in Detroit.

Extra added bonus: Kelly struck the right tone, wrapped in her friend’s hoodie!

    I just want to laugh at this and it’s not a bad laugh, more of a “I can’t believe she did this” laugh. Looked like she was having fun with it and the hoodie just topped it off.  haha  Thank goodness for the teleprompters. ;)

    Also at the very beginning of that video, it came right after the song she sang with Jordan (that Van posted), she says that they’re working on some songs for her.  Thought that was cool that she’s still sticking with these kids.

    I know! lol  What a cool thing for Kelly to do! I’m not a fan of rap at all, but just love that Kelly took on Eminem and did a great job! Lots of positive feedback on twitter, and not all of it from KC fans.

    It’s very cool and just shows how sincere Kelly is in her enthusiasm for Jason and Jordan. Kelly knows that these two kids are talented, but very inexperienced, and she’s helping them in that area. Plus, it was great of her to ask John Glossom (Jennifer Nettles’ “Duets” partner) to sing DYWS with her at another concert. Kelly sure puts her money where her mouth is.

    of these covers and sell it as a compilation video or audio package on
    itunes?

    Seriously, something at least.  Fans are doing a great job of ripping the audio from youtube clips, but something from the soundboard would be a such a welcomed treat.  This fan request covers stuff has really become a “thing” with Kelly that it’d be a shame that they didn’t take advantage of it in some way like that.  Then again, it’s also kind of neat that these are just moments in time.  I just did a rough estimation and counted up nearly 70 cover songs that she’s done just since her latest album was released.  That’s crazy!

    …And when I saw her in New York, she covered a Broadway tune, “My Man” by Barbra Streisand. Kelly can sing anything. And like some of you have said…she’s simply fearless.

    No, Kelly is certainly not a rapper, but she definitely pulled it off.  I gotta give her props for being brave enough to take this one on.  That’s guts.  ;)
