Kelly Clarkson took to Who Say Monday night to call out the UK paper, The Daily Mirror. She says they took her quotes and twisted them out of context:

Um ….wow, so a UK Magazine called the Mirror, Sunday Celebs edition, just put out an article on me and just to clear up the absolutely wrong so called quotes from me, I have never had anorexia nor did I ever say “no one should be as famous as me”. I said in the interview, when asked about fame, that I have no desire to be as famous as Britney or Madonna. I said that kind of fame was too much for any person and that I have experienced a portion of what they deal with and that I didn’t handle that well and I’m happy where I’m at in my career. Side note, I love when people take what you say and twist it to make you sound obnoxious and arrogant ….nice job Mirror.

Yikes. That so-called “quote” the paper pulled for their front page makes Kelly sound really petty. Gotta love the UK tabloids! Nice photo, though!

Season 6  alum, Jordin Sparks commiserated  with her fellow American Idol winner, tweeting the message, “Tell ‘em girl!!!!”   Kelly responded, ” I just can’t stand when people do stuff like that. It drives me bananas. By the way, I just saw Sparkle. Great job!! Loved it!”

Jordin tweeted back, “I hate it too! And thank you so much!! You slayed at the AMAs…I sang along to every word! :D”

    Uk rags are way slimier than here in the us. This was actually mild all things considered. What I love about Kelly is she just will take none of this crap. Also love that idol fraternal love. Makes me love the show more.

    Tell em KC!! Love reading all the tweets from fans and artists telling her they know she’s not that type of person. After 10 years in the industry, I’d hope that everyone knows Kelly is such a sweetheart.

    The band that opened for Kelly during her UK Stronger tour, Cover Drive, tweeted her a nice little message:

    @WeAreCoverDrive

    @kelly_clarkson Having had the pleasure of getting to know you on tour, we know you would never say anything like that. #staybeautiful

    Also, Jai Rodriguez, actor on Malibu Country sent Kelly a sweet tweet:

    @jairodriguez

    @kelly_clarkson ur so rad and humble. We know the truth. Hope you come play on @Malibu_Country w @reba and I

    Yeah for Idol love with Kelly and Jordan. Makes the world go round <3 <3

    As for the press, this is one of the reason I hardly read the press to begin with.

    Did she actually give them an interview? And if so, why? It’s no secret they make stuff up so why even bother talking to them?

    Good for Kelly!  The TOP 12 winners from every season belong to a very special club.  Abbysee, good description,  idol fraternal love.

    I think it can be even worse if you *don’t* talk directly with them :

    I always run these interviews through my own translator so I never thought Kelly said anything along these lines. But in the age of the internet this story could’ve exploded through Contact Music, Digital Spy, and other outlets that go for the most sensationalistic headlines and are part of the whole gossip echo chamber so it’s good Kelly set the record straight before that could happen. Especially seeing as the subject of eating disorders came up.

    I love Kelly, but is it wrong that I’m more excited by the Kelly and Jordin tweets?  Love how supportive most of the Idols are of each other, no matter how successful and no matter the season.

    When I read the headline on the front page, I laughed; this does not remotely sound like something Kelly would say.  More stars should call out media for mis or twisted quotes; they are a plague on the planet.

    The lesson here is next time if Kelly or any celeb want to do interview with slimy rubbish magz like Daily Mirror, just record your interview with them . So if they twist what you say, you had the proof of your innocence and can sue them.
