Report: Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert to Sing at Super Bowl

Kelly Clarkson is set to sing the National Anthem at the upcoming Super Bowl game on Sunday February 5. Also Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert will sing “America The Beautiful”. (The Tennessean)

The Superbowl will air on NBC. The Voice will premiere after the Superbowl.  Blake Shelton’s wife, Miranda Lambert and his pal Kelly Clarkson are set to be his celebrity advisers during The Voice battle rounds later in the season.

Total synergy! Still. I have no doubt everyone will KILL IT. Especially queen Kelly.

The news has not been announced officially, but I’d say it was a pretty safe bet. The league is expected to reveal the Super Bowl anthem singer later this month.

    I personally was hoping that John Mellencamp would do the anthem ( he is an Indiana boy, they haven’t had a man sing in 4/5 years). Oh well. That being said Kelly is an unsurprising choice ( the NFL sure likes those female Idolettes!) and she will absolutely do a fantastic rendition.

    Glamou5: Guess they misread the twitter petition and thought it was for Miranda lol. There’s always next year for Adam Lambert.

    I know this a joke but I’m going to be a grump. Miranda is a BIG deal in American music in terms of critical acclaim AND sales.  She deserves this on her own merits and I’m glad she got this. And, I’ve never known a twitter petition to have any effect on who gets looked on the Super Bowl.

    So, Kelly’s totally doing this live right? Carrie was the 1st to sing the SSB live at the Super Bowl in a while (Rickey Minor advises against it), then Christina was obviously live too.

    The NFL really seems to love them some Idols.

    I think it was just a tongue in cheek joke. I could be wrong and I laughed because it was funny but I certainly don’t think Miranda isn’t a star.

    WOW – so excited to hear that Kelly is gonna sing the Anthem at the Super Bowl!!  She killed it at the World Series last year, so I’m sure she’ll do great.   WTG Kelly C!

    Twitter petitions happen for a lot of things, I doubt they would have given it to Adam.

    I have no idea if it was live or if she lip synced….nor do I care.  The version was excellent and moving and I liked the fact it had accompaniment.  I get so tired of all the acapella versions where it turns into a she/he did it better than she/he did. And probably the best thing about Jordin’s version is that she didn’t scream, or make funny faces, or forget the words…she just SANG with lots of sincerity and emotion.

    HAHA Great callout. Kelly and XTina sharing a stage together is great, and I am VERY excited to see Kelly both at Radio City Music Hall on 1/21 and performing at the Super Bowl!

    You know why Kelly gets all these gigs? Because of three reasons: 1) She can sing LIVE and bookers know it; 2) She has now hit that magic number of 10 years (and 5 albums) in the music industry, which really increases her stature and status as a reliable and marketable force; and 3) She literally is the nicest, sweetest and most honest interviewer in the music biz today.

    Haven’t four of the last five NA singers on Superbowl Sunday come from the Idol ranks and the fifth had a “new show to promote” when she sang.  Would be interesting to see if all five have/had the same booking agent.

    Also, Idol alumni have a really high rate of prominent NA
    performances compared to the rest of the recording industry….wonder
    what the connection is.

    They can sing live, tend to have the range and they have name recognition for an all ages mass TV audience.
