Kelly Clarkson and Vince Gill – “Don’t Rush” – CMA Awards 2012 (VIDEO)

Kelly Clarkson debuted her new country single “Don’t Rush” at the CMA Awards Thursday night. Also on hand, was duet partner, country superstar, Vince Gill.

The original flavah Amwerican Idol winner was in fine form as she crooned the breezy mid-tempo tune with Vince. They both were terrific. And Kelly looked beautiful! She didn’t win Female Vocalist of the Year, but who expected that? The Grammys and AMAs are coming!

Watch the performance below.

They were great! They even were trending on twitter worldwide!
Their song jumped from #150 to #33 on itunes (and still rising)!!

Kelly looks fantastic. She has a super stah voice.  I’m glad she is doing country.
    Oops, the video went poof.

  • RustySax

Song’s got a nice, laid-back vibe to it.  I can see this doing very well on several Billboard charts.

Could that possibly be Vince’s wife (Amy Grant), in the shadows singing backup???  Looks & sounds a bit like her. . .

Is there ANY genre of music that Kelly cannot sing outstandingly well?  (Excluding opera – a whole different technique.)

Come on, Narvel – make a Kelly/Carrie tour happen!!!

  • lovetheusa1776

Enjoyed that very much – sweet and mellow in Kelly’s best vocal range.

I really like this song!  Kelly looked so pretty and very, very happy.  See what love does to you!

  • iluvai

Is that love???  If so, it looks good on her!!!  I have always thought she was a beautiful girl with an amazing voice!!  Kelly is the best Idol. :)

  • Reflects On Life

Love the throwbacky vibe and the sexy-mellow lyrics.  Missing this kind of music on the radio – bring it back!

  • abbysee

Love Kelly! Love Vince. She looked awesome!

It was Cherie Oakley.  She’s done bgvs for a lot of people, including Carrie.  She also sang on the recording of this song (and the new one The Band Perry sang tonight).

I love how laid back this song is and it just sort of lets her groove with it. I thought the performance was great and really contributed to a very strong overall show, imo.

I don’t know if any of you follow her on twitter, but I think she was a little excited to be singing with Vince today… no less than 6 tweets about singing with him.  haha  She’s said that he’s her top male vocalist so I can only imagine the thrill it was to share the stage with him.

    Where is Windmills?

  • Kerrymarketing

I also recall that Cherie Oakley wrote Reba’s hit song On The Radio and was in Season 1 of The Voice. I thought Cherie got the short end of the stick on The Voice by losing the battle round to an inferior singer after they sang a Kelly Clarkson duet and should have gone further in the competition.

  • kmd23

Kelly was great as always. Love the new song. She can sing any genre.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Great performance by both Kelly and Vince! I really like this song too! If this is the kind of “country” music that Kelly intends on pursuing, then I’m glad that I won’t have to take a “break” as a fan. It sounds like the audience really appreciated the performance too. Cool!

  • fuzzywuzzy

Just checked and “Don’t Rush” is up to #19 on iTunes!  :)

  • rayni

Hurricane got her down – she tweeted a couple of days ago that she had no power :(

  • ellen8

Kelly is the superstar of the century in my book !!
So natural and we got a glimpse of her with her boyfriend – cool beans !!

  • chillj

Glad that is all it is.  I miss her enthusiasm.

  • chillj

That is a lovely song.  I still don’t picture Kelly as a country artist.  Very strange.

    Wasn’t jumping up and down.
But she was successful in introducing herself, said “Hi, I’m nominated this year.”
    and that’s it. haha

  • Kitty Armistead

I keep trying to type out a well thought, articulate opinion, but the only thing my mind can come up with is “I LOVE HER…I LOVE HER…I LOVE HER…”

    THAT VOICE.

Seriously, can I have Kelly’s vocal range for Christmas?

  • 1rollbounce2

I decided I really like this song.  I like the bluesy/rb Kelly better.  And, isn’t Country the first cousin to Blues?

I actually consider her a bluesy/country singer who happens to be able to blast some pop/rock anthem on the side.

Her “Think Twice” rendition on idol was country to me.  She’s not going into unchartered territory is my final answer.

  • julesb2183

I would definitely go to a Carrie / Kelly concert. That thing would sell out fast if it happened!

  • remulack

Kelly has actually said that she trained in opera She also sang light opera plays in high school.
Kelly playing the lead in Brigadoon:

Loved the song and the performance.  Vince Gill has a lovely voice and can sing with anyone.
