Kellie Pickler Talks Luke Bryan, Adam Lambert and More on CNN (VIDEO)

Kellie Pickler dropped by CNN Headline’s Showbiz Tonight to talk about her hunger initiative with ConAgra, but she also weighed in on the Luke Bryan National Anthem (non)controversy and with her thoughts on who should be an American Idol judge.

She was sitting up in the stands (she was set to sing at the 7th inning stretch later) while Luke sang the anthem before the All Star game on Tuesday and did not notice the country singer looking at his hand. Regardless, Kellie felt his performance was beautiful, and if he needed a little cheat sheet to get through the song, “So what!” she said. “He sang his butt off!”

Kellie was surprised to hear that Idol producers were looking for new judges. But when the host namechecked Adam Lambert (who is rumored to be in the running) Kellie chirped, “I like him!” When the host wondered if Kellie would like the job, she said, “NO, I would not want to be an Idol judge!” She added, “All I’ve ever wanted to do, was live on a tour bus, and be a country singer.”

When asked to comment on a clip of Slash dissing Idol, she said that she loves Slash, but she can’t complain about Idol. “I can’t bite the hand that feeds me.”

Later in the broadcast, she came back with comedian, Chuck Nice, to comment on the Top 5 Buzz, that included 5. Susan Boyle driving her neighbors crazy singing the same songs over and over again! (“Move!” says Kellie), 4. Cookie Monster’s Carly Rae Jepsen parody (Kellie had never heard “Call Me Maybe!” She’s a Tammy Wynette kind of a gal),  3. Official Olympic photos 2. Daniel Tosh of Tosh. 0 making rape jokes (Chuck defended him) 5. R&B artist, Frank Ocean coming out gay  (Kellie says, “I have so many friends and so many people who are close to me who are family–who are gay”)
