Kellie Pickler – Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful – Today Show

someone should’ve sung this song to her before she got her…enhancements.

This song, Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful , is so similar structurally and thematically to Martina McBride’s This One’s For the Girls that it seems kind of like a rip off.

My take on this Today show specifically is that Kellie Pickler has serious problems with live vocals. This song actually sounds pretty good on the CD version but her live performances are simply lifeless. I gave her a pass at the CMT awards because I figured it was a new song and it was her first time out, but this one isn’t anything to write home about either.

I love Kellie’s personality, and the CD track of this song sounds great…its just her live voice that’s way too thin and flat (and I’m not referring to pitch) for my taste. Dare I say I’d take KLC’s live voice over Kellie’s anyday?

All I can say is Elliott better get the same red carpet rolled out for him when his CD debuts.

I’m sure Kellie is a sweet enough girl with a fun personality. But all I hear is a very weak singer here that was painful to listen to. It’s amazing what kind of miracles they can pull off in the studio now with pitch adjusters and other technological gadgets so it doesn’t surprise me that the studio version of the song was better. But I won’t be buying any Kellie Pickler music. I think she would be fine on some TV show though.

Lord that was just all kinds of bad.

Kellie personality is a major plus w/ better than average but not great vocals will get her far in both music and tv. The comparison I hear to Dolly P is a bit unfair. Why? Dolly vocally is better and more accomplished at songwritting and Personality wise thier is only one Dolly . So Kellie is probably honored with the comaprison more than that though Kellie is very happy being Kellie.

I’ve heard this one live. Kellie is fantastic in concert, and this song sounds much better live than yesterday.

It’s unfortunate, but the sound engineers for Today were all over the place yesterday. They couldn’t get anything right. You could hear Kellie talking in the background when they were interviewing someone else. The volume dropped off when she was singing. Other parts of the show seemed rushed and poorly managed as well. Today dropped the ball.

Just OK for me, I’m afraid. Kellie reminds me so much of a young Dolly Parton. She’s so darn likable! I still remember her at the Idols tour concert. She is so sweet and very genuine.
