Kellie Pickler visited the Ellen Degeneres show to talk about her decision to shave her head in solidarity with a dear friend who was about to embark on chemo treatments for breast cancer.

“It’s just hair,” the season 5 American Idol alum said of her new look. I have to say, Kellie–who isn’t wearing a scarf or a wig–looks rather regal sans her blond locks.

Kellie revealed that her grandmother passed from cancer the day after she was diagnosed. Kellie feels privileged to have the opportunity to be her friend’s “cancer buddy” as she goes through chemo and recovery.
