Katharine McPhee re-recorded the Kara Dioguardi-penned tune, “Terrified” with Chuck star, Zachary Levi. The song initially appeared on Katharine’s album Unbroken, with Jason Reeves as her duet partner.

The song was released on iTunes this week, and today, the video premiers on VEVO.  Watch it after the jump.

I thought the original was just fine, but the Chuck dude might bring some more attention to the song.  Kat is probably working some cross-promotion deal with NBC. Currently she’s filming a pilot called The Pink House for NBC. She also guest starred in the Joel McHale comedy, Community.

Katharine’s peeps know how to market her.

Video after the JUMP…

Isn’t the premise behind these collabos to bring in a person that will help sell the records? What’s next? If I Had You FT. the guy from Meatballs part 3?

I like K. McPhee, but I still like Didi’s version of this song a little better…

I think the Chuck guy was chosen because Katherine is supposed to star on some NBC sitcom in the fall. Perhaps the song will show up as part of some NBC promo stuff.

    I like Didi’s version better too. I don’t think it’s Kat’s fault though, I think it’s the production.

Well, I LOVE IT….but I would love it if Kat sang the phone book!..Enough said.

So, does she want to be blond or brunette? I thought she was going back to the original look, but apparently not.

  • sass

Kat has gone back to being a brunette. Vid was taken before she decides to change back to her natural color.

Love the video, tastefully done and love the chemistry between Zach and Kat. Nice story line too!

Side note: Kat’s ‘Lifetime’ is being used in a promo clip
for the TLC show “19 Kids & Counting”. Family bring home their latest child ,a premie. Mother’s day show on Sunday.

That’s why she has so few sales — they know how to market her?? I don’t think she knows what she wants and jumps from one thing to another and still hasn’t made it!

The music career is a sideline to her acting career. She’s not aiming to be a huge pop star.

She’s in the mags all the time, and has a couple of acting things in the pipeline. If her pilot “The Pink House” for NBC works out, she could be starring in a network TV show. I’d say she’s doing pretty well.

IMO, Kat and her label are not too concern about sales. They have said Kat is with Verve for the long term. Her fanbase will continue to grow with her appearances & marketing. Kat fortunately is also given the opportunity to record & pursue her acting

Yeah, it’s likely some cross-promotion deal with NBC.

I like this duet and I don’t really care what color her hair is. I think she has a lovely voice.

I love this video. It is really amazing! I like Terrified on the Unbroken CD, but this is even better. Zach’s voice is a little stronger and creates better harmony with Katharine’s beautiful voice. I know this version of Terrified is avialble on I-tunes and Amazon, but where can I buy the video?

  • Reflections On Life

What are Danny Gokey and Kara DioGuardi doing in a Kat McPhee video? Is that a cross-promotional thing too??

    kidding… ;)

Kat sounds amazing in this – delicate, intimate, pure. Zach’s bass is too strong and weighs down the duet. Would have preferred it with her alone.

HeHe the brunett did remind me of Kara, but the guy is far to cute to look like the Gokester!

    Didi should release this a a single…

I love Kat. I love her voice, but she’s a really good actor too.

Singing and/or acting are both great gigs for her! :)

I liked the Kat McPhee / Zachary Levi parts of the video, but the rest was lame.
