Kat always looks beautiful, but I didn’t really need to read a paragraph about the thought process behind her hair dye or the profound effect it’s had on her clothing choices. I think this is why I don’t read People to begin with, lol.

I heard “Open Toes” in a Skechers store the other day and started laughing out loud. The cashier probably thought I was insane. She has nowhere to go but up, I guess.

I like the black and white picture, but I’m not crazy about the colored one. Definately like her better as a brunette.

Why do I get the feeling from these pictures that they’re going to go with the “quirky retro girl” thing in the music? (maybe just that that’s the “package” a lot of folks are pushing these days? see DioGuardi, Kara, commenting on Joy, Megan…uh-oh, Megan, Kat’s taking your spot, and her record’s already under way!)…. Maybe that’s not it. I don’t see that as a very good fit for Kat’s voice, really. But the pictures sure give me that feeling, and clearly they weren’t put out there by accident….

I’m loving the new look. I adore her as a brunette but she pulls this look of much better than I thought. I truly am even more excited for her new CD now!!

She does look a bit like Megan Joy…I think it looks terrible on Katharine though. She was a knockout brunette and she had a really nice image going for her. At least when her music didn’t work out, she still was beautiful.

I’m interested what her music will sound like, but she should have kept her hair the same. She just made the total wrong type of music for her debut…so hopefully this will be an improvement. I just hope it isn’t too past her Idol days for her to be successful!

That’s the first thing I thought of with the picture! I have a feeling the album will be a big Duffy rip off. Well, you know, she is that “package artist” so stuff like hair and photoshoots are more crucial than the actual music.

Her brows are much too dark for that blonde. She should have had them lightened too. But, she really looks much better as a brunette. Hope she has fun with it!

Wow, what kind of crash diet did she go on? I don’t know if I like this Hollywood/entertainment obsession with being stick thin. I know most Americans are too fat, but she looks like she went a little too far.

I think you may be onto something. I expect Duffy-lite.

I don’t know. She was so pretty with the long brunette hair, but this does make her look more current and less pageant.

She gives off bitch vibes, but for some reason I like her. I hope her new CD does better than her last one, though I liked quite a few songs on that one too.

Not sure if I like it or not. If she’s trying for something more edgy, and different than her Katherine McPhee music of old I think changing her physical appearance is a good way to start.

Will bleaching her hair help to sell more CD’s? I doubt it, because people have forgotten about her, and there’s a lot of new Idols out there fresh in their minds. Either the photo is very photo shopped or she’s become anorexic, although she still has the huge shoulders. I don’t like this look at all, and she will not stand out in a crowd like she did before.

Katharine McPhee would be gorgeous with lavender or chartreuse hair so I’m okay with the blond thing.

I guess I’m officially a hypocrite because I’m one of those fans who think Adam Lambert has gone too far with all the hair dye and make-up, but I actually think Kat looks great as a blonde and with the shorter hair here.

I’m officially neutral on her (maybe I should change my handle to “Swiss Cheese”) as both a singer and a “celebrity,” but sometimes something as minor as a hair change can catapult somebody into superstardom. Hell, look what the right haircut did for Jennifer Aniston, LOL.

Cool, if you want to change your look, but make it a little believable. IMO, it looks ridiculous and is a dead giveaway that they died their hair. In the case of famous people, I blame the stylists. As professionals, they should complete the job.

I think it could work if they do it right. Her voice always sounded good over adult pop type stuff and retro stuff. All Amy Winehouse et al do is take that music and update it lyrically to make it “edgy”. So if she picks lyrics that fit her vibe – ice queen bitchy? lol – that could be kinda fun!

I think it’s pretty settled now that Kat is, in the deepest recesses of her soul, a model. One with a good voice, albeit, but whenever people disparage Taylor Hicks I think, “Oh, yeah, so Katherine McPhee would’ve sold more records?”

I agree that it’s probably supposed to look that way – ala Marilyn Monroe. But for the record, my natural hair is still that color – only not brassy and I’m 50 years old and not an albino – lol. So there are some of us out there.

Still don’t like the eyebrows though.

She has a beautiful face, 3 pounds of makeup and great B/W photography…anyone would look great under those conditions. I’m sure in color that hair is atrosh and maybe a bit trailer.

Ummmmm, WTF?! Blonde?!?? No, just no. I really can’t stand it when gals (i.e. brunettes) do that. Maybe I’m just biased and bitter (heh), being a natural brunette growing up with two younger (taller, slimmer) blonde sisters but I just think it’s wrong.

Goldie Hawn is definitely sporting some dark roots in those photos, however. I have no doubts she was blonde as a child, but like most of my blonde friends, I think she needed to, er, enhance the color once she hit adulthood. She’s definitely sporting a “natural blonde” look though. I don’t think that’s the look Kat is going for — at least I hope it isn’t because natural looking it is not!

She had a supporting role in The House Bunny last year, which is all over cable right now. Maybe she thinks if she goes blonde she’ll get the lead role next time!

House Bunny was like a female ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ it made me laugh, so it did it job. Kat was pretty good in it.

True blondes don’t always have light brows. My first husband, and granddaughter both have blonde hair, blue eyes and almost black brows and lashes. My granddaughter gets comments on it all the time as she wears little make-up and it’s obvious that it’s natural. I’ve always thought Katherine had a lovely voice, but should stick with the Josh Grobin style of music and I though she was as she’s with producer, David Foster last I knew. I hope her sophmore effort does better than the first.

Looks like she also has a bracelet that is pretty close to what Adam wears. Except for the color, the tank top is also pretty close.
