Ruh rho!   The rumors are true. The hotly anticipated Kanye West/Lady Gaga tour has been canceled!   Via ABC news:

Kanye West and Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated tour is over before it even began.

Just days after announcing dates for an ambitious joint show that was to kick off next month, the tour was canceled.

Live Nation announced the news in a brief statement Thursday that did not offer any explanation. Refunds are available for those who brought tickets for the tour. It was to kick off Nov. 10 in Phoenix and was scheduled to run through at least January.

The name of the tour was to be “Fame Kills” ‘” a sentiment West may have been feeling in recent weeks. The Grammy-winning rapper has endured a firestorm of negative publicity since he hijacked the award-winning moment of country-pop sweetheart Taylor Swift at last month’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Rumor has it that it was Lady Gaga who pulled out. More will be revealed, I’m sure…

  • haruhi

    Good call By Lady Gaga.

  • Natasha

If Gaga pulled out I can’t blame her. Not sure I’d want to traipse around the country with Kanye right now.

  • suebrody

Maybe Adam and GaGa can tour together.

    KIDDING!!!

  • PattyH

    Good call By Lady Gaga.

Agree completely! Next announcement will probably be that Kanye is going into rehab!

ETA: Suebrody, I almost posted that too!

    sadz.whatevs.Jim tweeted:

RT @slightly_askew If the Gaga/Kanye tour was canceled, that clears the way for Gaga/Lambert, yes? YESX100. But I’d want Adam to headline ;) about 1 hour ago

    yeah ,right.haha

  • SparklesATL

Maybe Chris Brown will sign up and the tour can commence.

  • mgk

I wonder if their egos clashed? They seem like an odd pair to tour together anyway.

  • soccerboi

Sure seemed like an odd pairing to me also. Lady GaGa’s fans are not Kanye fans and visa versa…

  • ravengirl

    Excellent move, GaGa.

And what’s wrong with a GaGa/Adam pairing? I’d be first in line to see that.

  • ALYESKA2

I have a feeling that when Adam tours it will be his tunes, his show, his turn to shine solo! I don’t think at this point he needs, wants or has to have anyone else. Just my opinion! And, I hope he does it solo, as Paula once said, “..my eyes are focused on you!”

  • Duke

    OMG! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

She was coming to miami, and i was already budgeting for tickets. DAMN!!!!

And as much as I would love to see Adam and GaGa on tour together, I don’t want to see Adam do just an opening set. I want a good hour and a half. Plus, after experiencing Adam on tour, I realized that after he performs, my ability to pay attention to anything afterwards needs a full day of recovery before its back to normal…

  • Mtlfan

Good for her. she has worked very hard to be where she’s at at the moment. I understand she doesn’t want to associate with him

  • houstonrufus

    Eeeep. Somehow, I’m not surprised.

  • sidewalkstory

Lady Gaga went to a posh private school in Manhattan. A Catholic school- Convent of the Sacred Heart. Could you imagine what an outcast she must have been?

  • becausehelives

    I wonder why? .

  • girlygirl

Someone named RandDuren is posting on twitter that Adam will open for Lady Gaga. But if you click the link to his blog, he’s only saying it’s a rumor

    http://www.randrambles.com/2009/10/adam-lambert-to-open-for-lady-gaga/

But Elephant 1212, the IDF poster who has the uncle who (supposedly) works at 19, is claiming that this is true, that Adam will be opening for Lady Gaga

Yet another thing to take with a HUGE grain of salt…

  • fearbear

Good move GaGa, it wouldn’t bode so well to be associated with Kanye right now.

  • GaGaGlambert

Glad it got canceled. It seemed like such an odd pairing and ticket prices were ridiculous compared to Gaga’s solo tour. Would like to see her and can’t wait to see Adam. If they tour together, that works for me.

  • ppwars

Kanye is Ghetto scum, and proved it.lol!!!! NAaaaaaaaa. He’ll learn and b back. But for now, GaGa made a good call. Gatta say that I have warmed to her product lately, and this doesn’t hurt.

Adam canno open? HUH! He should count his lucky stars! Just luckier than most at this stage.

  • Mtlfan

maybe there had been a little too much tickets reimbursements or a some slow down in sales for the tour and they preferred to cancel than taking the chance that the tour flopped

  • suebrody

This Elephant 1212 has got it going on…soon we shall see if her inside info has any validity.

I am just not a GaGa fan. I do not think Adam will do a tour by himself right away, tho, I agree. I mean, who would open for him? I think it’s the other way around. I would like to see him tour with Katy Perry more, tho she doesn’t have a great voice live (tho she was good in an acoustic video).

Kanye can suck it at this point.

  • BestAI

If Adam opens for Lady Gaga, it can’t be a bad thing. He will be starting out playing at the biggest venues for his first semi-solo tour. He will gets lots of experience/exposure and make a ton of money.

According to ontd_ai.com poster ‘MorphineMouse’ , Lady Gaga was interviewed by a Las Vegas radio station this morning, where she (allegedly) said the following’ ¦

[quote from MorphineMouse's post] OK GUYS GAGA SAID IN HER INTERVIEW THIS MORNING THAT SHE DESPERATELY WANTS ADAM TO OPEN FOR HER IN MARCH BUT ITS UP TO HIS PEOPLE WEATHER HE SIGNS ON OR NOT.

Again, huge grain of salt, unless/until someone provides proof that Lady Gaga actually said this

Even if the GaGa quote is accurate there is NO WAY Adam should ‘open’ for anyone he deserves to headline his own tour –
He may guest star on 1 show – that might be cool – 1 show…

  • tiger92

You are joking, right? I think Adam would fall all over himself if this was offered to him. I am a complete Adam stan and I believe we have great things to look forward to. But this would be an amazing opportunity.

  • jms

I’ll be interested to hear why she pulled out…slow ticket sales? Kanye issues?

  • 123abc456

Lady GaGa does not play huge venues. She recently played a venue in Washington DC that held 3700 people about the size of the venue that David Cook played in Atlantic City last Saturday. She had no opening act and she only played for one hour with no encore. She was an hour and a half late. I think David Cook sounds like a much better deal. YMMV

  • evanjane

I just had a thought, David Cook on twitter was wondering what big secret Katy Perry had via her tweet. I wonder if the big secret is that Katy Perry will be touring with Gaga. Kanye mentioned that with Gaga no on was the headliner — they were co-headliners. Katy and Lady Gaga could do the same.

We will see if that comes to fruition now that she has cancelled the tour with Kanye, who knows? But at this point she is not playing huge venues.

Well, she’ll have to have more material. The DC show included 10 songs.

    Fancy that? So did I!

I did see the 2012 commercial. The movie should appeal to teenage boys and people who don’t care about scripts.

  • bridgette12

I don’t think for a second Adam is going to open for Lady Gaga. He’s a headliner, not a opening act. Adam needs the chance to create his own image and style. He doesn’t need to travel with Lady Gaga and become some kind of Lord Gaga. Plus, I don’t think for a second RCA would go along with that. If his album sells well in the U.S. and abroad, then he’s going to be a valuable commodity. He can make money for for the company and himself, by having his own tour.

And people who like special effects and looking at the cuteness that is John Cusack and just general disaster mayhem movies. While the commercial didn’t give me the feeling that it’ll come anywhere close to the goodness that was Independence Day, I’ll still go because it’ll likely be good popcorn fun.

Adam’s not at the point yet where he can headline his own arena tour. And Adam’s brand of music (at least what I imagine we are getting in this album), combined with his love of theatrics and wanting to create “big” shows is made for arenas, not smaller venues. So it would make perfect sense for Adam to tour with Lady Gaga; he’d get to play the big arenas right out of the gate. Personally, I hope the rumor is true!

I’m a huge Adam fan and can totally see him opening for someone else. With the kind of production Adam has talked about wanting for a tour, it would be very expensive for him to do that as a solo tour. Also, opening for someone on an arena tour would give him more exposure. Adam is a newbie just like all the other idols. Adam has a strong performance identity, I don’t think opening for another act would diminish that in any way at all.

  • NewFan

She had no opening act and she only played for one hour with no encore. She was an hour and a half late.

well! dat not good! Adam is nothing if not punctual. So no, they should not play together.

But I guess he could sing longer if she didn’t show up for a while. so, maybe they should play together.

  • boredinschool

I think that opening for Gaga would be genius. They’re both theatrical and talented and creative. Yes Adams singing would upstage hers but her theatricality and costumes might outstage his. Dynamic Equilibrium people.
    Glitter Everywhere.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Artistically, I would say Kanye was doing GaGa a favor. His music is way better, and he has more than one album under his belt.

I don’t think he needs her. He might need help (rehab), but he doesn’t need to tour with her. He’s way more established than she is.

I also don’t think Adam can headline anything but small HOB clubs just yet. If he wants to open for Gaga… whatev. I’d prefer him in smaller clubs at first.

Kanye is Ghetto scum, and proved it.lol!!!!

There is nothing “ghetto” about Kanye West. He’s the son of an English professor. His first album was all about being a disenfranchised middle class college dropout. LOL. He never rapped about crime, guns or running drugs… lately its all been about fame, women and the angst that comes with all that.

That said, he is a raging egomaniac as a lot of creative types are.

Him touring with Gaga made sense because she’s done a lot of stuff with the hiphop community and was introduced to the world by Akon. Plus they could both pull butts into an arena, at least before Taylorgate.

Adam is needs to headline a smaller tour first, I think. One would want to work out the kinks before opening for someone so high profile.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Yes, and he’s one of the few hip hop artists who have spoken out against homophobia. He may need help, but he’s not all bad. He’s most def not ghetto. LOL.

I hope that Kayne gets some help, like rehap and f’reals (and shut up Amy Winehouse, you need it too!) because I may not like the sonofabitch, but I think it’s a shame when anyone negatively impacts their life due to subtance abuse.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Honestly, I don’t know if Kanye need rehab or just a therapist. I hope he gets what he needs, because he is definately struggling.

As for Any Winehouse, that just makes me sad. Did y’all see her rapping? So much talent wasted. I fear it’s too late for her. Hope I’m wrong.

Well to me good rehab contains good therapy, but yeah maybe you’re right, he only needs good therapy and that can help with potential substance problems.

Oh and totally agree about Amy Winehouse, total and utter waste. Makes me so sad and yeah, I think it’s too late for her.

  • jopinola

This sucks!!!! I had 5th row tickets for the Vancouver show. Gaga was interviewed by a local station a couple of days ago and talked about the tour – they were going to perform together for the entire length of the concert, each starting from opposite ends of this “runway” type stage and would work their way towards each other, telling a story. I was so ready for the spectacle, so excited, it was going to be epic. I really hope Kanye gets help. He has issues but, in my opinion, he’s trully brilliant.

  • HotHotHot

There isn’t any reason that Adam shouldn’t open for someone on his first tour. That way he wouldn’t have to be completely in charge the first time. I’m sure there is a big learning curve on this sort of thing. The main problem would be finding someone he fit well with and who wouldn’t be worried about being overshadowed.

  • Q3

If he did a solo tour, he wouldn’t be in charge. The concert promoters and the artist’s management team take care of most things. Adam would just need to worry about his performances and support concert promotion.

But, Adam should be in a fairly large venue — and that is a big financial risk. A lot depends on how well his album sells. Based on that he’ll be an opening act, tour with someone else with equal billing, or have a solo tour. Going from 0 to a solo tour is a huge leap — one that would only happen if his album is a monster hit. (in other words, not very likely.)

  • NewFan

    Hey guys,
Don’t give up on Amy just yet. Hold the faith.

    sorry MJ.
I know it’s off topic (but Amy really needs as many optimistic well wishers as she can get).

  • briguyx

I think the problem with the Kanye/Gaga tour was the fact that Kanye would be touring without any new music to promote and doesn’t have any songs on the radio right now that would get people excited about coming to see him. His last album came out a year ago and he did a big tour behind it already. So the need to see him now probably wasn’t there.

  • Keel

Adam is needs to headline a smaller tour first, I think. One would want to work out the kinks before opening for someone so high profile.

This^^. Even Daughtry who sold 5x platinum on his first album and is on his second album did a small venue tour first (i.e., places like the Fillmore in SF (1000 capacity or so) and Foxwoods in MA (around 5000 capacity) before kicking off his arena tour. I doubt RCA/19 would risk booking large venues right away for Adam until he’s had a track record of selling out the smaller venues first.

I really don’t see what the big deal is about Adam opening for someone. Yes, it’s frustrating for his hard core fans who’ll want to see him do a longer set — but since he will be performing mostly songs from his first album, it’s not like he’ll be doing a 20 song set list off the bat anyway. He’ll simply be limited in his material. Hopefully, his hard core fans will realize that for his career, opening for Gaga or someone more established gets him in front of eyes and ears that perhaps would not otherwise be exposed to him — thus giving him an opportunity to expand his fanbase.

  • Grammie Kari

An established female performer would work well for Adam’s first tour.

  • terri09

I’m not a huge Gaga fan, but let’s be real here…..Adam would be all over a deal like this in a hot minute, as well he should be. There’s nothing more I would love than to see him perform by himself for a couple hours, but it’s probably not going to happen for a while. Gaga loves Adam and I’m sure she’d do everything in her power to get him the stage time he deserves. I can actually see them performing together…..not just Adam opening up for her….who knows?

After listening to her radio interview from a few days ago, I totally understand why Adam is such a fan. She’s very similar to him…polite, humble, caring and they obviously share a theatrical component with each other as well.

We’ll see what happens….could be a great break for Adam if it indeed happens.

  • jpfan

I’m not sure about Kelly but both Carrie and Daughtry who had the best selling albums of the year started out with small tours and/or as opening acts.

And yeah, I think they might want to see how the album sells before putting Adam on a major tour. :) I don’t think Gaga can fill big arenas without an equally big co-star which Adam isn’t. Although if she plays smaller gigs (3-5K), he’d be perfect. His fans can always leave when his set is over. That always goes over well in Idol world.

  • Squirrely

Adam should definitly be an opening act in the beginning. As popular as he is I don’t think he can fill an arena show in the US. As to who he should open for is the question, the names that come to mind are already touring such as Madonna, Pink and even Britney Spears. A Adam and Christina Aguilera (sp) tour would be hot!

  • stardust462

I’d love to see this – Adam, Katie Perry, and Lady Gaga. I love Adam and Gaga, Katie is just okay for me, but it looks like a winning combination.

  • Ladyguard

Lady Gaga went to a posh private school in Manhattan. A Catholic school- Convent of the Sacred Heart. Could you imagine what an outcast she must have been?

I went to a Catholic elementary and high school. Believe me we were no angels. :) Im sure she fit in quite well

  • http://www.planetfierce.proboards.com rowenaaine

Rumors are endlessly interesting. Especially the way they multiply in a frenzy on twitdevil. But in all honesty, if Gaga approaches Adam about touring together, it would be fantastic for both of them.

As much as I love Adam (hey, I spent a lot of money for three Idol shows just to see his 20 min set) he is not going to be ready to headline stadiums and arenas. Not on a first album. As popular as he seems to be, the tour promoters won’t take that kind of risk. Let’s all remember the man has no single or album yet. He can’t possibly even consider lining up the kind of venues we want for him. It’s fun to dream but we need to keep our hopes grounded in reality. Music is a business.

By opening for Gaga (or another current pop hitmaker) he exposes a new non-Idol audience to his performances, while bringing an Idol audience to a show they may not have otherwise gone to see. Win-win for both performers. This has real possibilities for 2010…if Gaga is interested, that is.

  • TwigLA

I’m amazed (not) how little this interests me or impacts my life.

” I went to a Catholic elementary and high school. Believe me we were no angels. Im sure she fit in quite well>” — Ladyguard

12 years here, myself and 3 of my high school years were at an all girl school until the school closed and we joined the all boy’s high school. LOL Many were monied, so drugs were rampant. Study Hall in the cafe, people were doing lines under the Brothers’ noses. (no pun intended.) Now we’re the leaders of America.

People forget that it’s all a persona. Even in Adam’s case. Showmanship.

  • bmms

Well, I’m not surprised about the rumor that it was Lady GaGa that pulled out of the tour, plus I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the rumor is indeed true. I’m sure she doesn’t want to be seen with the likes of West. Lady went to a private Catholic school? Me too! The idea of Adam performing within a tour with Gaga would be great, IMO. Although, I completely agree with ROWEAAINE.

  • tiger92

His fans can always leave when his set is over.

It’s their money-they can do whatever they want to! I have a feeling many of them would want to stay for the whole show. Even if you aren’t crazy about Gaga’s music, I’m sure she puts on an entertaining show. Plus, I’m fairly sure there would be no “barricades” to get to. haha

  • dflowers

Good move GaGa. Kanye may be talented but he has a huge ego and an even bigger “lack of filter”.

As for an Adam and Lady GaGa tour, I think it would be genious and I would be right behind Ravensgirl in line for my ticket. Even better if they came to a venue in or around Albuq.

  • reinharv

I thought this thread is about Kayne West & Lady GaGa’s tour being cancelled? I find it very annoying that at every opportunity Glam’s fantards find at posting anything & everything about Adam Lambert.

Back on topic, I am not surprised that the tour is cancelled. West is an idiot & he’s proven that time & again & since his recent stupidity, it’s wise for Lady GaGa to not be associated with him & tour with him when all this is fresh on everyone’s mind. I’m no GaGa fan but it was a good move.

It’s all just a diversion TwigLA. It’s great that you don’t need one but it is fun.

I figured that the Kanye thing was just a poorly executed stunt that went horribly awry. Lady Gaga is fun but she’s a stunt personified. Her music isn’t all bad. I kinda like some of it but she walks a thin line between performance art and cliche.

I hope that Adam’s chameleon penchant continues to serve his music without becoming a thing unto itself. I know that he values Madonna and Gaga but I think he can do better. So, I’d rather see him tour with someone who is more about the music. Pink is good. I don’t like Aguiliera (sp) very much … but she’d be a better choice too.

I think because 1) Adam has said on several different occasions that he is a huge GaGa fan and that he’d love to due a dream duet with her and 2) The two would fit perfect (in terms of style, fanbase ect…) together on a tour.

If J.Mraz was GaGa in this situation, I think a lot of ppl would be talking bout Kris instead…id personally rather see J.Mraz and Adam together, but ya know…just doesnt totally fit. see? well actually, im thinkin it kinda does…

  • Sherena

Gaga and Adam, yes, DO want. It would be the perfect opportunity for Adam to gain some new fans, and I think they would be EXACTLY the demographic he is shooting for, too. If he does a solo tour, it would be filled with Idol watchers, and he won’t reach a new audience.

Of course, such a tour would be a complete pipe dream… well, now a *little* more possible…

Btw Re: Kanye. The whole outrage over what he did is just ridiculous. I can’t believe this is actually hurting his public image majorly, instead of blowing over in a few days. It’s not a big deal.

IMHO Adam and Lady GaGa would be a great fit.
However, if it doesn’t work out – there is nothing whatsoever wrong with him touring at smaller venues.

The biggest bands in the world today started out in smaller concert halls.
Generally, if they sold out like hotcakes (as so many of them did) they would just add extra days and extra shows. Nothing wrong with that.

It is an excellent way to develop experience. He doesn’t need to go right to the large halls and stadiums, if he doesn’t wish to. But, no matter where he goes – no question – it’ll be sold out in hours.

I know Adam really loves Lady GaGa but I just don’t like her very much. I enjoy some of her music but…on stage I think she’s just a ridiculously looking ‘gimmick’. After her performance on the award show all I could think was ‘What the heck was that?!’ I’m all for some theatrics but she’s too over-the-top for my tastes.

Adam has such a great voice and stage presence….he can be theatrical but he doesn’t need ‘gimmick’. There is a big difference to me.

Hopefully if he does do a tour with her, he won’t get caught up in her antics. Just my opinion!

Has anyone mentioned low ticket sales? $160………no thanks!!!

Oh he totally will and that’s what I am afraid of. He needs people around him that says no. Remember the comment on the zodiac show video, about being noticed for his great voice or looking like a matrix albino? I think Gaga has crossed this line.

    SAGA

I totally agree with your comment. A video I remember seeing of Lady Gaga having ‘sparks’ flying out of her breasts makes me remember Adam’s ‘firery headdress’ idea….and I’m hoping he’ll have people around him that will, as you say, tell him no! He has too much amazing talent to get stuck in a Lady Gaga ‘label’. Again, just my opinion.

I agree as well. After Gaga’s antics at the VMA’s, I cringe to think what she’d do on tour. Adam would so get caught up in it and maybe later in his career he could get away with it, but he’s just starting out and needs to establish himself before he starts doing that and getting labelled as freakish like Gaga.

Were tickets really $160 for the Kanye tour??? Holy crap! There’s no way I’d pay that any more for anyone, not even Adam.

How sad. Lady Gaga just made it to S-N-L and it was starring w/Madonna. I found this website by a girl named Aisha which has long lists and photo comparisons that portray Madonna as a plagiarist and con-artist, people are so mean and materialistic, Madonna’s not a capitalistic wanna-be or entertainment tyrant-she’s a mother of Christ or I mean the messiah, anyway its all confusing, I’m better off not saying anything more about this controversial subject matter. I guess though Lady Gaga gets booed off stage every once in awhile, maybe she shouldn’t perform live for people who understand music and art- she should stick to the New Kids On The Block fans and nursing homes she started playing at before MTV. Anyway- that mean old Kayne doesn’t like ‘gays’ , he would have been uncomfortable with Gaga’s new fan base. We need to be nice, these are commerical success stories here.
