Jordin Sparks – National Anthem – NBA All Star Game – VIDEO

Jordin Sparks sang the National Anthem before the NBA All Star game in Phoenix AZ today. Why yes, she did just sing the anthem–during the NFL playoffs. By now, she knows the drill.

Check out today’s rendition of the anthem, after the JUMP…

    awesome.

You go girl! I know many don’t like all of the acrobatics, but sometimes it just works. Another thing idol can be proud of, their alumni don’t be half-steppin’. They can sing!

Jordin is a pretty girl with a great voice and a bubbly personality. I liked her on idol al ot. But the thing is, she kinda bores me to tears. I don’t know what it is, but I’m never interested in a single thing this girl does. I was watching her sing the anthem out of boredom (and homework avoidance – lol) and my mind still kept wandering. Jordin, I wish you well, but please get interesting someday, okay?

That said, her hair looks really nice like that. And that was my attempt to end this on a positive note.

  • Llamakhan

That was okay, but nothing compared to JHud. I totally agree that she kind of bores me. She seems sweet, but I’ve never gotten into anything she has ever done.

Kind of hard to compare with JHud. First, JHud was pre-recorded meaning her voice was going to sound perfect. And second, JHud’s was set to this big patriotic musical extravaganza. It was perfectly staged for emotional impact.

Jordin did great. She’s a total pro at the anthem now.

Jordin did a good job. Recorded or not (Grammy performances), JHud is fanatstic – unlike Fantasia, IMO.

  • SallyinIllinois

    Is she going country?

I don’t recall Fantasia being asked to Sing or singing the NA at any events.

    edit: don’t lecture posters.

Jordin does such a great job with the Anthem . she has a way of making it her own and i love the way she ends it. i dont uderstand how anyone can find her boring. she is not only one of the most beautiful Idol singers.she has such an amazing voice and has a great personality . I always enjoy her interviews since she always seems to be so excited about all the things that winning Idol has lead her to be able to do.

Excuse me, but Jordin song the wrong word……”Or the land of the free” instead of “FOR the land of the free”! Did anyone else catch that?! I wasn’t impressed.

  • Allen

    Excuse me, but Jordin song the wrong wordà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Or the land of the freeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ instead of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“FOR the land of the freeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ !

Nope, or is right. Or rather, O’er is right.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

    Fine job by Jordin.

Since Phoenix, my beloved home, seems to be getting so many impressive national events lately it isn’t any wonder that a Phoenician is getting all the NA gigs. Besides, Jordin always does a lovely job, has such poise in front of a camera, and represents her hometown very well.

I, personally, love the fact that “nice people” are being rewarded for their hard work and tenacity. Jordin will never fit into the “Pop Princess, paparazzi made, egomaniacs” that so prevade the world of female pop musicians. She isn’t (bless her for this) an emaciated size 0, doesn’t get drunk or high in public, keeps her home life at home, doesn’t hang with a questionable crowd…you know all the stuff that attracks attention and makes them not-boring.

Shine on Jordin, hope you have a long and fruitful career, and we in Phoenix think the world of one of our favorite daughters.

All of the idol winners have done the national anthem at sporting events. Fantasia is not the exception, though I do not know why she was bought into this topic as the topic was Jordin who I reiterate did a wonderful job. Fantasia performed at the NLCS or ALCS the year she won. Some loved it, some hated it, pretty much as it should be. Fantasia does many things that may be missed on this blog. For the record, same with Ruben, just to cover the bases. In fact he sang the SBB at a recent NBA basketball game, iirc. He too does a wonderful job. No one idol owns the national anthem. I think it belongs to us all, even those of us who mouth it, or botch it.

NIce version, but she would look so much better if she lost 20 pounds!

  • J.S.G.

Jordin survived a duet with Chris Brown, including a video shoot when they had to be in the same room together. That speaks to her durability.

And she sang that version of SSB acappela. In addition, there was no instumental accompaniment. And she stayed right on key, like she always does.

I guess for some she is boring, but for me she is the Idol grad with the most potential. We forget she is only 18 years old (hehe).

Yep, it would make her sound so much better…….*sigh*

She’s a beautiful shapely young lady.

  • savgal

Personally, I think that Jordin could break Chris Brown in half. And if Jordin’s NFL dad got ahold of him, there would be nothing left. Maybe he should take Chris aside for a little talk on how to treat women…

Jordin IS sweet, talented, pretty, and wholesome. A combination of qualities that can either inspire fans or bore others to tears. I can see where the lack of ‘controversy’ or not having a big personality can possibly hurt her career later (you need something to stand out in this business) but I hope that her talent is enough to let her stick around her for a while.

  • tinawina

Yeah, ok. I don’t find her boring because she’s “wholesome”, or nice, or not Britney Spears. I find her boring because she sings cute but generic songs and her voice is pretty but not necessarily distinctive or different to me. She also has nothing to say that I find even remotely interesting. You can be nice and have a little personality. The two are not mutually exclusive. Sheesh.

ETA: Case in point would be my Season 7 favorite, Brooke White. Even when you take out the emotional breakdowns, you have pretty interesting person IMO … neo-flower child/mormon, insanely chatty, and most importantly, a very distinctive voice and great ability to project emotion in songs. It’s all opinion of course, but Brooke seems way more compelling a person to me.

  • poporange

I agree tinawina on her statement and I find Jordans personality is a little bubbly” at times cutsey .Jordan the NA it was not bad or great .

  • ilovetohateai

at least its not david cook. remember his NBA NA performance? oh boy, that was a complete disaster.
