Jordin Sparks Joining the Cast of “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete”?

I’m erring on the side of caution and filing this but of news under RUMOR but according to IMDb, Jordin Sparks has joined the cast of the upcoming movie, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete.

Jennifer Hudson, who has already been announced as part of the cast, plays the drug addicted mother of a young Brooklyn boy named Mister who is forced to fend for himself after she is arrested.

Jordin is listed on IMDb, as playing a character named “Alice,”  but no other information has been made available. The Season 6 Idol winner told entertainment reporter, Kevin Frazier last month that she had a new movie later this year.

And actor, Julito McCullum announced on twitter today, “Im Officially Signed On To Be In The New Film, “The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister and Pete” Starring Jennifer Hudson & Jordin Sparks!”

The movie’s status is listed as in “pre-production”

We’ll see!

    Nice gig for Jordin.

    But is she going to focus on an acting career now? I haven’t heard anything in a long time about when her next album might be coming out.

    Congrats Jordin!

    imdb PRO is usually very reliable, only insiders can edit it.

    Apparently she is recording material for her third album right now, but who knows when RCA plans on releasing that. (She is on their roster now, via the RCA Records website.)

    Looking forward to Sparkle on August 17th!

    Jennifer talked about this last year.  She said she was doing two movies, Winnie and Mister.  This movie is allegedly produced by Alicia Keys.  But I believe it’s an HBO or cable movie.  I might be wrong.

    So excited for Jordin . A month from tomorrow Sparkle is released and now this.  Also a big fan of Jennifer so i am double excited if they are in a movie together.

     I think Jordin is on RCA due to her affiliation with the movie, Sparkle.  I know that Clive Davis at one time was president of RCA/J Records, I wonder if he signed her?

    I wouldn’t be surprised. I think acting tends to be more lucrative than music. It’s why you have people like Justin Timberlake and Miley focus on that.

     Jordin is on RCA because her previous label Jive ceased to exist. Several other Jive artists also ended up on RCA .

    I’m pretty RCA/ and EPIC took over for the Jive Artist when Jive folded. Jordin ended up on the RCA side of the shift. I’m sure the movie ignited enough interest for them to keep her on the roster. Either way, she is recording her 3rd album right now for RCA… hopefully it will be released sometime this year.

    Looks like the female winners of Idol continue to have bright careers. :)

    Love Jordin. Always have and always will. She completely made me a super fan the night she sang I Who Have Nothing.

    From that point on I knew she would go on to achieve great things, be it in acting, music, etc.

    Jordin wasn’t my favorite from Season 6, but I always felt she was a lovely, sweet young woman.  She won me over when she was invited to the White House (President Obama) for the Motown Tribute.  There was such joy in her singing and I loved that!

    Yep, the American Idol Girl Winners are having so much success in their careers!  That may be a good message to the producers for Season 12.  How great to have Jennifer and Jordin appear in a movie together!

    To survive in this business and make money you have to have multi-channels.  Look at Beyonce:  TV  movies, endorsements, touring, records.  You can’t just be a recording singing star anymore.  I was just reading in the Village Voice that record sales are down.  Singers like Chris Brown and Usher aren’t selling like they used to sell.  So these guys have their hands in all types of ventures.

    That’s right.  The key to survival in show-biz is diversity and being able to sell yourself in the stuff you do.  The jury’s out on Jordin’s acting ability. She didn’t get the greatest reviews about her acting ability when she was on Broadway. We’ll find out soon enough, but those who hang their future soley on selling their next record to radio will hit a brick wall sooner than later, it seems …. esp if you come from Idol.
