Here’s a 2 minute clip of a duet between Season 1 Australian Idol Guy Sebastian and Season 6 Idol Jordin Sparks. The song, an R&B ballad, is called “Art of Love” and will appear on Guy’s Like it Like That album set to be released in Australia on October 23 and in the US early 2012.

Some of you might remember Guy when he performed on American Idol during Season 3.

The song is like the zillion ballady R&B adult contemporary tunes I’ve heard over the years. Nothing here that would jump out at me on my radio. What do you think?

Guy’s album will actually hopefully be out in the US in early 2010. i love the song though then again i like r&b ballads. I was actually rooting for Guy during World Idol when they did that several years ago and Jordin during her season so i was very happy to hear of this duet. i hope it is a single though there is no official word on if it will be.

Eh…nothing special. I couldn’t even make it all the way through, it was that boring to me.

I thought the trend of vocoders was fading? I think you’re right that it’s generic, but I don’t know if that will stop it from becoming a hit.

Somebody will buy it, but it won’t be me. The song is boring and Jordin and this guy together is boring.

I like this song even though it seems a little bit dated. Not great, but enough to download and listen couple of times. Good luck for both!

I like Guy and I dislike Jordin…so all in all I’m pretty meh about the song. Yes, it sounds like a billion r&b ballads on top-40 radio right now…gosh, I really hate that sound too. I’m maybe showing my age, but it barely sounds like music to me…more like whiny/pretty vocals against a drum machine.

    Doesn’t grab me.

Unlike Guy’s new single Like It Like That which is really great, catchy fun.

MEH. Big Guy Sebastian fan, however. I knew nothing about him till Nessa from Twitter (a big Adam fan) got me into him. (It doesn’t help that I don’t like Jordin’s voice and never have).

ETA: I agree completely, 4mula1 That song is SO catchy, and the video is really fun. I will probably download the song. This year’s Aussie Idol, which I watch via youtube, is pretty bad; it makes American Idol look 100x better than it is. I can only see one or two of the top 10 even making Idol’s Top 36.

Truly boring … I find Jordin to be very, very dull.

Damn, you can’t buy Guy’s single in the states. Oh, well.

  • bridgette12

    Amen to that!

Truly boring ‘ ¦ I find Jordin to be very, very dull.

Ditto that. Jordin’s like a negative ten on the charisma-meter.

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard Guy before. He’s got a nice voice. Hopefully, on his own album, he gets better songs than this lame tune.

The song itself is very formulaic and lyrics were extra cheesy…you got to spread it….really cheesy. But those two have good voices that blend well together so it’s okay…a lot better then the one posted by JC and the leak from MJ(from TMZ).

Yes, I do find that overproduced, over-synthesized music is on its way out…or at least for me it is.

^I don’t think they used a vocoder here…those two can really sing…it’s just that they used too much computer-assisted music/synthesizers–much like every other single out there.

I long for those songs where you can actually hear the strings, the percussions, the horns….you know real instruments played by real musicians…not from a computer.

jga94 are you confusing a vocoder with auto-tune? There was a definite vocoder at least at first. I couldn’t listen to the entire thing so don’t know if it was continued. No voice can do that synthetic sound. There was also a deep voice at first where I was looking for a popup talking. Couldn’t even imagine it was part of the song. WTF was that? Is that normal for this “genre” of music? To me, that was just so wrong that I had a difficult time even listening to the rest. Nobody else mentioned it so I’m guessing it’s just me.

I heard the snippet and loved it
    their voices blend together perfectly
looking forward to hearing the finished song
when its released on guys album

So true. You know, I am not a fan of Jordin, but I will say she has a nice voice. I think that electronic-ization (or whatever it is) they do to her voice (and so many others) is almost disrespectful. It makes all these songs and all these voices sound the same.
