We are STILL catching up with all the music that was released around the time of the Idol finale. On April 6, season 14 alum Joey Cook released a music video for a new song, the self-penned “Bones.” It also features a cameo from her BFF Quentin Alexander on backup vocals.

“We call it the Quentin Choir,” Joey said recently to the Daily Press, “because we had him harmonize with himself like 10 times in a row.”

The singer pushes the envelope, creating a video that could have been released on November 1, the day of the dead. The evocative New Orleans backdrop is appropriately spooky, creating an unsettling vibe as Joey walks ghostly streets in elaborate skeleton makeup.

The swampy new song is from the singer’s upcoming album, The Variety Show, recorded in New Orleans, using musicians from The Dharma Initiative and Mammoth Indigo as her backing band. The nine-song album will be available next month.
