3rd Update:Â   From the Los Angeles Times:

A source close to the show now tells us that Pacitti was disqualified to “avoid the appearance of impropriety.”

In the past week, tabloids had been reporting on a private relationship between Pacitti and executives of 19 Management – one of the companies which oversees “Idol.”

Her previous ties to 19M are probably why she was disqualified..

2nd Update:

Joanna Pacitti, the American Idol season 8 hopeful who was shown advancing to the top 36 on Wednesday night’s telecast, has been booted from the competition and replaced by   26-year-old Felicia Barton. “It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition,” stated a Fox press release sent early Thursday morning announcing the show’s full roster of semifinalists.

HOLY CRAP! Could it be Joanna’s ties to 19Management executives Michelle Young and Roger Widynowski are to blame?

UPDATE:Â   Felicia is also listed instead of Joanna on the American Idol website, HERE.

Developing: Michael Slezak just gave me the heads up on this breaking story from EW:

Joanna Pacitti, the American Idol season 8 hopeful who’s been dogged by rumors of a close relationship with a pair of 19 Entertainment executives as well as a previous deal with A&M records, was not listed as one of the show’s 36 semifinalists in a press release sent by the Fox publicity department earlier tonight. This, despite the fact that tonight’s Idol telecast showed Pacitti advancing to the viewer-controlled voting portion of the competition. Stranger still, the name of Felicia Barton, who was shown getting eliminated by the judges during Wednesday night’s final Hollywood Week telecast, was included in Fox’s Top 36 announcement.

I just noticed felicia on americanidol.com’s top 36 page as well!

    http://www.americanidol.com/top_36

I already started looking around to see if there was anything out there about this being a mistake.

  • seattle_girl

If this is true….Hallelujah! Please please please be true. But how beeezarre.

  • hardkandy

well definitely joanna did not deserve to get in after that mumbling thing. but they didn’t show how felicia did in hollywood at all so i can’t say she deserves to get in either. can’t they just bring back leneshe young and make me happy?
this is definitely very weird if it turns out to be true.

From Anoop and Joanna’s Top 36 video http://www.americanidol.com/videos/season_8/top_36/anoop_desai_and_joanna_pacitti

Anoop Desai opens up about his emotional reason for auditioning but, by the end, he and Joanna Pacitti (who it was determined ineligible to continue in the competition) share their best animal noises!

Did she get another record deal or something?

  • seattle_girl

Oh that’s right, Joanna was the one who totally botched every H’wood song, right? Never should have made it through based on that. But I’m sure it’s the connections that made them think twice and not the performances.

  • hardkandy

i kinda do feel a little bad for joanna pacitti if this is true though…couldn’t they have determined her ineligibility without making her go through all these hoops? i mean, what’s the deal? why did they wait this long? even if i don’t like joanna, they’re stomping all over a person’s emotions. not cool at all.

  • CRB

It isn’t a typo, she is gone. I liked her audition but perhaps something in that Star report last week was “news” to the Idol people. I mean, I find that very hard to believe but…who knows?

  • mpl009

Apparently Felicia did awesome in Hollywood and even got a standing ovation from the judges !!! This is an amazing news, she will go far !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ComeBack2Me

Wow. I didn’t see that one coming. I thought you were allowed to be a part of the show provided you didn’t have a record deal at the time of your audition. What happened? I’m glad Felicia was the one they chose to replace her.

  • hardkandy

Wow so it’s really true… this is definitely huge and weird news. I don’t know how I feel about this. I am happy for Felicia but I feel bad for Joanna. They brought her this far only to bring her all the way back down.

But maybe Joanna didn’t disclose some other information about her music connections? Well I hope we get more details on this soon.

Heh, who thinks Joanna and her mom might sue the producers now? This is definitely bigger than the Annie debacle.

  • Joanna S.

Joanna was disqualified…really??? *spazzes* OMG, I am seriously LMAO! This. Is. So. Freaking. AWESOME. CONGRATULATIONS, FELICIA! Oh, man…one of the biggest reasons I didn’t think Joanna should be on the show was because of her ties to people in 19 Entertainment. Too much conflict of interest. But even I’m shocked about this. I’m not going to complain, though. Having listened to both Joanna and Felicia’s music, Felicia is better IMO. Good call, PTB!

  • Jolene

I’m betting it’s because of her connection to Michelle Young and Roger Widynowski. If she would’ve moved on to Top 12, that thing was going to explode.

I don’t know what’s their position on 19M, but I’ve seen Roger around Cook many times since he’s signed with them. I think he’s DC’s publicist? It’s a definite conflict of interest if Joanna is already friends with insiders from the management team that’s going to represent the winner.

    From
    http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/american-idol-disqualifies-joanna-pacitti-from-eighth-season-competition-8428.php

Fox’s statement didn’t specify why Pacitti was deemed to be ineligible and a network spokesperson was not immediately reachable for comment. However last week, Star magazine had reported that Pacitti — who had already previously made headlines for her significant previous recording industry experience, which included a 2006 debut album with Geffen Records — allegedly had “connections” to two executives at American Idol’s 19 Entertainment production company,

According to Star, Pacitti had “very personal connections” to Michelle Young and Roger Widynowski, two executives that work in 19 Entertainment’s Los Angeles office. In addition to living in the same apartment complex as the 19 Entertainment executives for several years, Pacitti had also allegedly called Young her “manager” and “best friend” and credited Widynowski with “helping me get where I am today,” according to the tabloid report.

  • Tony

THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!! I now have a reason to actually care about this show now.

Never really cared about Mc. Planty one way or another (other than the fact that she was your typical plant) but I am absolutely THRILLED…..THRILLED that Felicia is in. :jittery_tb: :clap_tb:

In a strange bit of everything old is new again. it’s as if history repeats itself for Pacitti. Out of ANNIE at the last moment. Out of AI at the last moment. Hhhm.

I hope she has a good therapist.

  • dcisluv

Yikes! People really hated her. I feel a little bad for her. But she wasn’t my favorite either.

  • hardkandy

I hope she has a good therapist.

Yeah. I’m not a fan (in fact I really didn’t want her to get through) but I really can’t be too happy with this news. I can only imagine how she feels at this moment.

  • http://widyatarina.wordpress.com widz

    The Press Release:
    http://www.americanidol.com/news/view/pid/1564

It’s gonna be a media frenzy tomorrow with the announcement of TOP 36 plus Joanna scandal 2.0

  • Niall

I’m thrilled Pacitti has been disqualified but why did it take them this long? Are we really supposed to believe they didn’t know about her relationship with those people? Or how about the fact that one of the judges (Kara) wrote songs for the Ballas Hough Band? Nice to know that it “only” took news reports to make them even the playing field.

I’m not worried about her. She would have been hated on the show but by being disqualified she instantly gets the opposite reaction -sympathy-and the ensuing publicity will be good for her career, maybe better than AI which she had no hope of winning anyway.

  • Natasha

I wonder why they just now decided she’s ineligible? What changed between whenever the top 36 stuff was filmed and tonight?

  • BlankSlate

MJ– Did I post something I should not have? Edit me out if need be. Would not want to cross the rules here. Love your blog so much.

  • jimmyboyd2

Are you guys really kidding or just pretending to be this surprised.

This was a SETUP all along. They’ve known all about her from the beginning. They delayed this to run it as a publicity stunt. Good one, Idol.

And don’t be so sure Joanna wasn’t in on it. Yeah, someone that experienced forgets the lyrics to every song. She miraculoously gets through anyway, only to be disqualified by old information they knew about all along.

  • BlankSlate

Agreed Niall: It is unconscionable that they would take this action TONIGHT. The top 36 have been selected since DECEMBER and NOW they are deciding to take her off the show? Not fair to Felicia Barton either, actually.

With the millions they make working for this show, would it be too much to ask to hire SOMEONE with an IQ?

    ;>

  • http://www.youtube.com/thenovicepianist TNP

I did love Joanna, but I LOVED Felicia as well and if I had to pick anyone to replace Joanna, it would be her. Though I am extremely disappointed that we won’t see more of Joanna.

  • BlankSlate

No way would someone like Pacitti take the fall and flub and fail on PURPOSE. This girl was suing (via her parents, of course) a Broadway producer before she was 14 yrs old. Paciitti is way too in deep with the business end to deliberately be the sucker punch contestant. Quite the opposite. Her screen cap listed her as “umemployed.” That one made me laugh. She was hiding as best as she could all the professional ties she has. She may be technically unemployed but it’s not as if she was pulled off the streets of Philly, opened her mouth for the AI producers and let beautiful notes fall out of her mouth.

  • hypertwink

Things like this just diminishes American Idol a little bit more every time. I think that when once this was a Reality Show COMPETITION, now it’s more REALITY SHOW competition. And what a way to make the changes so dramatic.

I agree that they could have taken her out and then put out a PR whatever to say that she was taken out but they had to put her front and center. If they wanted publicity then they have it. I just think that it’s the wrong sort of publicity that they want to attract…but then again, Idol’s like an aging diva who can do what she wants and probably not suffer much. Also, I guess that since it’s almost at its end, right? Simon wants to leave, so does Paula, etc. Maybe, this is what 19 wants. Since they already have legitimate stars in Daughtry, Kelly and Carrie, with Jordin and the two Davids in the cusp of superstardom, maybe, they’ll just embrace what they have been devolving into since Season 5. Forget the legitimacy and bring on the drama.

  • geekygirl

Wow, news of the day! lol. I am having trouble following the timeline here, but I think I am understanding an article in the paper revealing her relationship was the catalyst for all this?

I watched a show recapping the idol seasons over the weekend and they were doing the season with Clay et al, season 2? Anyway, they rehashed the Frenchie story and she says that she had told AI about the photos and they chose to overlook it. It was only when they became public on the internet that they booted her out. So I am sure TPTB knew about this but as long as it was kept under wraps they let it pass. When the cat was let out of the bag they knew they had to act.

I had no opinion of this girl’s singing, didn’t see her enough or even remember anything special about her. I thought the same thing as above, hope she has a good therapist! The only thing that could have made this better for me was if Leneshe had been put back in. From the bits I saw of her, she never put a foot wrong and I thought she was a breath of fresh air. Maybe she was in competition with Jasmine but we had two youngsters in Lisa and Paris competing for votes so I don’t think it was that big a problem.

  • Grammie Kari

jimmyboyd2, I am with you on this issue. However, what if Joanna did a fantastic job and left a lasting impression? She has been given thousands of dollars of ad time. Unfortunately, the plan backfired. {sic} Who will remember Joanna two weeks from now. Would you go out and purchase her album?

I am so happy for Felicia Barton!

  • Trina

Picture of Joanna with Michelle Young from the A&M days

  • miknge

Wow! I’m so happy!!! I’ve decided not to get too invested in a contestant this season ever since I found out that Felicia is out, but now looks like I have to get invested in all over again!! woohoo!!!!

  • St.Lucia

    Oh Happy Day!!!

I hate to say I don’t feel the least bit bad for Joplanta, because I’m sorry she knew what she was doing along with the rest of them. I think this has been planned all along. I still don’t think I’ll ever hear anything from Joplanta again in mainstream music.

Oh but man am I excited for Felicia Barton! I’ve always thought she was fantastic and her getting kicked off last night was difficult for me to watch because I did like her so and even she looked surprised.

I just think its all very wrong how this was handled. A good publicity stunt to bring up ratings gives no excuse of toying with people’s feelings and I feel pretty sure that is exactly what happened.

How could they NOT know about Joanna?

  • J.S.G.

There is probably a lot more about his Joanna story than meets the eye, and I for one could never understand how she kept advancing because as a vocalist she is rather ordinary.

Except now we know. She had connections at the top. Which makes Simon, Paula, Tara, and Randy seem liked nothing more than puppets of 19M given their phony reactions to Joanna’s performances.

Loved the stoic manner in which Felicia acted when told she didn’t make it. And when I saw she had a child and husband/boyfriend, I thought Felicia is too well grounded for American Idol.

Next story i am hoping will break is – Tatianna is an actress who is hired by 19M to act like a complete idiot on the show in order to boost ratings. How else could anyone explain that behavoiur?

  • SallyinIllinois

This COULD very well destroy AI’s credibility. Because Joanna flubbed the lyrics TWICE! and she was asked by Kara “when will you be ready” which was a legit question (which I asked too), and they passed her on. You know the producers were behind this.

  • anijsch

i kinda do feel a little bad for joanna pacitti if this is true thoughà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦couldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t they have determined her ineligibility without making her go through all these hoops?

I don’t feel bad for her, because it seems she only got so far because of her connections and if it would work out on a regular way Felicia would have been in the Top 36.

I wonder if the reason they don’t show anything of Felicia until now, has been that she was too good.

This was a SETUP all along. Theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve known all about her from the beginning. They delayed this to run it as a publicity stunt. Good one, Idol.

Of course they know, but I am not sure the really want it to be published. I think expect some backslash from her past and that she would not win, but imo they would like her to have some Top 12 time which would push her past Idol career.

  • Joanna S.

I am LMAO at some of the comments I’m seeing at the IDF boards. Some of Joanna’s fans are acting like she was the only good female singer who had a chance to beat any of the guys. I really cannot believe that people actually think she could have won this thing. If a girl were going to win this year (which I don’t think will happen) it sure as hell wouldn’t have been Joanna. At least now a Wild Card spot won’t be wasted on her.

  • MaryS-NJ

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m thrilled Pacitti has been disqualified but why did it take them this long?

That’s what I’d like to know. Maybe the conspiracy theorists are right and the PTB waited until now in order to salvage Joanna’s reputation after months are negative press about her connections. This is when they’ll get the biggest publicity bang for the buck. It keeps people talking about American Idol, makes AI look like it’s playing “fair” and builds some sympathy for a ringer who was otherwise resented. She may get a record deal out of it. I mean, why not? The PTB could say – ‘Joanna couldn’t be on the show but she’s SO good that we just had to sign her anyway.’

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Omgomgomg!!! Seriously?!?!? Yay!!!!! This just seriously made my day!!

She’s probably already at a disadvantage b/c we’ve only heard what, like 5 seconds of her singing but I know that *I* will vote my ass off for her!!

  • hardkandy

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t feel bad for her, because it seems she only got so far because of her connections and if it would work out on a regular way Felicia would have been in the Top 36.

Yeah but even so, they could have not dragged this out for so long. But like I said, maybe it’s Joanna’s fault… maybe she did not disclose some information to the producers. But if AI already knew about it and just decided to do this now for controversy, then this is definitely a whole new low for them.

  • Kirsten

This was a SETUP all along. Theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve known all about her from the beginning. They delayed this to run it as a publicity stunt. Good one, Idol.

I have to agree. This entire thing sounds fishy. With the amount of vetting that the producers on Idol do, I cannot believe they didn’t already know that Joanna was associated with those people from 19M. VFTW and various others are blood hounds with the tenacity of pitt bulls (and I mean that as a compliment). If they hadn’t done it already, they would have soon uncovered the 19M linkage story and trumpeted it on the internet (and maybe they already did. I haven’t been following this story). No way 19 would have thought they could keep it a secret. Besides, they aren’t a game show, so they can set whatever eligibility rules they like.

Simon said way back last year when he was made one of the producers of the show that he was planning to ensure that this year featured more “controversy”. Sounds like his plans are working.

19 has no doubt noticed that some of the early booted get a lot of press (e.g. Frenchie and Josiah), so I wouldn’t put it above them thinking this was a win-win situation. The controversy gets splashed across the news agencies so AI gets lots of press (free advertising! People will tune in to see what the fuss is all about). Joanna gets to do the rounds of media interviews and be higher profile than if she got booted at 7th or 8th (especially if that’s where people think she deserved to get booted). Some will sorry for her repeating her “Annie” story. The producers don’t mind playing the villian. Sony steps in (or maybe some sub-label to make it look it’s some indie deal) to save the day and rectify all wrongs (white knights!) to “FINALLY give Joanna a chance after all these years of her being jerked around by producers”. Felicia gets a much higher profile and becomes a hero for the outraged fans and goes much further in the competition. Fans are thrilled because the producers shennigans were foiled; their efforts keep the show honest and pure were successful.

Producers win. Joanna wins. Felicia wins. Fans win. That’s the kind of math Simon/19 likes.

Me? Cynical? Why, yes, I am.

  • primeminister

    FELICIA BARTONNNNNN!!!!!

I was thinking that there was NO WAY Felicia crashed and burned during Hollywood week. “Love Song” was obviously on the short list of songs to sing, and as we can see from Felicia’s pre-Idol videos, she absolutely kills on that song.

Season 8 has just taken a turn for the better. WOOOHOOO!!! I am now getting ready to vote my butt off for her.

Now all the need to do is bring back Lenesha Young, then I’ll be one happy camper. :clap_tb:

  • hypertwink

I can’t believe so much ink is being wasted on this woman. Is she that special, that when she sings virgins become impregnated?! Nothing about her is all that remarkable.

  • abbysee

    We’ve been had! LOL!

She was toast weeks ago. She certainly could not have made the top 12 and the viewers not storm the mansion with torches demanding redress.

This Felicia Barton better be incredible though she certainly is going to be in the spotlight as the one who replaced Joplanta.

  • hardkandy

I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe so much ink is being wasted on this woman. Is she that special, that when she sings virgins become impregnated?! Nothing about her is all that remarkable.

    LOLOLOLOL until forever.

But seriously, IASFM! She’s not that special. Her voice is generic. She’s just BLAH.

Oh thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s right, Joanna was the one who totally botched every Hà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢wood song, right? Never should have made it through based on that. But Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m sure ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the connections that made them think twice and not the performances.

I’m undecided on what I believe happened here. It seems pretty plausible that this whole thing was set up from the beginning. But, also, I think it’s just as likely that the producers were like f*#k it – we’re keeping her in regardless. UNTIL – she sucked it up so bad in Hollywood that they had no choice but to cut her loose.

  • folk

    awesome.

    this season rocks.

pure entertainment. i need norman on tour…and then he needs his own comedy show:)

my guess is they are setting up a felicia “amazes the world” in top 36 moment…since no one has heard her (technically).

Oh, do not even say such things. Having the Danny and his glasses and his dead wife show is bad enough. I don’t want them to add the best buddy element back in LOL.

  • leome

    This is so suspicious.
I’m thinking they knew all along but played it so Joanna would get screen time and somehow become famous among the audience. that’s the way I see it.
And doesn’t seem a bad deal for Felicia too. She’ll be the girl who has the second chance, people will remember.
American Idol always playing and manipulating.

  • Lexus

While I feel badly for Joanna, fair is fair and she should never have been put through in the first place the first time she forgot her lyrics, not to mention the second time. Others were let go for much less. She’s already had several opportunities and it surprised me she wasn’t better prepared for the pressure. That said, it’s obvious to me that her confidence is wavering.

I’d be fairly content with the top 36 if Jamar were in and Tatiana were out. IMO Jamar earned a spot in the top 36. Norman, for example, did not. Drama wins again!

I don’t like the set up to determine the top 12, but I’m over it. My favorite is Adam by a mile so as long as he’s in, I’m over the moon.

  • http://stores.ebay.com/BookWomanBlues-Book-Nook Bobbi

This is good news for the show. They don’t need those kinds of questions. I just hope they do a piece on Felicia to introduce her to the viewers because she has had virtually no air time. Would love to see her Hollywood week footage!

  • leome

^ She still has more air time than some people who made the top 36

I am happy Felicia is in the top 36 but not surprised by how American Idol seemed to use Joanna for pr stunt to create buzz.(high profile fodder?)Which if it did worked . I mean really they suddenly found out about the connection?Yeah right AI like they did not know , way to go down that slippery sloap.

Hardcandy- it does feel like De je vu for Joana and I do feel sort of bad for her.

Move over, I’m joining you both. Really, she went from villain to victim with this move. Same thing happened with the Osmond kid….it went from “An Osmond? Competing? So unfair….” to “Oh, he was booted for laryngitis? How unfair…” This season might be the knolliest season yet. *rushes off to find tinfoil hat*

  • MrsTrep

I am thinking Joanna will end up with a deal and 19M, her buddies, just used AI to give her the notariety she needed for success! She has been in the media SO much that she will find success….

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. It’s going to be like the guy who quit Season 4–Mario Vazquez (although, when he was sued later for sexual harassment, I figured he was pushed). He quit, got a deal with 19, and released a record that flopped. That’ll probably be Joanna’s career trajectory, except it’ll be a lather-rinse-repeat kinda deal.

TPTB at Idol surely new of her connections and thought they’d get away with it. When it looked like the heat was too strong, they decided “nevermind”.

I don’t think it’s some plot hatched from way back, but I do think they’ve been planning to drop her, probably since the Star story broke. Instead of ditching her immediately, they timed it for maximum PR effect.

It’s pretty much the same ole same ole for Idol.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

    Also:

There’s nothing fishy about Joanna sucking in Hollywood. The producers rountinely put people through who spend Hollywood week stinking up the joint. Sometimes, they’ll just hide that contestant for the duration, other times they might show the contestant’s failures. That’s why the whole David Osmond laryngitis deal was meaningless. It wouldn’t have mattered if TPTB had wanted him to progress.

Now, why they chose to edit Joanna as a Hollywood fuck up, I don’t know. Last night, I figured it was part of a long redemption story arc for Joanna, although I thought it made her look bad.

Interesting news to wake up to. I have to believe they knew full well of her connections and they either a) believed they could get away with it or b) planned to drop her all along and the entire thing was a PR stunt.

Either way, I’m glad she’s out and Felicia is in.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with her now.

  • snuffles

It’s her connections to 2 highly placed executives at 19E that got her disqualified. And I don’t believe for a minute the show did NOT know about it. They probably hand picked her.

BUT, when evidence of that connection leaked out to the press (with pictures and all)last week, the show couldn’t hide it anymore and finally decided to boot her. I also have no doubt that if her connections had NOT been uncovered, the show would have forced her through into the Top 12.

Who wants to bet the Joanna will sue the show – just like with the whole Little Orphan Annie debacle.

Next story i am hoping will break is – Tatianna is an actress who is hired by 19M to act like a complete idiot on the show in order to boost ratings. How else could anyone explain that behavoiur?

Or she works undercover for another TV show, but I would put more money on Nick/Normund with this storyline.

  • miknge

well definitely joanna did not deserve to get in after that mumbling thing. but they didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t show how felicia did in hollywood at all so i canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t say she deserves to get in either. canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t they just bring back leneshe young and make me happy?
this is definitely very weird if it turns out to be true.

    :ohmy_tb: hardkandy!
You already have your absolute favourite in the form of Adam Lambert, now let me have my absolute favourite in the form of Felicia Barton. I was watching this season’s AI aimlessly and without a purpose, even thinking of voting with VFTW, so with this news, i feel so alive again! i have someone to root for and vote for again!

    still love yah, though! *hugs*

  • itsalleternal

I’m really happy about this. JoPlanta was obviously too planty for the rules. Now one of my favorites is avenged!

Hopefully Tatiana is next to get the boot (she deserves it for blatantly breaking the rules last week) and replaced by someone like Leneshe or Deanna (even though they weren’t even in the top 50 – within the top 50, Angela Martin or Frankie Jordan would be my first picks).

    hardkandy

Hey Mel! *waves* I need to hear Felicia perform yet before I get on the bandwagon haha. I didn’t catch her youtube performances before they were taken down so I don’t really know much about her.
I’m happy for Felicia though, I know a lot of people here like her. And i do like her over Joanna so I am not bummed by this news at all!

  • miknge

hardkandy, there is one youtube video of her performing No One by Alicia Keys. Just type her name in the searchbox and you’ll find it easily :D

  • miknge

sorry for double post, but there’s also another one of her singing Colbie Caillat’s Bubbly on the related video. it just popped out again suddenly :D

Ok I’ll check that out tomorrow…thanks for the heads up!

After honking about this more, I agree that they probably decided to drop her after the news of her 19M connections broke. However, how could they say anything before last night without spoiling that part of an upcoming show? If it truly was the case that they recently decided to drop her seeing that this link had been discovered, then the top 36 chair so was probably fnoshed of not close to it and why try to edit Joanna out? They wouldn’t have any footage to show of Felicia getting in so why not just leave it as is and then, as MJ said, put out the press release for max pr exposure? The timing makes complete sense to me.

Of course, it could have been planned from the beginning and I’m just a fool. I wouldn’t count that out. :)

Ugh. *Thinking, not honking LOL. Sorry for the double post. I can’t edit when I’m posting from my phone.

Didn’t they do something hinky with Sanjaya during the chairs episode? I may be totally remembering this wrong, but I seem to recall that Sanjaya was not one of the original Final 24 for Season 6. He had been cut, but was re-instated by the time the Chairs episode aired because I think one of the other contestants had gotten into trouble with the law. Yet, you couldn’t tell any of that from the chairs episode that aired (it only leaked out later).

In any event, Idol has featured duets with dead people and younger versions of people, I’m sure they could have faked something if they wanted. Shown a quick clip of Felicia looking happy and you are there. Crop the crap out of it and photoshop it a bit and nobody will know that it was from the auditions. They film those stupid Ford commercials on Sunday and have them ready to air on Wednesday (and a few of them have had some editing done to them), so faking a happy Felicia shouldn’t be a problem for them at all.

I still cannot believe that these dudes didn’t think that VFTW (or somebody) wouldn’t have found out about this 19M connection sooner or later (and having this exposed later would have actually been worse). 19 probably leaked the story themselves.

It looks like we were finally able to get the herbicide just in time…

  • schmanda

Whoa! I just heard about this on the radio. But I’m torn: this is half “OMG Christmas comes early!”, half “Who am I gonna bitch about now?”

Don’t think the uncloaking of the JoPlanta’s ficus-ness didn’t have anything to do with this. IOW, don’t go flyin’ in any small planes any time soon, MJ.

Sarah – funny – were you honking at someone just then?

  • KrazeeK120

I was starting to wonder what you meant Sarah…LOL.

Anyways. I am VERY excited that Felicia is in and I, for one, will be voting my little fingers off for her.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

LOL sumidol. Nope just typing on my phone and with the way it does auto-correct if I mess up typing, I guess I mistyped “thinking” and my auto-correct changed it to “honking.” LOL.

  • cookcricket

“I just hope they do a piece on Felicia to introduce her to the viewers because she has had virtually no air time.”

I don’t think this is going to hurt Felicia too much. Remember we had heard nary a word on Jason before the semi-finals last year and look how far he went. Perhaps this publicity will make people excited about hearing her too.

  • Easy

I think she got a raw deal.

Let the people decide if she belongs there or not.
