AMERICAN IDOL: Idol Finaist Jessica Sanchez performs during the season 11 AMERICAN IDOL GRAND FINALE at the Nokia Theatre on Weds. May 23, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. CR: Michael Becker/FOX

According to TV Line, Season 11 runner-up, Jessica Sanchez is nearing a deal for a multi-episode arc on Season 4.

Co- creator, Ryan Murphy has casted some American Idol rejects on his hit show Glee. Amber Riley (Mercedes) sang for American Idol producers when she was 16. Glee project winner, Samuel Larsen made it to Hollywood in Season 9. But an American Idol finalist has never been casted on Glee…until now.

There are no details yet available on what role Glee executive producer Ryan Murphy might have in store for the 16-year-old California native, but the plan would be to have her join the cast midway through the first half of Season 4, after she completes her duties on the Idols Live summer tour. Presumably, though, Sanchez’s character would in some capacity — either as part of McKinley High’s New Directions show choir or at the New York Academy for the Dramatic Arts where Rachel Berry is headed in the fall — compete for solos with the show’s existing and impressive stable of vocalists. In other words, if you love a diva-off (and who doesn’t?), Season 4 of Glee is about to get intense.

Congratulations Jessica! It looks like two worlds will soon be colliding, and my Glee posts are going to become much much busier next season!

My bet is that she becomes part of the choir room. She is only 16 and a YOUNG 16. I don’t think she’d pass as a college student. She could also be a member of one of the rival show choirs looking to unseat the Glee club’s supremacy in competition.  Kind of like Charice’s turn in Season 2 as a member of Vocal Adrenaline…  Her age will also keep her from putting in the long hours the rest of the cast does.   She’s still too young to be a full time cast member.

In any case, this is a really fantastic opportunity for Jessica. She’s got the perfect voice for Glee. With big voiced divas Lea Michele and Amber Riley leaving the show, that choir room will be seriously lacking in vocal prowess.

Fergie was also on the Mickey Mouse Club, with JT, Britney and Christina.  She is a bit older, so may have been on before them.  Not sure, as I am too old for that show.

I don’t think Fergie was on the Mickey Mouse Club. I’m pretty sure the show she was on was Kids Incorporated.  Jennifer Love Hewitt was on the show as well.

Ah, you’re right, sorry.  I double checked on Wikipedia.

I think this could be agreat move for Jessica.  Funny thing, I wrote the producers about having at least one Idol alum on Glee this coming year.  I had suggested Holly, but I think Jessica would work out great, too!  I really want her to succeed!

This is a great opportunity for Jessica! Congrats to her!

Big diff between a hunk like Drake or Justin and a Jessica….and Fergie didn’t start as a solo act and she was in her late 20s by the time she got measurable success, by then I think her kiddie show days were long behind her.

Pulling out all the urban acts who started on tweenie TV shows doesn’t automatically say that the same thing will happen for Jessica.

I just don’t think the girl has what it takes to be a fixture in the urban market and I don’t think little forays into pop culture shows will do much to “further” her career.  I will watch with interest to see if she can move on from her “interesting” start in the public consciousness….but I am not enamored with throwing everything at walls to see what sticks.

It’s not like Idol has been hitting it out of the park lately  with pop success. And Idol has even less urban cred than Glee so that show seems like a step up to me. ;0 At least she gets the opportunity to make new fans.

Nah, should be Blaine’s  cousin… Blaine, Tina and Jessica’s character clashing about who is more true to their Asian heritage or new USA identity or both.

Rachel has already said that she might have vaguely Eurasian looking babies with Blaine..(after Blaine and briefly dated Rachel)… so Blaine has Asian roots. (I guess inspired by the real life situation of Blaine’s actor).

But it does say that it’s not really a detriment.  I think Glee is a sloppily written excuse for sensationalism, but if Lauryn Hill could build a critically and commercially successful career after Sister Act 2, tweenie and cheesy doesn’t have to sink Sanchez.

I think I’m going to let her actually get through whatever the arc is before I’ll claim that it harms her career.

Jessica is only 16 years old… she is still testing the waters. Who knows what swagger she will have when she will be Joshua Ledet’s age (19).

Some people just pointed out that Kris Allen’s age NOW (winner of Season 8 American Idol (AI)) is the same age when Adam Lambert entered the AI competition of the same season.

I still remember the difference in poise between these two AI alumns during e.g. interviews. Kris Allen still had a long way to go… However look at Kris Allen now during interviews. Really great !
I know age should not matter but experience does.

I don’t see Jessica has having the personality or charisma for this to be any kind of game changer in her career.  A year from now, her claim to fame will still be a runner up from American Idol.

It’s the ultimate kiss of death whenever someone is proclaimed to be a huge breakout star.

I’m not seeing anyone saying Jessica is a huge breakout star.  Just that she’s getting some great opportunities right now.

And usually when the MEDIA starts making statements like that it’s usually based on significant buzz happening.  And so far, I haven’t seen that either.

Jessica is at the beginning of her career.  She’s getting some great opportunities to raise her profile.  These are only good things.

Congrats to Jessica! I’m not seeing the downside either. Another opportunity, more exposure and another pay day.

Never watched Glee but I am looking forward to this. I think Jessica will surprise people and do really well at acting.

She likes to say urban, but I think it’s really contemporary R&B… And no doubt she won’t be hurt by 4 episodes on Glee… I also guarantee that she will collaborate with a hip r&b’er and that will be all the cred she needs… Beyonce posted her AI performance of Sweet Dreams on her website, Jazmine Sullivan tweeted out high fives off Stuttering… This is exactly the lane she is going for and thus far she is getting kudos from people that are in it…

I think this is a great opportunity for her. I definitely think she will fit in quite nicely on Glee. The show loves divas with big voices. Best of luck to her.

This is another opportunity for Jessica to diversify her career and pick up more fans.  I knew she’s a focused girl who will keep her career going here and Asia.   she can make CD and also do shows and Broadway.  Jessica is my 2nd favorite after Deandre.  I can see Deandre doing Glee and Broadway too.

Omg you are so right! Darren Criss’ (Blaine) mother is also from the Philippines. waaaahhh! Now, I can’t wait to see Jessica on Glee!

Yeah, if MOUSEKETEERS can become icons, I doubt Glee will hurt Jessica’s career. That said, I’m not a Glee fan and I still don’t buy that Jessica will be an urban artist.

As many have speculated, it looks like Jessica is going the ‘Charice 2.0′ route.

” Beyonce posted her AI performance of Sweet Dreams on her website,”

I wasn’t aware of that. What a great endorsement!
