Jennifer Lopez has gotten a ton of mileage out of her AI gig.

Wow much better than On the Floor video. If this made it to number one or up on the charts I can see why. But umm what was w/ that dace break down section it totally didn’t fit. It was like they smashed to songs together just so random. As I was watching I actually thought it was a mistake for a second like someone was making a joke and edited two songs together.

The video was good and the guy I think it’s Lil Wayne was unnecessary. I think JLo is trying to get street cred but she don’t need it.

i didn’t watch the video and i didn’t check out Steven Tyler’s interview with Matt Lauer because the self-promo is a little sickening and i feel like a pawn in their game. to me, they changed the course of the competition by the shitty job they have been doing judging the contestants. if they were doing a decent job maybe this promo crap wouldn’t bug me so much but now it just feels like they took the gig for all the wrong reasons. they should both feel embarassed by their constant shameless plugs but i’m quite sure they do not.

(unfortunately i will be reading Steven’s book because the guy captivates me, damn it)

Of course it’s self promo. They’re celebrities, that’s what they do. Every celebrity does self promo.

chicaglow, I was thinking the same thing it’s almost like AI saved her career. As I clicked on the video I was actually reminiscing about Jlo before AI and the only thing I could recall was the her louboutins performance at an awards show. It was a debacle she became a joke b/c she slipped and fell after jumping off someone’s back I think she even tried to deny it was an accident saying she meant to do that. Anyway I saw that performance and was like this is just sad to me she came off as some trying to be young/ pop/ and current you know like recapture her youth. That was her big comeback and it literally and figuratively was more of a flop. But check her out now all these endorsement deals, number one singles, labeled most beautiful woman in the world. It’s just dramatic what’s happened to her good for her.

I’m curious if The Voice can do the same for Christina Aguilera her career had taken a nose dive as well out of the lime light for awhile not stellar sales. And a simply outlandish jaw dropping not in a good way come back single, i’m not myself tonight. Can we say trying waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard. Anyway so far looks like getting on a singing show is working for her too, everything seems positive.

Good for both of them i’ve liked most of their music besides a few poor ones. They’ve had kind of the underdog backstories that had me rooting for them from the gitgo JLO coming from the streets fighting her way to the top and Christina like living in Britney’s shadow.

First single with Pitbull, second with Lil Wayne, it all seems so calculated and producer based but maybe that is what you have to do today to score some hit singles. Of course it does not hurt to have the AI media machine working for you.

So *ahem* “love controller” is what we’re calling it now? Good to know.

I think calculated collabs with people like Pitbull, B.o.b., Lil Wayne, etc. are the only opening some artists are going to have to CHR acceptence, sadly. Heck, even Katy Perry lead off her album with a Snoop collab; and I credit Pitbull with Enrique’s success.

  • stwbcross

I would like to say that’s it just AI who has brought Jennifer back but dang, her music’s actually good… and at her age she can still sell the sex.

I agree with you but it must be tough on the ego for artists that have had major success in the past to need Pitbull and Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj to get to number 1 these days. Also some of these rappers are on so many singles that I am getting sick of them. Pitbull sounds the same on every record. He does his thing totally separate from the starring performer and they just smooch them together and it shows.

Well, that’s how pop stars these days mostly operate.

Rihanna added Britney Spears on S&M remix to push the song from #2 to #1 on HOT 100.
Britney Spears released a remix of “Till the World Ends” with Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha.

And then we have all the rappers …

From the fall on her butt at the AMA 2009, she recovered herself from the floor, dusted her Louboutins and she’s back now better then ever. One well deserving artist I think, decent singer and actress, business woman, she knows her potential and how much she has it and take advantage of it not pushing boundaries. Of course she is now the beneficiary of AI publicity, who wouldn’t if would be in her Louboutins, Paula had her publicity too, for sure limited to her potential.

If you look at where Jlo came from you can see she has really busted her butt to get where she is. I like her on Idol, and she represents a huge part of the Latino community. She is still gorgeous and I love her Lioness attitude in the video lol. I hate the rapping, to me it ruins most songs. Oh, and the guy with her on the beach can be my “love controller” anyday. lol

    Meh! Not anything special.

Go Jennifer. I’m not mad at ya! ;-)

As for Christina, I just saw last week’s The Voice. Loved it! Good luck to her too.
