Jennifer Hudson to Perform at Michael Jackson Memorial, Madonna Pays Tribute

Noon?!!?! I thought the memorial service was going to be at 10 am. Oh maybe it’s 10 am over there but noon here? Where I am it’s EST.

I do believe it starts at 10 a.m. Pacific which is 1 p.m. Eastern……so CNN is starting coverage at 9 a.m. Pacific which is Noon Eastern.

I would expect the major networks will at least cover the service starting at 10 a.m. Pacific they’ll want the ratings. Note to self to take speakers to work to be able to listen to the performances. How cool that Jennifer has been asked to participate. I wonder who else will be asked. It would be very touching if the brothers and Janet perform something in Michael’s memory. Since Kenny Ortega is directing it, I have no doubt it will all be very touching. It would also be nice if the band and dancers that were going to be on the tour are asked to participate in some way. It’s going to be an event to remember and Michael will be sent off in style.

I think it’s wonderful that Jennifer gets to pay tribute by singing at the memorial. I am starting back to tutoring at 12:00 on Tues. July 7th was also my dad’s b-day.

There will never be another Michael Jackson…..Ever. His genius only comes along once. As a good friend of mine noted, we took Michael for granted. RIP Michael.

Yeah, I think it’s just her general awesomeness, Lu, no MJ connection that I’m aware of. But it does seem a little striking to me that she would take part in an event of public mourning like this, so soon after the extended period of mourning she’s been in for her own family. Maybe it will be cathartic for her and the viewers who know of that connection.

His death really shook me, I am a huge fan, have been all my life!

So I’ll be watching the memorial, even though I’ll probably be a wreck the rest of the day…but I need closure too, and need to say goodbye…so glad they’re doing this for him…he deserves it!

In his tour rehearsal video footage, when the person said, “Hold for applause… fade out” and the light fadded out, Michael Jackson was smiling before the light fadded out…. That really got to me. He seemed so happy doing the thing he loves the most before he died. :’( I hope he’d found his peace at last. :’(

miknge – I noticed that too…he broke into this huge smile at the very end…it kills me to watch that. Why did this have to happen now, when he was on the verge of a spectacular comeback? His brilliance will be missed. But more than anything, I feel for his children. Michael obviously had some underlying physical and emotional issues, but those doctors that were enablers should lose their licenses, and go to jail. How many more talented celebrities do we have to lose this way, before this insanity stops?

The playing of Michael’s music reminds me what GREAT dance music there was in the 1980s.
