Cut! It’s so much fun to see his whole family enjoying and sharing this with him. They’re so appreciative and excited, yet, it’s just part of their dinner & a movie night. LOL!

I love these videos. Guess this is one upside of not having a major label contract yet… You’re free to do and say as you please. I don’t think he’d be able to do such personal videos if he was under some executive’s thumb.
I think with his attitude, Jason could have a very nice career and a very large following for years to come.

He’s so freaking adorkable. Wonder what it was he didn’t want her showing. They are a great family!

Looking back over the season (still can’t stop You Tube-ing A.I.), I’m finding that I like Jason more and more. I always hear folks say that Archuleta had the purest voice. Nuh uh. It was Jason. His voice was clear and beautiful and very underrated.

I think Jason is far more talented than he got credit for and he’ll have more of a career than folks expect. I’m now looking forward to his CD. Just like we need a rocker to love (yeah…Cooksie!), I’m ready for another folk-rocker to create some classic music. It’s been a while….

Come on Jason. Show us whachu got!

I sooo want Jason to show everyone what he’s got cuz I KNOW he has got it. I just love the down to earth family “stuff” we get from his family and him. I just hope and pray that he is allowed to remain true to what that is all about and it never changes.

I love these home movies! All of the attention he’s gotten hasn’t phased Jason a bit. I almost think his sister is enjoying the attention more than he is! That girl is going to be a star…watch out for Jackie Castro!

Seriously?! That is so Jason in every way. It just makes us love him more. Jason, I hope you never change your adorable essence.

He is my favorite Idol ever – I love his personality, his voice, his charm and his “realness” if that makes sense. He is so happy all the time. I’m sure he has his moments of irritation but for the most part he has such a great attitude. Did I mention I love him? LOL
Jason has so much sparkle and charisma, he just draws you in. His family is sweet too. You can tell they really appreciate the fans and that is just so nice.

These little videos are priceless! He will have a nice career, no doubt about that. And Jackie will too…LOL! What a cutie!

I agree Jason’s voice was underrated on the show. His tone is really beautiful and he’s such a sweet, genuine guy. Nobody tell David Cook but somewhere along the line Jason became my favorite.

My favorites were always Jason and David Cook. David Cook as himself is pure awesome. Jason Castro as himself is beautiful. They were my favorites from the beginning and still haven’t waivered. I still want to hear them do Barracuda with Carly

I love Jason too…..his voice is pure and comes from his heart. That’s what catches my attention…..he’s about the music and the emotion. His writing shows the same attributes……he’ll be a great success!

I agree! the 1970′s brought us some great folk-rock; James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Carly Simon, Carole King, etc. I know Brooke White was compared to them but I believe Jason is up and coming to those ranks too.

I read somewhere awhile back that Michael Castro has a great head for business and would be a good asset for Jason’s career. IIRC, he is one year behind Jason at Texas A&M. Maybe brother Michael was taking the video since he’s the only family member not accounted for.

That is correct. There are two different lists. One is pre-order, which requires you to enter payment info. This list is forthcoming albums. Right now, Cookie and Archie are the only ones signed, so no other Idols will show up on this list for a new release.

The other list serves as a notification for when something becomes available to be ordered or pre-ordered. That’s the list all the Idols are on. All you have to do is sign up with Amazon to be notified when the artist has something available. It’s not a commitment of any kind.

Hope that clears up the confusion.

This makes me smile and miss seeing cutie Jason on TV each week. I too think his pure voice was underrated on the show but his fans got him about as far as possible given his limited experience. I expect him to grow during the tour and HOPEFULLY get signed.

I found the article where Jason said his Daydream was “influenced” (apparently, it wasn’t an exact copy, heh) by Paolo Nutini’s acoustic version. It’s in this Billboard Q&A from (I think) just before Jason was eliminated…

As everyone knows, song choice is crucial. I was impressed with your version of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Daydream.” Where did that arrangement come from?

I’d never heard the song and I picked it before I had heard any of the covers of it because that first list of songs was tough, especially for me. I loved the feel of that song and what it talked about. I thought it was a great opening song. It was very much me. And that’s the first thing, you have to connect with the song. I started researching and I found a cover of it by Paolo Nutini. He had an acoustic feel to it. Everything I do has an acoustic feel to it because that’s the only way I know how to play. His version fit me, like I felt like I fit into it. And so I started just playing with it. It’s different from his, but it had some influence.

So it’s a towel and Jason’s mom (over at daydreaming.com), gives the lowdown on why Jason didn’t want it shown on camera (and more besides)…

He wipped some blood from a scab w it and was embarrased to show it dirty! I’m on my blackberry at a hospital in FL with my 78 year old dad so bear with me!(And pray for him! Never a dull moment!) Replying on the forums is a bit challenging!
Regarding Jason (as well as Michael)and his role as big bro to Jackie, it started from the moment I told them we were having a baby girl! I made sure they both understood the huge redponsibility they had been given, and I must say they have been awesome bros! They tease every once in a while, but overall, she knows what a Godly man looks like and the man that wins her heart over has some big shoes to fill! They go above and beyond helping her become the best she can be!

I love the fact that his mom is so open with the fans and posts over at DDB. She is just darling! I can’t remember that ever happening with an Idol that I’ve followed in the past – maybe it has and I just didn’t know? It’s really cute. Cookie is next with 83 images and Syesha has beaten Archie. MJ has 22 which is surprising, he’s got a pretty face. KLC = 23, David Hernandez = 26.

PJ, they took all but one photo down at the Trey Hill site. It appears, from what is written further down the page on the Trey Hill site, that “I Am Second” is going to be an ad campaign of some sort with featured people explaining why God is first in their life.

It really sums up what my husband and I felt about Jason Castro.

Forget about the good looks…just looking from a musical point of view. Jason captures something in music that we used to hear alot more on radio. I responded to that blog that you know, Bob Dylan had mentors in Woodie Guthrie and Pete Seeger and many others in the folk music scene at the time. I hope that someone will take Jason under wing and mentor him too.

That blog was lovely, well thought out and well written. I hope he gets the opportunity to read it.

We did used to hear a lot more folk music back in the day, but what I find my 25 and 27 year old sons listening to on “indie” stations sounds very folky too. There seems to be a resurgence of this type of music, and Jason is coming along at just the right time. He is a perfect fit and truthfully he’s the first Idol contestant ever that my boys have liked. They both get into his “singer/songwriter” vibe. I think that is a very positive thing and says lots about his general appeal. Idol may not have appreciated him but there are plenty of people who already do, and more that will once his CD is out and music starts playing on the radio.

Jason doesn’t have to take the world by storm…..he will just saunter in and capture hearts, one by one. His fan base will grow and grow…….and we’ll all be able to say we were here in the beginning!

awilliams these are my thoughts exactly. Is the age of the mentor important? He needs to be included in someone’s tour to experience more exposure. Later, I would love to see him on tour with Brooke.

If you turn up the volume on the stupid TMZ video you can get what he says. When they ask about getting laid, he kind of does a shrug thing and mumbles “I don’t know. Probably could.” Then kind of laughs. Looks not great on paper, but he says it in his usual nonassuming Jason way and even that comes off as totally adorable.

For the record, he looks totally embarrassed at the question. Heh. No idea why.

Even being chased down the street he is still a nice guy – that was sweet, he motioned to the camera man that he was going to trip. If I was him I would have let him fall on his butt. Not really but – oooh – big bad story TMZ. You did yourself proud – NOT. I know you are just a rag mag gone video but what an immature question and story title. Oh well, bad publicity is still publicity as they say and they just showed us once again that he is a nice guy who will NOT finish last in the long run.

I love this young man more than ever. What a perfect response. And TMZ stands for Total Mental Zeroes! (As in: Zero IQ.) Or switch Mental with Moral. They’re just a bunch of losers. Jason made them look foolish.

I didn’t see it, but apparently on the TMZ tv show they were a bit nicer and after airing the same video, they showed a snippet of Jason and Mandy from whatever tv show she had appeared on briefly with him and they mentioned that he had a girlfriend who he adored and that he enjoyed being monogomous.

Granted not defending TMZ, but not sure the change of heart for why they were nicer to him on the actual show. Maybe AI got to them or something…who knows.

I don’t know how many of you have heard, but Jason lost his grandfather yesterday, as his mother posted on DDB

We heard, rereader. It’s sad…on Fathers’ Day, too. However, it seems that Jason’s mom, at least, is trying to stay positive about it. I hope the rest of the family is taking it as well as she seems to be.

According to castrocopia, Jason was supposed to have been interviewed on Mix 107.7 at 8:05 AM Eastern this morning. I am unable to access the live streaming so I don’t know if Jason made it at all or what happened if he did. Did anybody catch it?

ETA: Over at daydreamingboy.com, somebody caught the interview and recounted what transpired. No mention of grandpa’s passing, it seems…

I enjoyed the NY video and amazed at how well Jason handled the nonstop photos, autographs and fan pics (with the same fan four times!).

I just caught a blip on CNN in reference to Tim Russert’s memorial service today. It seems they played music taken from Tim’s IPod. The song they played was Somewhere, Over the Rainbow…complete with Uke.

I came in so late that I couldn’t tell if it was Jason or not. Did someone else do that song with a Uke?

I just found that Israel Kamakawiwo Ole did this song; but it wasn’t his voice in this version at the memorial service. I really do believe it was Jason. It was just a little bit deeper sounding than what I remembered.

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! The hospice donation is the best gift ya’ll could have given me. I have learned so much from the most beautiful group of people at the Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs FL! They showed so much love and respect to my dad, I never knew there was a place like this. Daily they would walk in, fresh flowers in the room, they would talk to him, give him a shave and a bath, and make sure there were fresh comfy pillows all around. They even gave him a manicure! I tell you these people are angels. It made my watching my dad pass that much easier. He was peaceful and comfortable. Treated with dignity and respect, which was a big prayer of mine!

I know all of you are inspired or touched by Jason’s music, but there was no greater joy when I asked my dad if he wanted to listen to Jason and he nodded his head yes. I put my ipod on his ears and the smile and peaceful look on his face was priceless! I know I’m his mom, but God love him, he’s got a major gift! Then the day my dad passed I went to Cocoa Beach to spend the night. I hadn’t slept a full night in 8 days so a friend of mine found me a very comfy bed with an ocean view! What a blessing. When I first got there I went down to the beach, I spent some time there gathering my thoughts and fell asleep on the beach for 2 hours listening to Jason’s songs and what an amazing period of sleep! I woke up thinking “am I insane, alone on the beach, passed out!” But God’s always taking care of me!

Then I had a steak dinner, went up to my room and slept like a bump on a log!

Thank you all for all the prayers, thoughts, keeping up with the boards and my baby…ya’ll are truly the best group of people! God bless ya’ll!

I can’t seem to visit DDB without the sinking feeling in my stomach that I’m about to enter a fangirly pukefest, so thanks for allowing me to continue operating under the inexplicable delusion of superiority. (…I kid, of course. I’m glad his mom is more of a blogger than Jason is.)

Oh, and I cannot begin to tell you how nice it was to see Brooke’s myspace love reciprocated. Like sumidol said, I’m sure the fact that we aren’t included is due to his slowness and not a lack of manners on his part at all.
