Jason Castro New Single “Only A Mountain” Drops August 7

Season 7 American Idol alum, Jason Castro, announces his new single on twitter, “Enough shenanigans, the new single #OnlyAMountain is hitting iTunes this Tuesday, 8/7.”

The song is the title track from his upcoming Christian contemporary album, Only a Mountain. Jason is currently on tour, check out his schedule HERE.

    Always interested in Jason. Christian genre isn’t my thing, but I wish the best for him. I like his voice so I will check out his new song.

    Looking forward to it – Jason has a beautiful voice (along with Anoop among my favorites on the mellow side).  Might add, Christian contemporary has some great singers – Mandisa definitely on my list and quite a few others.

    lovetheusa1776, this post reflects my feelings as well.  I was a part of the Dreadheads and Jason is still my favorite!  Love Anoop’s beautiful tone and Mandisa’s gorgeous voice!

    I like Jason, but am tired of his dreads.  Wish he’d cut them off and try a new style with the hair.  I don’t think it would hurt his career a bit to do so.  He’s a nice looking guy, doesn’t need those things hanging down almost to his waist.  He might even get some extra (good) attention if he changed up his look a bit.  Just an opinion, the dreads just caught my eye a little more than usual in that cover photo there.  :)

    I don’t think the dreads are going anywhere anytime soon.  At this point, it’s him.  Nor do I really find them distracting since that is how I expect him to look at this point.  Also, I don’t think they are anywhere near waist length.  He has had them trimmed I believe when he needs to, so he does maintain them and keep them from getting too crazy.

    Love Jason and will likely buy this just because he has always been one of my favorite voices AI has produced.  I’m not into the Christian music scene, though I don’t begrudge him going there, but I have pretty much followed him since I like his voice that much.  I haven’t had any new Jason music in awhile.

    Last I heard I think an EP is supposed to come out later this year and full album maybe early next?

    Right now, they are his looks.  He has such beautiful eyes and that’s what I notice first.  In that photo I realize he has left the late teens look he had on Idol to a good looking man!  I wish him the best with his career!

    Maybe someone who follows the CCM scene can answer this for me — how do artists promote their singles? There are not a lot of Christian radio stations (38 monitored CAC stations on Mediabase) and I don’t know how many of those have artists come do in-studio (or other) shows.

    I know there are a fair amount of Christian music festivals to perform at and the artists can tour just like those in other genres, but that seems like stuff to do more to promote albums rather than singles.

    Though Cookie was my fav, I did really like Jason quite a bit.  He has a really nice voice.  It is unusual and so filled with emotion.

    I like Jason’s dreads.  They suit him and his vibe.  I think they enhance his good looks and do not detract.
