James Durbin released two new videos for his “Stand Up” single. One is a straight ahead performance video. The other is the same premise, shot in sports jerseys, for ESPN.

    Good for you!

I was wondering when he’d start singing the LMB verses up an octave — he did that in “Uprising” for most of the tour.  Is this the first time we’ve heard him sing “Deeper”?  What was the fourth song?

I was just listening to the two Dallas videos and I really do like “Crawling Home” a lot.  Shame it’s not on the album.

I really look forward to hearing LMB up the octave.

Crawling Home is my favorite too. I wish they would have included it on the album so it could have been released as a single.

I bet James knew who you were as soon as you told him your blogging name
and I bet he appreciates that you have his back. So happy you were able to spend time with them.

The 4th song he sang was All I Want. He opened with it. They all were so great. James took the time to take pics with everyone. I brought my CD and he signed it. He signed everything people asked. My daughter, who really wasn’t that much of a fan before, is now really impressed.(she and James were talking his socks and her jacket lol).
Oh and I agree Crawling Home should have been on the album. He sings it great live, right in his range. It was the highlight of the set!

Well, one more thing about his band.  I am a fan of many different Idols and I follow different ones on twitter, but James is the first one that I actually follow his band too.  The whole band is entertaining.  I like Daughtry too but I don’t even know who his band members are.  But the guys in James’ band are all fun.

I am so jealous right now-but it couldn’t happen to two nicer people.  I am so glad james knows the blog and sees he has nothing to worry about with loyal fans out here like you & Sabbia and the rest of us.  We wont let you down James-nothing negative will ever go unanswered-we do have your back, love you and only wish good things for you and the rest of the idol alumni.

So excited for you and Sabbia! Sounds like you had a blast. James is great with his fans. I love the band too, they’re all unique and the perfect match for James. I also recently discovered how much fun, entertaining and witty James is too since the Bing Lounge show, and his Tyler imitation cracked me up it was so perfect. I bet DJs love to have him in the studio!

What was the 4th song? You only mentioned Deeper, CH and LMB. Can’t wait to hear the new LMB version. As for Crawling Home, I’m sure a deluxe album is coming very soon, and it’ll be on there. ;)

They seem fun. I wish I could have met Ty and Jeff. I feel sorry they’re missing the “acoustic thunder tour”.
Highest praise: my daughter said on the ride home, “James is great I could see hanging out and playing video games with him.”

It looks like GS61 filled everyone in quite nicely! For those fans interested, I thought I’d share some additional details.

(Hi GS!! <> It was so great meeting you and your daughter. You are a riot! Had an absolute blast.)

I have voiced my opinion quite bluntly here that I was pretty tired of the acoustic performance and also have always been the first to admit when his voice didn’t sound great on some of these vids that have been posted since MOABD was released. But, I can’t even begin to describe how amazing James is in concert. I ended up being so thankful in attending this intimate event because it felt like he was performing in our own living rooms and the experience was incredible.

When speaking with the audience, he was relaxed, funny and made everyone feel like he was just one of the guests hanging out at a regular party. (some of the beginning banter included arguing with Dylan about who won the wrestling match in the hotel room that day, and how coconut oil is good for a singers throat but keeps you skinny because it makes you have to constantly pee). This was one of the areas that James has grown exponentially. I was watching some older Idol performances and you could tell he was extremely uncomfortable when he was talking to judges afterwards (he himself has admitted how awkward he felt talking to them). No more.

And when he started to sing….wow, he just drew you in completely. He has an incredible gift of taking you along for the ride as he sings to experience the song completely. That’s the best I can describe it. The radio station sponsoring the event had a guy named Mikey Wax perform first and he was pretty good. But, when James took the stage the difference in stage presence and performance level was extremely noticeable. GS61 and I were trying to pin it down why we enjoy him so much and she nailed it when she said “he just has the IT factor”. ITA, James has it in spades! He had the crowd mesmerized. Even those who were only there to accompany family/friends and weren’t “fans” were applauding wildly by the middle of the set.

They performed Deeper for the first time and I was blown away. I loved everything about it….the guitars and the arrangement. That song was the preamble to Crawling Home which, as GS61 said, had everyone on their feet for an ovation. It was really, really good.

I took some video on my camera but because of the lighting, James is only a shadow. Also, the sound quality is really poor and does not do justice to how James really sounded but I’ll upload those if I don’t see better quality posted elsewhere.

If anyone that is a James fan, even the more casual ones, have the opportunity to see him at one of these smaller venues I encourage you greatly to seize it while you have the chance. It is such a unique experience.

Thanks so much for your description. I so wish that I could have been there. I hope there are some good vids. : ))

Oh…forgot to mention Dylan and Blake. As has been said, they are a hoot! The die-hard James fan (I was only able to go b/c she gave me her other ticket) and I both commented on what sweetie-pies those 2 were. They were thrilled that fans reached out to talk to them and were even astonished when we first tried to get their attention to give them their gifts by calling them by name.

We got to talking about Blake’s hair…the conversation actually started with giving Blake his gift of moustache scissors (for his newly grown facial hair) that were in the shape of a bird (he said it was the coolest gift he’s ever been given!)…..and I had told him that I saw a comment here mentioning him performing in a music video with short hair. He said “yeah, I’m being told to cut it short again now.” I asked him who wanted it cut short and he replied “James. He saw that video too and he thinks it’s cool.” It caught me off-guard…I thought he was going to say his mother or someone of authority was badgering him to cut it short. lol

James bandmates are fun, talented and ridiculously hot.

  • GS61

Hi Sabbia! Great to meet you last night! Boy that was a great show (too short!)
So that’s what you gave Blake, Hilarious! He should definitely not cut his hair! Him and Dylan swinging that hair is half the fun! lol
Even though I can’t wait to see the band electric, you are SO right about seeing them in such an intimate setting. It was like we were at a party instead of a concert, right?

I have so enjoyed these last few posts this morning; all the little personal details you and GS61 have shared about Monday night’s performance just underscores what many of us have known all along, and what many will never get – ever!

James is warm, funny, witty, personable, smart, talented in so many ways, and what he can do with that voice is pure magic. He is so versatile, and the album NEEDS to be heard by more.  Love every song on it, but he gives me chills when he shows the tender side in “May”, and like others who have had the pleasure of hearing “Crawling Home”, THAT one REALLY needs to be heard by all.

James, don’t ever ever ever quit being who you are, and don’t ever ever ever think that we don’t have your back. :)

“I have so enjoyed these last few posts this morning; all the little personal details you and GS61 have shared about Monday night’s performance just underscores what many of us have known all along, and what many will never get – ever!”  –  Desdemona2011

That, Desdemona2011, is why it’s not difficult to “have someone’s back” especially in James case b/c it’s hard to figure out why others strike out at all.  He’s all mostly about smiles & pushing forward–how can you beat up on that?  It is important to stay onboard to correct misstatments.  Many times things get ironed-out in the end so that’s a good thing.   Despite what celebs endure I hope they find all the rest to be wonderfully fun.  I loved the SU videos–James “jump” (haven’t seen it for awhile), the band’s elevator ride, the setting of the band performing (the bldg.), –any fan not seeing it yet (keep trying).  The NFL one was just as great (team jersey’s, although always (anti-team fan-flaring)-we know there are many out there so big deal they chose a couple to wear, someone is “lovin it” (lol).
That booing topic again, like the poster said could have been something unrelated to the perf.– as I stated I heard whistles & cheers at the end on tv.  Don’t trust ANY U-Tube video–Amen, Whatever & Moving On!

Also, thought the ST imitation fun & spot on!  Also, also….was glad when the interviewer prodded James to reveal “who” ST’s scribbles on his desk related to & James averted that & answered with “I don’t know they may well have been re. me!” (I don’t go back for actual quotes).  Good reply by James.

Very excited for those who got to visit with them–how cool was that!
