Bought All Adam and Allison’s stuff and about to listen. SO excited.

ETA: Everything they touched is miraculous. Wow. Poor allison. such bs. cant wait to get her album tho.

Oh, and if anyone bought Danny’s single, can u post if they digitally fixed “The Note”…thanx…im interested to see if they have made technology for something as extreme as that. im guessing/hoping no. im intrigued..but not 99 cents intrigued.

  • twinkle

love the studio recording of whole lotta love. just lost a few brain cells head banging along.

Adam switched up the “woman” for “baby” :)

i wonder why he said woman on the show and recorded baby. i remember someone else commented about him possibly liking to play up the ambiguity… :) keeps all us lady-fans hoping he plays in a coed league… sigh

i hope in the finale he comes out in all his glammed out glory and says “here i am, vote for me or don’t. you need to know what you are getting into and im gonna be a star either way”

    *swoon*

  • Duke

i remember someone else commented about him possibly liking to play up the ambiguityà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ :)

    hahahahahaha. keep dreaming.

  • elephant1212

danny’s song is just horrendous again here….i think they just gave up and computerized that last note LOL

  • undercooked

    Adam switched up the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“womanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ for à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“babyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ :) .

To paraphrase Ann Powers, the music critic of the Los Angeles Times, the vibe that Adam gives off on the show is that he thinks all kinds of love are beautiful. I get that impression too. He is a guy who loves people, you can tell that by the way he enteracts with both the male and female contestants. So with this song, you have the live version and the recorded version and there is something for everyone. I wouldn’t define him, accept that Adam is an artist that makes alot of people feel good.

  • AC

Ahh! They tricked me into buying something by Danny Gokey! I only wanted Kris!

  • baxter

Duke- Trust me you don’t want to go there. Dream On studio is only slightly better than the live version. And yes they auto tuned the hell out of the entire song. Hell they had to. He riffs and then does this weird thing at about the 2:50 mark with his voice that just doesn’t work, but then again the whole freaking song doesnt work for him.

  • twinkle

oh for sure! i love all of ann’s articles on him. IMO sexuality is definitely fluid (like she said) and i love that he doesn’t define it or him.

sexy is sexy and that boy oooozes sexuality. at least while he is performing, anyways. i love how once the music stops “rockgod” adam turns back into “boy next door but with eyeliner” adam.

  • undercooked

oh for sure! i love all of annà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s articles on him. IMO sexuality is definitely fluid (like she said) and i love that he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t define it or him.

This! Imagine if none of us defined ourselves, how much more open we would all be to new experiences, and who knows, deeper love.

Adam’s Itune recording rocks. I also downloaded Adam’s and Allison’s duet, and the video of it, because that was one pure joyful moment and I just love it.

  • elephant1212

Just got back from American Idol taping sitting next to Adam Lambert’s mom. I love you ADAM!!!

  • cmheart

Someone has already posted Danny’s version on Youtube:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8T39HJiWJQ

I just had to see what it would sound like. Better than live, but still weird during the screaming section (starts around 2:25 in).

  • lovecert

    Autotune fails… eventually.

  • flynnsgirl

Just got back from American Idol taping sitting next to Adam Lambertà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s mom. I love you ADAM!!!

    spill.

WLL is amazing. Going to get Allison’s and the duet.
Allison said on tonight’s Idol Extra that they are going to do the duet on Tour. Adam wants to do Ring of Fire. Woo Hoo!

  • chessguy99

If you buy just one Allison track this season, buy Cry Baby. Its her best of the season. While her others were well done, they lacked emotional connection to the material. On Cry baby Allison delivers on every level. Its as if she knew she was going and channeled all that emotion into the recording. Once this girl gets some life experience, she could make a real impact in blues-rock.

I know it’s fun to speculate – and really – it doesn’t matter one whit when it comes to my enjoyment of his talent but…..way back in the beginning, before Adam wowed everybody with ‘Satisfaction’ and ‘Black or White’ – his original MySpace and Facebook pages were still available ‘as is’ (as in unedited and unexpurgated). I’d first noticed Adam at the auditions. He really impressed me – so I looked him up. He stated very clearly under preference: ‘looking for boys and girls to play with’. Now – take that any way you want. I took it to mean heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s looking for boys and girls to play with – separately or together. Why not? Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s fun. And you only live once. Now – perhaps Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m giving what he said a generous interpretationà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦..but why not? Like I said à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s fun to speculate.

I was sorry to see Allison go home. She deserved to be in that final. Oh well. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Adam for the win!

  • JudyOhio

Bought Slow Down and Cry Baby and they are both outstanding!

Can’t get over how good those two sound together! And Allison on Cry Baby, well ….she just SO nails it, love it! I hope they don’t turn her some sugary “pop” singer when she gets signed on some contract because she’s a natural little rocker for sure….love her sound.

ETA – Oh, and bought Adam’s Whole Lotta Love PERFORMANCE video because I like watching him saying WOMAN!……….mercy!

  • LakesideUK

I adore Adam but I’m not feeling this track, probably because I’m not and never will be a classic rock fan. Great vocal, just not my cuppa.

I feel somewhat the same about Allison’s too. Hearing one lyric – cry baby – repeated so many times does my head in. Same for “Slow Ride”.

I loved all three of these performances on the night but then the truncated versions don’t get a chance to outstay their welcome.

Kris’ was okay but I always find him rather dull.

I have no intention of finding out what Danny’s studio version is like. I feel I’ve suffered enough… :help_tb:

  • oceana

Last year after the finale the immediately erased all the songs from itunes, so in case they do that again this year, I suggest that people get the songs they want now because they might not be available much longer.

Last year I was lucky enough to get all of David Cook’s performances, and I still treasure them. This year I made sure to get Allison’s each week. She hasn’t done a single song that I haven’t loved her vocals. I liked her from the start.

  • michelleVN

Oh dear Lord, Gokey still sounds like a dying cat during the scream. The whole song is really weird, and not in a good way. Michael Johns’ last year is light years better. This is Gokey trying to be Lambert and became a lamb (a dying screeching one) instead.
Kris’ is a sleeper, as usual. He just doesn’t have the voice for this, sorry.
Allison is good. She’s always been consistently good in her recordings, but they all sound the same to me. So idk.
Adam’s is perfection. It’s fun, hip and would make Led Zeppelin and all the Rock Gods very proud. His switching “woman” to “baby” makes me smile :)

  • Lu

I am SO buying Adam and Allison. I hope it’s not the only time they duet. I love their voices together!

  • t2

I want to thank ai ptb for finally coming up with a week where I have no interest in buying any of the iTunes. I really needed to start saving my money. Seriously pitiful.

  • solitaire

I bought Adam’s & Allison’s & their duet. I also went back and bought a few more of Adam’s from earlier this season before they disappear.

I was completely blown away by Allison’s sing out last night, that girl rocked the house. I’d pay money to see that again in concert. :-)

She is so gonna have a great career!

  • wordnerdarchie

I listened to Danny’s studio version of Dream On. I couldn’t stand to listen to the whole song. I needed to listen to Michael Johns’ version in order to purge the memory banks in my brain. (By the way, MJ sings it in a higher key.)

    MJ’s Dream On

  • michelleVN

sexy is sexy and that boy oooozes sexuality. at least while he is performing, anyways. i love how once the music stops à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“rockgodà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ adam turns back into à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“boy next door but with eyelinerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ adam.

EXACTLY. And i love both Rock God Adam and sweetheart Adam :)

  • EllieA

Just got back from American Idol taping sitting next to Adam Lambertà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s mom. I love you ADAM!!!

We want details! Did you make a fool of yourself, pawing at her and asking her tons of questions about the Glambert to the point where she got scared and asked to be moved…because that’s what I would have done.

  • Dr. Tracey

I’ll buy Allison’s and Adam’s duet for sure, dunno about the others but definitely won’t be buying Gokey’s.

  • http://www.myspace.com/gwendolyndiane GwendolynD

Puh-leeze. “Dream On” is good, and the note isn’t bad at all. He didn’t sing it straight.

Good studios this week. Bought the usuals. Listened to the others online.

  • BootStar

I felt so bad when Michael Johns got booted last season, I bought his studio version of Dream On. It is vastly superior to Danny’s (although Danny’s studio version doesn’t sound any worse or better than any of his other numbers).

I’m thinking of buying Danny’s video just for the LOL factor. Did they autotune it, or is it in its purest form? I want it in all its unadulturated glory. Seriously, one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard. I’m not a fan of Danny, but I applaud him for being able to laugh at himself.

  • weareallinnocent

…and the note isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t bad at all.

I love how this is now the measure we go by for Danny’s recording. Gotta love diminished expectations! ;-P

  • http://www.myspace.com/gwendolyndiane GwendolynD

    Gotta love diminished expectations!

    Yeah. This. Wink back.

  • Duke

OK so i listed to Danny’s studio ( on youtube ) and thats deff not him doing that ending of “The Note” he probably just whispered that run and it sounds like they used every trick in the studio-recording-book to fix that mf’ing note.

And holy crap! you got to sit next to Adam’s mom?!?!?! Did you get a lock of her hair so we can create more Adam’s?!?!?!?!?!

  • Victoria

    Puh-leeze. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Dream Onà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ is good, and the note isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t bad at all. He didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t sing it straight.

I believe that “good” factor you are hearing is called autotune. It’s amazing what you can do with it. I had to listen to the scream twice (on Youtube, no way am I buying that!) to completely distinguish it from the music. It sounds so fake. They really had to fix that one up.

  • koolgurl

I’d rather listen to one scream than a whole song of screams.

  • Tess

The mark of a very good duet….Adam and Allison blend so flawlessly on their duet that you have to listen really closely (on the computer, I haven’t downloaded it to CD for playing on my surround sound Bose system, yet) to figure out who is singing when and when they are harmonizing. In a few years it will be fun to pull this out and say to people: ” Here, let me play something they recorded together before they became such fantastic mega stars. They were totally awesome back then, too”.

  • eastgal80

    I’m lovin’ Adam’s WLL!

  • Michelle

Ahh! They tricked me into buying something by Danny Gokey! I only wanted Kris!

    LOL yeah, I hate that!

  • oceana

I love Adam’s wail in performance but probably wouldn’t want it on my ipod. I might like it on speakers at home if I was cleaning the house and wanted something to really wake me up. But it is in tune and after Ring of Fire he never had a bad scream.

Does anyone know when Allison will be on tv and what shows? And is there a fan page for her? I’m smitten. I really want her voice to be heard and her dreams to come true.

  • Soapbox0916

Even as a Kris fan, I was surprised how much better Kris sounded on the performance video for Come Together compared to my television. Granted his version is different from the orginal, but it actually fits in quite nicely with his other performance videos.

The other thing I notice too by playing all of his performance videos together is that he has quite a range of speed and pace on his songs. Kris is so laid back that he appears to have a slower speed compared to most of the other contestants, but he really does mix it up a lot more than he is given credit for.

  • Lojolauk

I’m listening to mp3s of Allison that I found online. I can’t wait for her to put out a CD. The girl is going to ROCK IT!! I haven’t been this excited about a contestant since last season (Jason Castro) and can’t wait for his CD, too!

  • Duke

For me, the more Adam wailing the better. *insert wailing smiley w/ tongue out* …mj, i think you should get one of those b4 the finale!

  • reeboks1

cry baby is so soooo good.

  • EllieA

For me, the more Adam wailing the better.

    Amen to that!!!

  • Norwegiano

OK, have downloaded Adam’s Whole Lotta Love, listened to it carefully, and his vocal craft is on full display.

The note that slides up at the 2:16-2:26 mark is truly breathtaking.

My only issue with the studio recordings is that they lack that “live” feeling…very exact.

I assume that Adam will be choosing musicians very carefully for his first release, and I think it would be best to record them live…to give us that true “Adam performance” quality that is so electric.

And do it in 5.1, dammit.

  • http://www.myspace.com/gwendolyndiane GwendolynD

    Puh-leeze. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Dream Onà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ is good, and the note isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t bad at all. He didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t sing it straight.

The Upright Cafe is gonna have soooooo much cred after this competition.

I was just thinking how freaking hysterical it would be if Danny did “Dream On” on the tour. :clap_tb:

Hahah! The set would collapse every damned night!

  • sweetie99v

Adam is simply amazing!! His recordings get better and better. I downloaded his and then the duet he did with Allison. I hope they sing together on the finale results night.

  • Victoria

I was just thinking how freaking hysterical it would be if Danny did à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Dream Onà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ on the tour. :clap_tb:

    Skeery! But hysterical, yes.

“I wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t define him, accept that Adam is an artist that makes alot of people feel good.”

I don’t accept him as an artist since he doesn’t truly connect with the music–though he is entertaining. But artistic? Hell, no. It’s all about Adam, no matter what he sings. Check Allison’s sing-out for a real rock connection. Adam has chops–but he misuses them with all the posturing and theatricality. He needs the makeup and the costumes and the held-notes to make up for a lack of soul. It’s Allison who is the genuine thing.

  • carolinacharms

It’s not a big deal (the gay issue) and it would be at the same time less of a deal and more of a deal if Adam would just stick it to TPTB and talk about it–live. As the Admin intimated, it wouldn’t hurt him one bit to do it. It might even help some viewers to cope with their coming out.

BTW, am I the only one around here who likes Soul, R&B and even some Pop? Haha. :) It’s like RAWK to the nth power up in here! LOL!

  • sauer1

Downloaded Adam’s song and it was as usual truly amazing and fun. It picks up your spirits when driving down the road. I have to say I was a David Archuleta fan last year and will always have a spot in my heart for him as he is such a talented singer but what a switch I have made. Adam just knows how to arrange a song in a way that it sounds the same and yet it is totally his at the same time. Need to do some heavy voting next week as Danny’s people are gonna be in force. Can you see having to sit through a final with Danny and Kris. I love Kris but what a snooze fest. We need to have the excitement in there. Vote heavy!!

By the way, I bought Allison’s also and it was great. There duet was spectacular and so much fun to watch. You can tell they were really close. I’ll bet she’ll be secretly hoping for him to win also. They seemed very buddy like.

  • Dr. Tracey

I downloaded Cry Baby and the Adam/Allison duet which is my favorite…………oh I need the video too ‘cos it’s all about the visual with that one……..*runs back to iTunes*

  • carolinacharms

To shamelessly borrow a line from the late Luther Vandross (I bet that’s a first here!), if there’s ever an intergalactic singing competition, Earth should send Mr. Adam Lambert!!!!!

  • bambambam

Good girl. I just hope Allison will use some of her tour money to get really good vocal coaching so she does not sing her voice out. I don’t believe they used autotune on her because she’s sometimes almost on her high notes. Like Gokey, she needs some air going in her throat to make the note and I would not want to see her damage herself by shouting too much.

Let’s not forget, these recordings are made in a matter of hours, in a pressured schedule. It’s impressive that she and Adam got their shit down right so many times over the course of these weeks.

  • sauer1

Why in hell should Mr. Lambert have to talk to anyone about his personal life. This is a singing competition and that is what we should be focusing on. Give the guy a break, let him do what he does best. He can talk to people about his personal life when he feels he wants to. I think it makes him somewhat mysterious. I guarantee, alot of us women out love the thought of not knowing. He is one gorgeous guy and has the charisma to go with it. Let him do his thing and stay out of his personal life.

    The Day that Music Died

Ah! The swan song. So haunting; so beautiful. Oh, Alli, we hardly knew ye.

  • Soulkaren

Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Itune recording rocks. I also downloaded Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s and Allisonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s duet, and the video of it, because that was one pure joyful moment and I just love it.

Question about this: Can you purchase the video of AA from Tuesday night? Or did you just find it somewhere else?

  • sauer1

The Tuesday night show is on itunes as a video. It even has the hug at the end. Priceless!!!!!! Those two are way cute together! They will make one hell of a record together. They voices meshed so beautifully. I truly believe she looks at him like a big bro and vice versa. He seems like he’d be a really cool brother to have around. I have feeling he helped her out alot. Just a feeling though. I heard the Lil went to Adam alot also if not just to talk to. That is what she said during her interview.

  • ppwars

And to note. You can get “Janis Joplin’s Greatest Hits.” No rock library is complete without it. You can download Alli’s rendition of Cry Baby. Neither version detracts from the other. Killer, both. By all means, don’t deny yourself Alli’s.

I learned of JJ in Austin at the feet of Stevie Ray(R.I.P.) and others. She is revered to this day. To fully understand her music, you need to glance at a bio and talk to an old hippie. She oozed her guts thru every pore of her body every time she sang. Her live performances were numbing, gut wrenching as described to me.

This is Alli’s real gift. Delivering live in a way that can only be hinted in a studio. Beautiful studio. Numbing live performances.

And yeah: Adam and she on tour would be deadly.

  • Soulkaren

    Thanks for the heads-up…

WOW! The studio version of Slow Ride is off the charts! Amazing and perfect and every superlative I can think of …

WHY, oh why was Allison the one sent home?????

  • undercooked

I disagree that Adam doesn’t connect, but like they say, different strokes for different folks. I also love Allison. I don’t have any connection with Danny and his performances, but I do believe some do. So it’s good there are lots of different artists out there.

  • Soulkaren

Okay ~ just listened the the studio version of Cry Baby.

She sounds just like Janis ~ amazing! My favorite and I’m sure I will be pushing this to the top of my iPod playlist!

    I WANT ALLI BACK!

I interpreted the lyrical revision as more ‘Adam trying to be inclusive’ than ‘Adam trying to be ambiguous (or enigmatic)’ – though I’m probably just projecting : ]

He did something similar with the live/studio versions of Tracks of My Tears, switching “Since you left me/if you see me with another girl” in the live version to “Since you left me/If you see me with another person” in the studio I think – although IIRC he left the remainder of the “she” pronouns untouched…

Idk, he certainly does his own thing! I hope the AI producers acknowledge that this is a good thing.

  • oddobserver

I wasn’t sure which post to actually put this link in, figured this was the closest. It’s pretty funny. It’s another video montage of Danny’s The Scream, but of dogs this time.

Danny Gokey Sings Dream On by Doggie Do Production

  • bambambam

@ppwars, yes, the Joplin hits package is a must but so is the individual album “Pearl,” which includes “Cry Baby,” “Get it While You Can” (by the same brilliant songwriter, Jerry Ragovoy) and Half Moon and Move Over and Me and Bobby McGee. A moving and total musical treasure.

I think that she and Adam, choosing “Whole Lotta Love” — a re-write of a Howlin’ Wolf blues from 1962, I believe another poster mentioned — chose deeper pieces than the relatively more recent “Dream On” and “Come Together” — although the latter is also often thought to be a re-write of a Chuck Berry song, “You Can’t Catch Me.”

I do think that’s one more aspect of how authentic Adam and Allison were. They chose purer, gutsier stuff.

  • sbalk017

I hate to admit this, because half of it is Danny Gokey, but I love the studio of Renegade. The way they start out just barely acapella is beautiful. Better than Glambert, IMO. Slow Ride is amazing but I loved the live more. Crybaby is one of my favorite recordings ever from Idol. I’m so sad that she’s gone, 19E had better snap that girl up quickly. Even Kris sounds amazing on ‘Come Together” and I hated the song choice.

I didn’t even bother with Danny, even though I get the recordings for free.

I like the WLL recording and what Adam did to it. He made the song sound more current than the show version, and I think the “baby” was more modern sounding. Maybe it also was to make it ambiguous, you know how he likes to provoke a reaction!

Besides, the vocals were unbelievable. No one else will ever sing that song again on AI.

  • undercooked

This. I do think there are fewer and fewer songs with the words, boy, girl, man and woman in today’s music. Those words do seem dated.

I am so curious to how much AI had to pay for WLL to be sung on AI. And was it a one shot deal? I don’t think he should sing it again, if he makes the final, but I even wonder if that is even an option. I wonder if they knew Adam was singing it and could pull it off, so they agreed to it? Now that is a story I would like to hear. Or maybe LZ just needs the cash.

Blown away by Kris’ Come Together

  • Sinochick

I’ve bought all of Adam’s Itunes studio recordings and WLL is definitely one of his best. I bought the Adam/Allison duet too but I’m not a fan of that song so I don’t know how often I’ll listen to that studio recording.

I was thinking this morning on my way to work, wouldn’t it be hilarious if on next week’s show, the Judges’ song pick for Adam was Dream On – just so he can one-up Danny and sing the song the way it was meant to be sung! LOL

  • StevenD

The problem with Adam coming out on television is that for people who do have a problem with it will then prompt them to vote harder for either Danny or Kris just to get rid of him. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s always been said that the Republican Party always brings up Gay Marriage right before an election because ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a good way to get the troops out to vote in their favor.

    I wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be surprised if the judges give Adam a George Michael type of song or something like à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t Let the Sun Go Down on Meà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ or à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Somebody to Love.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

I purchased Adams Rock song and video and The Duet with Allison, song and video and they are fucking amazing! Im not lying! The studio duet is unbeliveable! He only gets better if thats possible! :thumbup_tb:

  • background_noise

I like the WLL recording and what Adam did to it. He made the song sound more current than the show version, and I think the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“babyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ was more modern sounding. Maybe it also was to make it ambiguous, you know how he likes to provoke a reaction!

I’m freaking in love with the studio verison of Whole Lotta Love. But I don’t think it’s ambiguous at all. Go to the 1:49 mark of this video and tell me he doesn’t say, “I’m gonna give him every inch of my love.”

Not ambiguous, nope, not at all.

    Song picks for next week:

Adam: “Oh Darling” – The Beatles’ Abby road
“White Shade of Pale” – Procal Harum- Judges choice

Kris: “Black Magic Woman” – Santana
“Crash Into Me” – Dave Matthews Band -Judge’s choice

Danny: “Who’s Gonna Drive You Home” – The Cars
“Sex Farm Woman – Spinal Tapp – People’s choice

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m freaking in love with the studio verison of Whole Lotta Love. But I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s ambiguous at all. I checked it out and it sure does sound like that, doesn’t it? On the other hand, the whole rest of the song is in the second person, why would he switch to the third person for one word? But I like “him” better, so I think that’s what I’ll choose to hear from now on.
I love this recording either way.

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m freaking in love with the studio verison of Whole Lotta Love.

Yup, that sums it up for me, too!

  • cwg509

Not ambiguous, nope, not at all.

I was thinking in contrast to the live version… people want to believe whatever they want to

But see what I mean about “reaction”?

I think people hear what they want. Because at the 1:42 mark it sounds like he sings, I miss you girl. And he also could be singing, “I’m going be give in” So I think we are back to ambigious and there is something for everyone in there.

    Kris: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Black Magic Womanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – Santana
    à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Crash Into Meà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – Dave Matthews Band -Judgeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s choice

Or instead of the Santana song, how about “Magic Bus” by The Who??

  • JohnM

See, this whole discussion of what Adam is actually saying is one of the cool things about rock — you can’t understand a lot of what a lot of singers are saying! So just don’t worry about it and enjoy the music!

    “Enunciation problems”. Hmph.

chessguy99: If you buy just one Allison track this season, buy Cry Baby. Its her best of the season.

Last week I said that Someone To Watch Over Me was probably the one of Allison’s to get if someone got only one, because the technological kinks were worked out and the performance was good.

But I have to agree with you that Cry Baby is the best. The sound is excellent, and she really did convey more of her live-performance energy and vibe in this one than in any other. What a shame she’s gone.

Soulkaren: She sounds just like Janis

Oh, no, no — she sounds a hundred times better! Sorry, I cannot stand Janis’ voice — having Allison sing Cry Baby and (via the now-deceased Youtube video) Piece of My Heart was a real gift, because they’re great blues-rock-oriented songs that I can now properly enjoy (at least Cry Baby — hopefully the Youtube will reappear).

  • cwg509

So just donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t worry about it and enjoy the music!

And keep those accessories coming (see Fox interview) lol

I think the lyric at 1:42 is “I’ve been misusing” .. which is the same as the original LZ lyric.

Whatever he’s saying it’s a great studio recording.

Blown away by Krisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ Come Together

Word. If the sound mix hadn’t been off on show night, it would have sounded like this on Tuesday. I wish I could hear Kris sing Renegade by himself. (swoon)

    Kris: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Black Magic Womanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – Santana
    à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Crash Into Meà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – Dave Matthews Band -Judgeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s choice

Excellent suggestions. I’d say pretty much anything by the Dave Matthews Band would be in his wheelhouse. The fanwank in me would also suggest ‘My Hands Are Shaking’ by Sondre Lerche.

Blown away by Krisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ Come Together

I CANNOT wait to download it, yay! I may check out Renegade as well due to Sbalk017′s recommendation, I love harmonies!

I’ll be getting “Cry Baby” as well.

I have to wait a couple days to do so though. :(

  • Sinochick

All this talk about what Adam might be “singing” in his WLL studio version reminds me of the “Paul is dead” clues the Beatles supposedly gave in their recordings! LOL

  • gingerly

OK, I thought I didn’t care all that much, but I’m off to listen to them. Hopefully they are up on YouTube because I’ve yet to buy a studio performance this year. But I am finding myself interested in hearing them. I just haven’t found anybody that I’m so invested in that I need to hear their music more than once or twice. I don’t need to pay for it to do that.

I enjoyed playing the YouTube studio versions for my extremely (OTT) jazzified father last week. I’m a classic rock freak myself so will use my own ears…don’t need affirmation like I did last week, though the dadster (who has about 6,000 jazz CD’s) pretty much echoed my thoughts which was interesting…

OK so I’m back and well, I loved them in this order:

Kris (yeah well I’m also an Americana/Alt Country freak–sorry I forgot to mention that tidbit before– and I loved his take) If I was going to break down and spend money on the idols this week, this would be the one

Allison has an amazing voice. She really doesn’t have range but she has an amazing tone. I just guess I’m partial to Janis and maybe because she has a similar tone, I find her sorta wannabe

Adam does have amazing range but his tone leaves me cold. I find no richness in it…nothing to make me excited.

Danny sucks…have nothing much else to say about him.

  • Natasha

Why in hell should Mr. Lambert have to talk to anyone about his personal life. This is a singing competition and that is what we should be focusing on. Give the guy a break, let him do what he does best. He can talk to people about his personal life when he feels he wants to.

I agree. If he feels he wants to say something at some point then fine but he’s under no obligation to do so at any time. He wants to be an entertainer and he’s good at it. Let him entertain. The rest is his business.

    à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Crash Into Meà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – Dave Matthews Band -Judgeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s choice

    Danny: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Whoà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Gonna Drive You Homeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – The Cars
    à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Sex Farm Woman – Spinal Tapp – Peopleà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s choice

:lol_tb: on the choices for Danny.

Whiter Shade of Pale was done last year by Sundance, not a good choice me thinks. (I’ll admit here that I couldn’t remember his name at first and was just gonna say the short big hairy dude)

I can’t even suggest anything for Adam, I just think he needs one great ballad for the casual voters, and one great big fat balls to the wall rock out hellapalooza complete with glitter eyeliner to show off those fab eyes for moi. :blush_tb:

I actually love Black Magic Woman for Kris though, damn, great suggestion! Would be all kinds of hot.

  • hollygo9

Kris (yeah well Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m also an Americana/Alt Country freakà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’sorry I forgot to mention that tidbit beforeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ and I loved his take)

Man, wouldn’t Kris crush some Ryan Adams? “Dear Chicago” or “Where The Stars Go Blue”?

  • Anastasia72071

I haven’t heard any of the studio versions yet, but I was reminded today of the Canadian Idol Top 5 last year – Mookie Morris performed a killer version of “Come Together” (Judges’ Choice):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDXgrEpLGm0
    THAT’S how it’s done.

  • luvnlife

Say what you will, for me, this season has presented the most diverse music and talent that is close to my heart. Adam & Allison have kept it interesting to my rocker chick heart, but Kris (and Danny…yikes) appeal to that part of me that likes folk, soul, and Southern Rock. I’m grateful to all of them. This has been a very entertaining season for me. I actually like the studio version of Renegade. No haters, please.

  • luvnlife

Let me just add, I’m not a country music fan at all, but I think Allison, when she’s not rocking out has great pipes for country. I was blown away when she sang that Patty Loveless song “Blame it on your Heart”. Girl is very versatile. So, she’s versatile, Adam is versatile. They should have been 1 & 2. Where were the Spanish/Mexican voters in all this?
