It was there last week–but not now. American Idol Season 10 winner, Scotty McCreery’s photo has disappeared from the XIX Entertainment website.

XIX is American Idol creator, Simon Fuller’s, management company. Simon created XIX when he left 19 Entertainment a few years ago. He has chosen to manage the careers of a few Idol winners and runner-ups, including Season 4 winner and country superstar, Carrie Underwood, and Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina from Season 11. Simon recently signed on Season 7 winner, David Cook. His photo has been added to the XIX site, while Scotty’s has disappeared. Lauren’s photo is still displayed.

It may or may not be significant, but it’s certainly one of those things that make you go hmm…

In May, around the time of the American Idol finale, the Hollywood Reporter reported that Red Line, who had co-managed several Idol alums with 19 Entertainment, was out and former Miley Cyrus manager, Jason Morey was in.

Curiously, there was no announcement about who would be managing Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez, the newest Idol winner and runner-up. However, around the same time frame, the parent company which owns American Idol, formerly CKx, underwent a major rebranding, re-christening itself as “ore Media Group.

The new company not only planned to conduct a “full scale review” of American Idol in light of the aging show’s significant ratings drop during Season 11, but new president, Marc Graboff said Core would “certainly manage Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez.”

Maybe Simon Fuller didn’t have a crack at the new Idols. There are rumors that the Idol creator will be playing a reduced role with the show going forward. Or maybe he just didn’t want to manage the duo. Could Scotty have defected to Core Media Group? Or is he signing on with a new company altogether? Perhaps a Nashville-based outfit? Or is the XIX webmaster a little ditzy, deleting Scotty’s photo by mistake? Only time will tell.

I don’t think that most fans know or care about who manages their favorite singers.  And most managers don’t spend time communicating with fans.  I follow a few managers on twitter, and they hardly ever tweet about their artists.  Most, even someone like Scooter Braun, are more likely to have access to their artists’ twitter or facebook accounts, and that’s how they keep in touch with fans.  For the most part, I don’t think it’s an issue that the firms or artists address.

Lee’s manager is Brett Radin at 19, it was confirmed in one of the articles about his wedding. The article from THR about Phillip getting his gold plaque for Home mentioned Radin was in attendance. So perhaps he’s managing Phillip as well, or maybe Phillip is managed by 19. Shirley seems to be the one to get to the bottom of and confirm any management changes so if Scotty has indeed changed she would say something eventually.

mmm…Hunter Hayes is a “country star’ and he’s pretty much young, being adult now, and still making success

19M, XIX Fuller, 19E or whatever this stupid specialized Idol management is called would never drop their biggest success right now. If Scotty left it, it was his own decision for a better management. Maybe he’s already searching for a mgmt with more experience outside the bubble.

Leandro says:  ” 19M, XIX Fuller, 19E or whatever this stupid specialized Idol management is called would never drop their biggest success right now”

Just to clarify, I don’t think they would drop him either, but to be correct I wouldn’t say Scotty is XIX’s biggest success.  They manage Carrie, the Beckhams, Jennifer Lopez, etc.

    Bu bye.

But Durbin isn’t signed with 19R anymore. The contract he signed with them when he went on the show got terminated somehow so they can’t own him for 10 years. Ditto for Abrams & Stefano. I dunno how long they need to be tied to 19M though before they can sign with other management companies.

As it was stated earlier here, I fully expect we will eventually see some clarification one way or the other from Shirley Halperin somewhere down the line on where Scotty is still managed by Fuller’s XIX company or not.  I highly doubt they would want to drop Scotty considering the success he has had post AI.  No, everything hasn’t been roses 100% of the time but as it was mentioned yesterday about the Larry Flick interview, it could have lead to a possible switchover in management, so who knows.  I think we will get to the bottom of this eventually.

Maybe someone removed Scotty’s pic in order to replace it with a new one and screwed up on the second part. It honestly seems as though entertainment management companies aren’t as “on-the-ball as they should be.

I can see why Scottie might want to change companies – I can’t see why anyone would want to say good-bye to him.

in ascension, he’s. But then again, MY POINT was just he’s being successful for a mgmt drop him withtout reason. I don’t know and I don’t care and I don’t want to lose time knowing in what hell of the nineteen’s he’s. lol

I don’t see it as a bad thing that Scotty changed management teams, if he did.   I don’t think he was dropped.   If he’s moved companies, I think it was his choice.  Scotty has had a very successful run with this first album.   He also does well with his public appearances.   I don’t see any reason for him to be dropped.   So if he did move, I am assuming it’s a better deal for him and he likes the new company better.

I would assume Scotty just moved on to a new management team…good for him…Fuller has done great for Carrie, but Scotty may rightly want someone unaffiliated with Idol who can devote more time to him..and can work around his college aspirations as well.  This is management — not label.  Some artists switch management a lot, some stay with one manager forever…whatever works best for the artist…I’m sure Scotty wasn’t “dropped” by Fuller….clients don’t get released by management all that often and there would be no reason to release Scotty. Either his contract was up and he decided to move on, or all parties agreed that he would be better off with different management.  Good for Scotty for being pro-active

I am not impressed with Simon Fuller’s management (XIX) of new music artists. He does alright with music artists that are already well established and well known but is not very creative with new artists. Scotty would be smart to go to another management company if he can as would Cook and Lauren. There are enough other entertainment management companies out there to chose from. It also looks like Fuller’s ties to AI are going to be decreased this year.

I find it interesting that in Idol-world there is always a quick assumption that when a relationship changes — be it management or label or what have you — it must be the Idol alum who is “dropped” or rejected or dismissed or whatever term you want to use.  The first thought is rarely that the Idol artist wanted to move on.  But the truth is that artists change management, artists fulfill contractual obligations to labels and look elsewhere, relationships change….there are only very very small handful of artists that remain with one label throughout their careers these days.  I know that there is a track record of major labels dropping Idol artists (e.g. not picking up existing options), but in some cases the situation is more complicated — there is no option to pick up and there is a parting of the ways, the artist is very unhappy with the label and is happy to move on etc.  And management is a whole different ball of wax — non-idol artists change management all the time and the public/fans never give it a second thought (unless there has been a long time relationship that blows up….and then peeps just enjoy the gossip factor).   I just find it curious that the first thought among Idol fans is that the artist has failed and been dumped.

This is because the assumption is that idol contracts bind Idol aluns to the label and management for a few years, but that the reverse isn’t true.  This is an assumptions based on various tibbits of information we’ve had.
It may be that since Scotty was a minor when he signed, he had the option to not renew his contract when he turned 18, but this is just speculation. Or may be the contract terms have changed, who knows.

“This is because the assumption is that idol contracts bind Idol aluns to the label and management for a few years, but that the reverse isn’t true.  This is an assumptions based on various tibbits of information we’ve had.”

Cook himself said he had a 2 record deal.  He fulfilled that.  It was apparent that he wasn’t happy and said that they parted ways amicably.  Why is it so hard for Idol fans to think that he was lying and was dumped?  Because Idol fans like to see ones they don’t like fail.  From all accounts by the one involved, when the opportunity arose, he left.

I suspect that the contract terms have changed a bit over the past couple of years.  I think we heard some of that recently wrt to the S11 folks.  WRT management 19 has really been in flux — first Scotty and Lauren went to Fuller instead of 19, then the S10 folks were farmed out in part to Red Light etc. Management is now under 19E and no more separate 19M.  There has been speculation on here that they don’t even want to be in the management business anymore.   So I’m thinking on the management side some things may have changed wrt duration of contract terms.  And it seems like at least since S7 the major label deals have only been for 2-3 albums.  19R and 19E may be able to continue taking a slice of the pie for years on end, but it doesn’t seem like the alums are required to stay with them for years on end anymore.

Scotty’s pic is still missing from the XIX site, so I think that an error by the website is looking very unlikely. Of course, this was discovered over the weekend, so perhaps if there was an error, it will be corrected sometime this week.

That’s what I was thinking as reading all this…..If there’s been a change, I feel like it was made by McCreerys as they’ve been all over the business end of all this. I would frankly like to see Scotty under different mgt. I can’t help but think he could do better and imagine he’s able to call his own shots now. I’m not following all of this by any means, but there is no way, label dropped him and kept the others. Wouldn’t make sense.

Chill, Cathy nor anyone has to know the McCreerys on personal basis to make stmt of opinion, especially since it was topic of news reported when Scotty and family were negotiating the record deal…Scotty said, parents, lawyers, etc. were working out details and he mentioned it on few different occasions. He implied that they were not just jumping in without in depth understanding of the issues upon which decisions were to be made.

I got a tweet today telling me that the XIX logo has been removed from Scotty’s website, so I guess this rumor is true after all?
