Is Larry Platt’s “Pants on the Ground” stolen? And, more importantly, do you still care? Check out the video above.

“Pockets on the Floor” is the work of Green Brothers, also from Highland Park. The brothers, in their 70′s produced their work back in 1996.

The two versions do sound similar.

Update: After the jump, watch the Green Brothers’ “Back Pockets on the Floor”

I didn’t realize General Larry Platt was representing Pants On The Ground as an original composition. I thought it was a clever parody or just random rambling not intended to sound like music. But I guess it makes sense since he’s lawyering up. If he’s trying to make money off this then I hope the resemblance is coincidental. It seems like it could be because the “melody” such as it is is hardly original and the message is pretty common too.

Well, it is way too much alike for General Larry Platt to get his version copyrighted. Too bad because I kinda like him and would like to see him get a little money for his old age. Too bad, but he did get his 15 minutes of fame.

I like this much more than General Larry’s. It’s similar but not the same. Good message in both songs.

I’m listening to the Green Brothers version now and I have to admit the versions sound pretty similar. I agree with windmills that this may explain why the General is hiring lawers. I still wish the General well.

Aw, sad. They do sound alike. It is tarnishing my pretty world with the dull thud of reality.

I’m choosing to believe it was just a coincidence.
