Is Allison Iraheta’s Record Deal Next?

Now that the American Idol Top 2, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert have signed and announced their record deals with 19, will we be hearing about other 19 label deals with additional Season 8 alums?

The rumor that Allison Iraheta has signed with Jive, Kris Allen’s new label, has been persistent, and there’s been plenty of online chatter to support it, including some very interesting tweets:

  • Allison had a breakfast meeting with songwriter Michael Jay (Celine Dion, Mandy Moore) in Beverly Hills on June 4th.
  • Another meeting for Allison–this one with producer/songwriter Nick Furlong and Jive.
  • Singer/songwriter/producer Dru Grange tweets, “had a great day yesterday, went to a meet and greet for American Idol top 4th place JIvE Records artist Allison Iraheta shes needs songs.”

An announcement this week that Allison Iraheta has signed with 19 and Jive records?   Maybe!

    I think the deal is set and all she has to do is sign the papers. I’m sure we’ll hear something official in the coming weeks.

    I still think Allison has the potential to be the breakout star from Season 8. I’m rootin’ for her.

    Hmm.. maybe tomorrow then? In my head, I imagine Kris Allen looking after her still since they are now going to be labelmates too. hehe.. I wonder if they’re going to end up putting her album before the top 2…

    It also makes me wonder why the judges didn’t praise her more instead of Danny because it doesn’t seem like 19 will take on Danny now..

    I could see her album coming out before Adam’s, but if she’s on Kris’s label I don’t see them putting anyone from this season above him. He is afterall the winner, and they have an invested interest to see him succeed.

    Oh there have been at least 2 years where a runner up has released their album before the winner. It’s not unheard of.

    Allison better be next on the list. If they sign those 3, I will be the happiest girl in the world. They were my favorites pretty much the whole finals. :)

    she’s probably been signed for a while. The press releases are issued strategically to maximize publicity. After the buzz crests and starts to die about the outcome of the competition, the press releases come out sequentially but in a cluster so the news outlets will pick up the story and will be able to cross-reference/link to the story they wrote the day before about the other signed idol.

    It seems Allison being signed is virtually certain. If there’s any truth to what that poster overheard 19 executives saying at the afterparty on finale night–that Danny is also getting signed–we’ll find out in the next few days. After that, it’s almost certain that they won’t pick him up.

    Thanks for the rumors, MJ. I wasn’t aware of those tweets. Looks promising. They may wait until the current Adam buzz dies down before they make an announcement. Maybe next week?

    So all we’re waiting for is the press release???

    I think she will do very very well.

    I always knew 19 would sign her, she has the whole package.
    If only Matt would get signed too, I don’t think 19 is interested in though. Sigh, it’s a shame he has potential. With the right material he could be so great.

    I hope somewhere down the line someone out there gives him a chance to record.

    Allison appears imminent in terms of being signed next. Can Jive Records handle 2 new contracts so fast though?

    It will be interesting to see what happens to Danny though. I’d say the odds are against him getting picked up by 19E though.

    Also in the General Information section says her record label is JIVE.

    So I think it’s pretty sure she’s signed and with Jive.

    I highly doubt it. If anyone had an interest in having Kris succeed, they wouldn’t have thrown his press release out with such little hoopla one day before commencing Adam’s big show.
    It appears that the rumors about all of the effort being put behind Allison and Adam is true. If Jive/19 want to release her album first, they will. I might die of shock if they did anything more than push Kris to the background, just like when he was on the show.

    There were a couple of fake ones already so I am a little suspicious right now, nonetheless it seems that she will definetly be signed but I think they will wait a little bit longer since Kris and Adam deals were announced back to back, maybee next week?

    This is an exciting week, 3 months after the group two semifinals, the three voted through are going to sign major deals, this is the end of the tv show, now they have to prove their worth in the recording industry.

    I bet they announce her deal tomorrow or Thursday, after the Adam news has died down (if that’s possible heh heh). Jive is perfect for her. If Danny gets signed, would it be by RCA? And I’m so hopeful for Matt G. I bet he could make a killer album with some guidance (like, picking the right song in his range). He would look so cute on the album cover wearing a fedora. :)

    I’m so excited for Allison. I think she’s the real deal. Kris press release was so lukewarm compared to Adam’s. I expect Allison to be treated the same as Adam, and I’ve been hearing over and over again that they are investing a lot in Adam and Allison. I am sure Kris will do fine and will great promotion too. But Adam and Allison are not being treated as losers in any way.

    The “leaks” have said Kris and Allison are putting out a pop rock album. Allison fans understand she needs to do the radio thing first. But, I wonder how Kris fans are going to feel when he puts out a Dave Hodges song like Crush and not that singer/songwriter/Mraz stuff. They like to brag that Kris knows exactly what he’s going to put out, but those leaks say will be more teen pop.

    From what I heard, Jive has been very prepared for Allison, weeks before her elimination…and that TLW had her eyes on Allison for some time…

    Not necessarily fake. She probably had a previous personal myspace page which she hasn’t updated per AI rules and then when she was signed, the label had somebody create/maintain the official myspace page.

    ALLISON! I’m happy for her.I dont expect the media to make a big deal about her deal like what they did with Adam.Allison isnt in the media as much as adam or kris yet.So im not expecting a huge amount of hype for her deal.
    She will be a break-out star though.The girl is more talented and more mature than most people her age.Everything about her is WIN.

    Kris isnt David Archuleta.Dodge has written for TONS of artist.He written for Dashboard Confessional,Clarkson, Daughtry,Evanescence and more.He’s not a teen pop kind of songwriter.David Archuleta is the only teen i know that he worked with.Hodge is a creditable songwriter.We know that Kris writes songs.So i expect something good.

    Where and who said that jive been expecting Allison to join for a while? sounds awesome.

    There been people from 19 saying that they will promote kris and adam.Lets hope they meant
    Allison and Matt as well.

    the teen pop thing for Kris is just an assumption because David Hodges wrote crush and is working with kris, and is also untrue. Also, Adam’s press release just seems like it’s getting more attention because it’s paired together with his Rolling Stone cover. I doubt anyone but AI fans really keeps up with who gets album deals in general.

    I wonder how much marketing and stuff they’ll do for Allison because with Kris’, he got a $1m contract for winning. I’m thinking they’ll push out Allison’s album sooner like how they did for Kellie Pickler so that she’s still fresh in people’s minds.

    They also did for Kristy Lee Cook. Yeah, it could be good or bad being pushed depending on many factors. I think that Allison’s biggest hurdle is that she didn’t sell as well as some of the others on iTunes, so I truly hope they give her material that is worthy of her voice and her awesomeness. I’m not convinced that they will and I’m not convinced that she (at her young age) has the savvy to do what she needs to do. I hope I’m pleasantly surprised.

    I think Kris and Adam will definitely get the most push in terms of the 19E/R/M marketing machine. Adam is obviously very good at keeping himself in the public eye without a lot of help from anyone, anyway, while Kris seems to have a pretty broad appeal as long as they don’t try and turn him into a teen pop guy. Which I doubt they will do — he is a little too old for that, and his sound isn’t teen pop, anyway. But I think the company is also very excited about Allison’s potential, so they will likely also try and get some solid publicity for her as well.

    I haven’t heard or seen much buzz on any of the other AI finalists in terms of them getting record deals. I wonder if 19 is going to wait until after the tour to see which ones can sustain interest from the fans and then decide whether to sign them? If I remember correctly, they have like a 3-month exclusive hold on all the finalists once the show ends — after that, if 19 doesn’t sign them (or they decide to rebuff 19) then they can all look for other deals.

    Oops, sorry. I don’t think I was paying attention to what I was typing earlier. I meant to say that it’s untrue that Kris will go the teen pop route. I think him and Allison were the most obvious in what kind of music they will be doing post idol (on the show) so I don’t know why it’s just assumed that they will change directions for them.

    I think David Hodges used to be a member of Evanescence and wrote for Kelly Clarkson. He’s written for many different people and so you can’t say just because he did songs for David Archuleta means that Kris and David are going to have the same sound.

    I heard rumors that Desmond Chiles is writing for Adam. Desmond wrote Who Let The Dogs Out. Does that mean Adam is getting an album full of Nickelodeon castoffs for his album? Heck no.

    Erm, Dave Hodges was in Evanessnce, a ROCK BAND. He wrote songs with Kelly Clarkson. He doesn’t specialize in Teenybopper music. He writes all kinds of stuff. It’s impossible to conclude what Kris’s album is going to sound like based on news of one collaborator, not to mention by singling out just one song the guy wrote.

    Both Adam AND Kris were on the front page of Yahoo today, although in different sections. Adam is the media darling (and lord knows Yahoo despises Kris Allen), but they couldn’t ignore the fact of his signing and that he was leading the entertainment news links yesterday. Adam tends to suck up all the oxygen, as they say, but I am glad the cover and the “outing” is over.

    If Danny is being signed, he will be announced next (they tend to go in succession). If Allison is announced next, then they have passed on Gokey.
    I don’t think they’ll take that long in announcing any other signings. I think Allison will be pushed in the pop route, and also used for Disney-related stuff.

    EW has an article saying Allison has now signed with Jive:

    EW.com has an interview with Kris up on their site as well right now. Here’s what he had to say about not being pushed into recordign stuff he isn’t comfortable with:

    “I am really laid back and kind of go-with-the-flow, but I will never do anything that I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe in. So if thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a song that theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re trying to shoot at me and Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m like, ehhhh, then it probably wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t happen.     It doesn’t sound like he’s going to let 19/Jive run roughshod over him when it comes to his music.

    Claude Kelly for Kris? Wow…. he’s wrote songs for Akon, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Lady GaGa, and Whitney Houston. I think he wrote Britney’s “Circus”.
